ritalin

2083581 tn?1332307861 I currently use Ritalin for ADD and it also helps depression. Does anyone have suggestions for supplementing this with another drug. I have heard wellbutrin works well with Ritalin but I would like to here from someone with experience. Ritalin is the only drug that has ever helped me but when it wears off I am depressed again. (and I have tried Concerta and did like it) Any suggestions?

THE BUGGY SENSATION , I HAVE HAD OFF AN ON FOR A FEW YEARS,SO I CAN'T BLAME THE RITALIN. SWEETIE GET SOME REST. YOU SAY YOUR SON IS HOME ON LEAVE,IS THAT FROM THE SERVICE OR COLLEGE. Avatar f tn I took ritalin in late teens for adhd and developed epilepsy in early thirties. No history of seizures in family but my brother who also took ritalin in late teens also eveloped seizures as I did.
Avatar f tn I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall. He still will NOT increase the Ritalin dosage. I took the script anyway, and after filling it realized I am screwed for the month. I hardly can tell that I am taking an ADD medication when I take this weak Ritalin. I even took 80mg and felt nothing. I hate to do it, but I am going to call my Psych.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever been prescribed Ritalin for Migraines? What is the thought about this? I am looking for alternative approaches for my chronic migraines, usually 2 migraines per week, 1 of which is completely debilitating. I tried a 5mg dose of Ritalin (1x day) for a week and it was a migraine free week (despite high stress and sleep deprivation due to work).
Avatar m tn When I get my urine tests back every two weeks the lab results say that my levels are too low. It is coming up negative for nor buprenorphine. They say it could be there but it is under the cut off of 30 mg/ml . One week the doctor called the lab and the lab said something to this effect: Because the patient takes ritalin it pushes the nor-bup out faster than with a patient not taking ritalin. Therefore it doesnt have the proper time to build up in the patients metabolite.
Avatar f tn Tried ritalin (normal), ritalin SR, Concerta and amphetamine. Concerta gave me something but felt something missing, normal ritalin was terrible, OD and came into "cocain waves" (very high, and straight to the bottom), amph gave me more but I didnĀ“t eat, and felt a bit anxious, ritalin SR was, and is my favourite, works as a charm.
14631020 tn?1436545476 My neuro put me on Ritalin for this bone crushing fatigue a week ago. I realize some medicines take a while to get into your system before they actually work and some medicines are fast acting and you get immediate results. The Ritalin has made me slightly more mentally aware, but I am still bone tired. Should I give it more time or call him and tell him it isn't working?
Avatar f tn I am also puzzled why any Doctor would want to give a child a drug like Ritalin simply for him to focus, this is exactly the problem that is mentioned in the above post ..
Avatar n tn I too was taking Ritalin for ADHD about 15 years ago . It worked for awhile then it started to make me anxious and paranoid . I was taking 20mgs three times a day . When I called my UCLA doctor from the adult ADHD clinic on campus he at first just cut my dose . Turn the clock ahead about two weeks . I was still not doing well on it so I had him paged on the weekend and when he called me back he sounded quite annoyed and told me just to stop ! Big mistake !
Avatar m tn It depends when he is whiney and obsessive. Ritalin is only good for a maximum of 4 hours. If this is happening towards the end of this time, then this sounds like fairly normal adhd behavior. In that anxiety is a very normal co-occurance and he sounds pretty anxious. I think it is more likely that he is underdosed then overdosed, but really don't have enough info yet to tell.
Avatar f tn m a naturally anxious person.. and going on something like Adderall or Ritalin is out of the question... unless maybe if I have to drive somewhere that day. Is there any way to correct the condition, like with antidepresants?
Avatar n tn I've been on Ritalin for about three years now. I've noticed that if I forget to take it, I get really, really anxious, almost paranoid and I also feel exhausted. And for the past maybe three months, I've noticed that later on in the day, I start feeling like I haven't taken it at all. I have never, ever, ever taken Ritalin to stay up all night or crushed it and snorted it or anything. Is this withdrawal? Can I be dependent on Ritalin even if I always took it as directed?
Avatar f tn My dr has just decided to put me on ritalin, after trying many many other drugs plus ect, for my treatment resistant depression. My question is how quickly will I know if it works? Do I get immediate benefits from it or is it a gradual approach? For example, if I take a tablet at 9am, do I feel more energetic for that morning and then wears off by bedtime? I hope I'm making sence! Thank you for your help.
Avatar f tn Ritalin hits sooner and harder - which may be the difference you feel. I would first ask your doctor about increasing the V dose. V is a smoother drug that can take up to 45 mins to start working and you may just not be used to its gradual onset. However, it should last 10+ hours. If it does not - thats a pretty good sign you are underdosed.
Avatar n tn What are the options for this disorder? Do you find Ritalin affects wear off over the course of treatment? Are there implantable devices now to control this disorder?
429700 tn?1308007823 I don't have MS (so it appears), but I have quite a few similar symptoms, including dizziness and the related brain fog and fatigue. Back in 2000, neuro prescribed Provigil, saying "we used to use Ritalin for this" but that Provigil is now favored because of fewer side effects. Provigil was very helpful for both fatigue and cognition, although I didn't like the late-afternoon "letdown" effect I got with it. It was rather unpleasant.
2164295 tn?1337019528 He takes Ritalin for the narcolepsy and clomipramine (generic for Anafranil) for the cataplexy. The Ritalin helps, but he can only take 3 pills a day (insurance won't approve more), and he really needs at least 2 more a day to stay awake and function. He has bad nightmares and yells out in his sleep when he does not have the clomipramine.
Avatar m tn The original source of my first treatment is no longer an option, and I am having a hard time finding someone to do this for me. I have gone to see two doctors so far and neither visit was helpful on any level. Does anyone know how I can find a doctor who will administer Flumazenil to me or at least write a prescription for it?
968560 tn?1307451498 I know that they give adderol and ritalin for fatigue and concentration, which by the way are both schedule II class drugs. although they are both very effective for fatigue brain fog due to tx.but they have a very high abuse potential and in texas, where I live an MD can have a class v through class III schedule license, but in order to write for class II substances he must apply and be granted a special license to write for class a II substance.
Avatar n tn I decided I was going to need help staying up for that long, I took two of the 40mg Ritalin. These alone would have probably been fine, but I made a foolish mistake afterward. Monster creates an industrial size can (slight exaggeration but it is huge) that I was used to drinking every now and then. I bought three of them in planning on also helping me to stay up.
Avatar f tn What you describe is pretty extreme behavior for a 6 year old. Before Ritalin, what were the main complaints the teachers had that caused a diagnosis to be sought for him? (I have a now 23 year old who was on Ritalin all his elementary school days, and in some ways I regret it, but I don't know how he could have maintained focus if he weren't on it.
Avatar f tn prozac has zapped my sex drive me and hubby havebt had sex bit once since the prozac so dr mentioned he might add wellbutrin later...he also switched me from adderall to ritalin and im on xanx for anxiety.both of these drs told me 2 light beers is ok ..i was reading up on wellbutrin and it says it can cause seizures and alchol could add to the seizure effect...i ask my pharmist and he said thats very rare..
