ritalin

Avatar f tn I'm here from the Dysautonomia forum. All of the medicine I take is for my Dysautonomia (POTS and NMH), but I'm just hoping that my medicine isn't causing other problems like these PACs and PVCs. Are PACs and PVCs ever dangerous?
511019 tn?1214337323 I was also told that Sleep Disorders are often a problem for those with this form of POTS and we are going for a sleep study tonight which we hope to be of some help. None of the meds prescribed by Cardiologist helped my daughter. She was given Florinef, Metoprolol, Midodrin, Ritalin previously. There are some helpful articles by Dr. Blair Grubb that give some insight. There is also a table on one of them that lists meds and which type of POTS they may help.
Avatar n tn Yup. That's the "T" in POTS (for tachycardia). Mine likes to go skip skip WHAM sometimes. Ow!
1401877 tn?1288107639 Hi all, I've been on and off various medications for various things for years. No matter what combination or what I add or eliminate my POTS seems to be resistant to all of them, meaning it just gets progressively worse over the years without any meds helping or hurting.
560501 tn?1383612740 Florinef was the first drug prescribed to me when I was dx with POTS. i WAS ON 0.1 mg and the side effects were HORRIBLE for me. I had horrible intense headaches, increased dizziness, increased brain fog, a lot of swelling, weight gain of 6lbs in 5 days (which I could use, but it wasn't normal) and many many more side effects.
2083581 tn?1332307861 I currently use Ritalin for ADD and it also helps depression. Does anyone have suggestions for supplementing this with another drug. I have heard wellbutrin works well with Ritalin but I would like to here from someone with experience. Ritalin is the only drug that has ever helped me but when it wears off I am depressed again. (and I have tried Concerta and did like it) Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever been prescribed Ritalin for Migraines? What is the thought about this? I am looking for alternative approaches for my chronic migraines, usually 2 migraines per week, 1 of which is completely debilitating. I tried a 5mg dose of Ritalin (1x day) for a week and it was a migraine free week (despite high stress and sleep deprivation due to work).
Avatar f tn ) I take Cymbalta which is also on that list (although I have taken it for a couple of years.....before I even heard of POTS). It helps with the low seratonin levels that this form of POTS causes. I have always had headaches and dizziness of varying degree... or at least since my teenage years. I often have fatigue as well....sometimes really have to push myself. Are you taking any medications? Do you see a doctor for POTS?
Avatar f tn Tried ritalin (normal), ritalin SR, Concerta and amphetamine. Concerta gave me something but felt something missing, normal ritalin was terrible, OD and came into "cocain waves" (very high, and straight to the bottom), amph gave me more but I didnĀ“t eat, and felt a bit anxious, ritalin SR was, and is my favourite, works as a charm.
Avatar m tn If one type of POTS is Hyperadrenergic, I'm wondering how many classifications of POTS are there?
Avatar f tn I am also puzzled why any Doctor would want to give a child a drug like Ritalin simply for him to focus, this is exactly the problem that is mentioned in the above post ..
Avatar f tn m a hypochondriac, hahahaha. Is this neck cracking common for people with CFS/ME, fibromyalgia, POTS, etc.? Is this an issue I should be speaking to a doctor about, if so, which one? The paediatrician, neurologist and physio I see are all very difficult to get into and I refuse to go to a chiropractor (went to one when I was 10 and now blame him for my terrible back).
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with POTS 3 months ago after being sick for almost 3 years. I actually went to school upstate NY in Oneonta and have had dozens of trips to the ER and no one could figure out what was wrong with me!! I came back home to L.I. after graduation and was finally diagnosed with POTS and possible Lyme. I too am looking into autonomic specialists and belong to the DINET forum. A lot of people go to Vanderbilt Universaity or MayoClinic in Minnesota...
Avatar m tn It depends when he is whiney and obsessive. Ritalin is only good for a maximum of 4 hours. If this is happening towards the end of this time, then this sounds like fairly normal adhd behavior. In that anxiety is a very normal co-occurance and he sounds pretty anxious. I think it is more likely that he is underdosed then overdosed, but really don't have enough info yet to tell.
Avatar f tn m a naturally anxious person.. and going on something like Adderall or Ritalin is out of the question... unless maybe if I have to drive somewhere that day. Is there any way to correct the condition, like with antidepresants?
746058 tn?1248344665 I just had a hysterectomy July 13th and have had a flare up of POTS symptoms. I saw that some OBGYN Dr.s perscribe it after hysterectomies for help with hot flashes and mood swings due to hormone changes, but also saw that some cardio Dr.s prescribe it also to help with POTS. Does anyone here have any experience with it?
2164295 tn?1337019528 He takes Ritalin for the narcolepsy and clomipramine (generic for Anafranil) for the cataplexy. The Ritalin helps, but he can only take 3 pills a day (insurance won't approve more), and he really needs at least 2 more a day to stay awake and function. He has bad nightmares and yells out in his sleep when he does not have the clomipramine.
968560 tn?1307451498 I know that they give adderol and ritalin for fatigue and concentration, which by the way are both schedule II class drugs. although they are both very effective for fatigue brain fog due to tx.but they have a very high abuse potential and in texas, where I live an MD can have a class v through class III schedule license, but in order to write for class II substances he must apply and be granted a special license to write for class a II substance.

14631020 tn?1436545476 My neuro put me on Ritalin for this bone crushing fatigue a week ago. I realize some medicines take a while to get into your system before they actually work and some medicines are fast acting and you get immediate results. The Ritalin has made me slightly more mentally aware, but I am still bone tired. Should I give it more time or call him and tell him it isn't working?
Avatar m tn regarding the use of Ritalin for students. They talked about how beneficial it was for concentration and focus. It allowed many students to stay up longer to complete their studies. It went on to say that in controlled usage it was a great medication. They predicted that it will be more widely used for college students in particular. So yes, I would discuss the possibility that the drug may benefit you. It is certainly worth a try.

Avatar m tn I take a whole in the morning and the half about 3 in the afternoon. I also take ritalin as prescribed daily. When I get my urine tests back every two weeks the lab results say that my levels are too low. It is coming up negative for nor buprenorphine. They say it could be there but it is under the cut off of 30 mg/ml .
