I took imipramine for 2 years for post partum depression/ anxiety/ panic it worked great and i went off of it thinking i was fine. Now i am extremley anxious been diagnosed with GAD so am considering going back on it. I have tried 3 SSRI's since FEB of this year with no relief. So hopefully the imipramine works again if my dr lets me go back on it. She thinks it doesn't help with anxiety/panic . But i know i didnt have any panic/anxiety when i was on it.

You should not stop 'cold turkey'. Go down to every other day, and do that for a couple of weeks, and then you can stop. It depends on how long you have taken it. If it hasn't been very long, it will be easy to get off, but then you may still be depressed. On the other hand if you have taken it as long as I have, well...I don't think I can ever get off it again, because it has totally altered my brain chemistry.

Has worked for me for years. Just recently he started me on imipramine needless to say I was in the ER Saturday and Sunday. As long as I have my Xannex I'm great! No anxiety or depression. Take them responsible and you should be able to live a normal life.

So, I am at the 15th day of my pep regime and have been strictly adhering to the program till today. I have been taking lopinavir ritonavir along with tenofovir. I am taking 2pills twice for the first one and one pill once a day for tenofovir. Today my bottle of rito/lopi finished after I took my first dose. So now I have been prescribed imipramine to help with my anxiety and IBS. However, since being on imipramine for about a year my "IBS" has gotten worse. Rather then occasional bowel issues, I now have daily bowel issues generally causing me bad cramping, bloating, constipation and nausea. My 34 year old son is taking 150 mg imipramine, 6 (1mg) Clonozapam, and 400mg Seroquel, (down from 600 mg) per day. His side effects are weakness, irregular heartbeat and eye problems. One of his eyes has gotten so bad that he may have to get a cornea transplant. I cannot say for sure if the meds caused his eye problems, but he had perfect vision all during school and according to my research seroquel has been know to cause lens problems in the eyes.

I should also mention that I had a clear colonoscopy which is great. However, the pain never really seemed to be lower- it's between my navel and rib cage often radiating to my back. The diarrhea is sticky and either black or grey and it burns. I tested negative for occult blood. Rarely with the dry heaving fits do I vomit, but when I do it is dark purple or greyish.

I failed some memory test at the neuro, so I also have a 8 hour neuropsychological evaluation. They have tried me on SSRIs and SNRIs and they are total **** drugs for me. I gave them a chance, but they are bad for me. I've tested positive for Lyme disease so that's why they are making sure I don't have lesions on the brain or what-not. I've never been pro-pharmaceuticals, and I prefer natural stuff, but at this point I want something powerful that will treat my symptoms.

My doc added Imipramine to my meds. I take Zoloft 50mgs in the AM w/Buspar and Imipramine (working me up to 150 mgs) in the PM w/ Buspar with tranquilizers as needed. I fine the Imipramine has a calming effect. Not sure if it is true, but it seems to work for me to get to sleep. Keep us posted. All my meds were recently switched so I am not sure which one is working the best yet.
