The drug I’m referring to is specifically Ritalin not Ritalin SR (sustained release). Ritalin is made in 5, 10 or 20 mg tablets. This question involve the dosage Ritalin is prescribed. I’ve read that the average dosage for adults is 30 mg/day. I’m a 25 year old male. I weigh 220 lbs. and am 5’11”. The only other medication I’m on is 100 mg of Zoloft/day for the treatment of depression. I have no prior medical issues.

I too believe that there is a link between childhood Ritalin use and neurological disorders in adults such as epilepsy.

I've been on Ritalin for about three years now. I've noticed that if I forget to take it, I get really, really anxious, almost paranoid and I also feel exhausted. And for the past maybe three months, I've noticed that later on in the day, I start feeling like I haven't taken it at all. I have never, ever, ever taken Ritalin to stay up all night or crushed it and snorted it or anything. Is this withdrawal? Can I be dependent on Ritalin even if I always took it as directed?

if he has ADD he should be taking aderral not ritalin. Ritalin is for ADHD, that is supposed to calm him down so the person is not always hyper. Aderral should help with the concentration problems.

ve been prescribed 90mg of Adderall a day, Concerta 54mg (2 in AM and 2 after lunch), now Ritalin SR 20mg and take 2 tablets 3 times a day. And, I am addicted. I take 400 to 500mg of Ritalin a day and start having anxiety and panic attacks days before I run out, because I know how difficult the withdrawals are from not taking it. I have shown proof from reliable sources, to my Doc that he needs to give me MORE than 60mg Ritalin for it to be effective as 60mg Adderrall. He still will NOT increase the Ritalin dosage.
