These symptoms are mostly prominent when I eat sugar, take ritalin on empty stomach, coffee (all things that are not reccomended with gastritis). Also when I am in siting position the symptoms are more noticible. I did an endoscopy and the doctor said that I have mild gastritis and that the symptoms I am describing were not conected with it. I don't buy it. I did complete blood check, my B12 is fine, my thyroid is okay, I am anemic, but always have been...

Im 25 and i was diagnosed with Adult Adhd just over 2 years ago, i was put on to Ritalin right from the start, altho it has so many side effects, i get on with it pretty ok.

I have noticed when I drink coffee or soda with caffeine it often triggers a gag reflex that is pretty uncomfortable. I first noticed this when I around 7 or 8 and prescribed ritalin which had this side effect. Is this a stomach problem or maybe an anxiety problem.

Definitely do NOT take with an energy drink or with coffee. It will give energy. It will not make you smarter. I would skip the pill, study smart and most importantly. ...get a good nights sleep. If you take the pill at night you will be up all night and blow the test the next day.

Others here have had success with Ritalin so they may be able to tell you how long it takes to be effective. Good luck!

well, i know that not everyone can tolerate lyrica (or like was said above, maybe your dose just needs to be adjusted -- heck, maybe i should go on it for my insomnia!!!!)....i also understand your "no appetite" with the ritalin....i have friends whose children are on a similar medication, and they say that it REALLY wrecks the appetite....check with your doc....maybe the combination is just too much for you??

if he has ADD he should be taking aderral not ritalin. Ritalin is for ADHD, that is supposed to calm him down so the person is not always hyper. Aderral should help with the concentration problems.

I have ativan (prescribed) to deal with anxiety and I was taking it every night to help with sleeping. Then it stopped working for sleeping, but I still took it. It sort of barely took the edge off but somehow I feel it helps. But then I would feel a little groggy in the mornings-needed lots of coffee. Then I decided to try something I used to take off and on-Ritalin.I can get this very easily (family member). So now I am taking ativan at night and ritalin in the day and its just a mess.

Is there some reason you can't have Ritalin with Lamictal? How about Klonopin? (Ritalin day- Klonopin eve.) I'm like, Duh, of course a mood stabaliser alone is not gonna hellp ADD cause the problem with ADD is not mood instability it is with keeping a managable level of stimulation to the brain. Try asking your Psychiatrist or neurologist this an let us know what they say.

i cant even study in silence anymore becuase my stomach keeps acting up, and its really distracting. i like to think it has something to do with my taking ritalin for my adhd but ive been taking it for years. help!

You can Google these names and research the various types of these medications available. Anyway, I am of the opinion that some of the issues that you are having with the Ritalin are related to the dosage being too high and maybe there is a better medicine.

were you prscribed the ritalin and lyrica? that is alot of meds to mix with that much beer. I agree with Dominosarah you might go to the ER.

I am just in the process of my diagnosis and I have a question for you all. Before you began your treatments, how did your body react to certain stimulants (coffee, tea, energy drinks, soda, stimulant medication)? A few months ago I was put on ADHD medication. (I am a 33 year old woman) I started on Ritalin which made me super tired like I couldn't even drive. Then I was put on Adderall and from the start my heart went insane.

(He never had ADHD by the way, just ADD, he never had the hyperactivity) He is 31 years old now, 10 years since he was diagnosed with Attention Defecit Disorder with Anxiety Disorder. He still takes his Ritalin every day, but is going to be weaned off them after he finishes University........he is just going into his third year of an engineering degree, and is doing a Masters due to his First grades in every unit. I totally agree DOCS took my 4 bus for not drugging them with Ritalin and I neglected them because of it. Now 4 yes in care they are that drugged up it breaks my heart. The quietening affects appeals to carers and teachers I feel...

I have been using caffeine.and ritalin combined to fight depression; it used to improve mood, motivation and all aspects of my life but caused anxiety. This solution does not seem to work anymore and every hour spent awake feels like a burden. I feel crappy all the time and everything, everyone that I used to care about worses my condition.

Also docs always start low on ritalin and then work up the dose if needed. Ritalin is a good med. It should really help you with a lot of your symptoms. It may be that the dose also needs to be adjusted upward - so another good reason to talk to your doc. Hopefully it is the same one! Is it? I know one or two adult ADHD sites. I'll look them up and send them to you. They contain a lot of helpful suggestions.
