Ritalin dosage adults

Common Questions and Answers about Ritalin dosage adults

ritalin

Avatar n tn The drug I’m referring to is specifically Ritalin not Ritalin SR (sustained release). Ritalin is made in 5, 10 or 20 mg tablets. This question involve the dosage Ritalin is prescribed. I’ve read that the average dosage for adults is 30 mg/day. I’m a 25 year old male. I weigh 220 lbs. and am 5’11”. The only other medication I’m on is 100 mg of Zoloft/day for the treatment of depression. I have no prior medical issues.
Avatar f tn I too believe that there is a link between childhood Ritalin use and neurological disorders in adults such as epilepsy.
Avatar n tn He was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 5 although we knew it by the time he was 3. He takes Ritalin... 25 mg in the am... 20 mg @ noon and 10 mg after school. The Ritalin has worked VERY WELL at controlling impulsivity and bad behavior. So much so, that his teacher this year asked me why he was on Ritalin. However, it has made him very slow at completing assignments and many other things. He is very bright and makes very good grades.
Avatar f tn I strongly suspect that there is an awful lot of over diagnosis whereby every child that is a bit restless, bored, doesnt concentrate too well or doesnt fit in with what the adults around him/her would classify as acceptable now has a "disorder" and is prescribed strong Narcotics (some of which have the same components as cocaine!
Avatar m tn Ritalin for Adults With ADHD. Ritalin for ADHD treatment in adults has not been adequately studied, meaning that no large studies have been conducted on the benefits and risks of using it to treat adult ADHD. However, healthcare providers may prescribe Ritalin for adult ADHD in certain situations. This is considered an "off-label" of the drug.

Avatar f tn has anyone had their child prescribed ritalin for this and has it been affective in helping their child, my child masturbates does this help with it too
Avatar n tn I've been on Ritalin for about three years now. I've noticed that if I forget to take it, I get really, really anxious, almost paranoid and I also feel exhausted. And for the past maybe three months, I've noticed that later on in the day, I start feeling like I haven't taken it at all. I have never, ever, ever taken Ritalin to stay up all night or crushed it and snorted it or anything. Is this withdrawal? Can I be dependent on Ritalin even if I always took it as directed?
Avatar f tn if he has ADD he should be taking aderral not ritalin. Ritalin is for ADHD, that is supposed to calm him down so the person is not always hyper. Aderral should help with the concentration problems.
Avatar f tn My six year old son started taking a pretty low dose of Ritalin - he's doing great, except he seems to become "whiney" for lack of a better term.. he is much more emotional and prone to tears. Does this sound normal? He's been on the medication for about 5 weeks.
Avatar n tn My daughter just started taking 10mg of adderall xr and it doesn't seem to be working as well as the generic ritalin was. Does it take awhile for it to have it's full effect? This is only her third day on the medication. Any thoughts?
Avatar m tn ve been prescribed 90mg of Adderall a day, Concerta 54mg (2 in AM and 2 after lunch), now Ritalin SR 20mg and take 2 tablets 3 times a day. And, I am addicted. I take 400 to 500mg of Ritalin a day and start having anxiety and panic attacks days before I run out, because I know how difficult the withdrawals are from not taking it. I've been to an addiction rehab center for it and spent 30 days there.
Avatar f tn I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall. He still will NOT increase the Ritalin dosage. I took the script anyway, and after filling it realized I am screwed for the month. I hardly can tell that I am taking an ADD medication when I take this weak Ritalin. I even took 80mg and felt nothing. I hate to do it, but I am going to call my Psych.
Avatar f tn i have an 8yr old asd son he was also tilte adhd ritalin la was suggested is that good
Avatar f tn I was reciently prescribed ritalin for adhd, it has really made an amazing difference. I have gotten a job and am doing well and before I could only last a few days, I'm also thinking about taking some classes which I don't think I could have done before. Anyway I have mitral valve prolapse, I have had a few panic attacks over the years but never had a major problem with it.
429700 tn?1308007823 It sounds strange but the Ritalin seems to actually make me more tired. They increased my dosage but it is still not doing anything for me. I don't know if anyone has had similar results. Take care.
636964 tn?1222990085 My husband recently decided that he had ADD so he went to his doctor and got prescribed Ritalin. Ever since he's been on it, he's been a zombie and emotionless. We barely make love anymore and he's also very sensative about things. Now I've heard that sometimes if you really don't have ADD, the medication will affect you different then for someone who really has it. I've discussed this problem several times with my husband but nothing has changed.
Avatar m tn I saw my psychiatrist today and he told me Ritalin must be taken cautiously with patients with tics because it aggravates tics. I am 27 years old and have been taking Ritalin since I was about 13. I used to have a blinking eye tic but Ritalin didnt seem to aggravate it. However I got a funny spasm in my left eye and the doc said its fine. The one question I forgot to ask him was if Ritalin could cause my eye tic to spiral out of control in the future.
Avatar f tn Today I did not take the Ritalin and felt no spasms. On the other hand, my doc told me to take the Ritalin constantly. I tried to take it only when I needed to concentrate at work and not on days I don´t have to work. He told me it is not good to interrupt intake like that. I am very interested in knowing your experience with Adderal and Wellbutrin. Did your doctor check your clinical history to be sure that there is no high risk of seizures?
7087196 tn?1389306119 The diagnosis was borderline ADHD. I was diagnosed with ADHD at 15, was given Ritalin, and my behaviors became so much worse, wrong diagnosis. In 2005 was diagnosed with Bi-Polar. They have tried Celexa, Risperdal, Quafanicine (unsure of spelling) and they work for a very short time and his behavior gets worse then it was before. He said in school on the 18th, he wanted to shoot all the kids in his second grade class, after he pushed a girl when she was mean to him.
Avatar m tn I abused Ritalin snorting about 50 to 60 20mg pills over a 12 hour period, then the next day i was given a random urine test by my pain management doctor which is sent out to a lab. Ive heard that methylphenidate/ritalin wont be detected by most urine test but ive also heard that it will show up as methamphetamines, so i dont know what to believe.
Avatar f tn Are these episodes happening in a similar time frame? For example, do they tend to happen as the dose is wearing off and right before another dose, or do they tend to happen when the ritalin is at its strongest (about an hour after taking the medication)? There's something called a "rebound effect" where the child goes from having too much ritalin in his system to too little ritalin, and the behavior bounces around accordingly.
