1447050 tn?1284582074 So with already high serotonin levels in the body and brain with a high enough caffeine intake boosting already high serotonin in the body. Could this cause permenant brain damage to the child making them even more dissabled by the un-natruall high levels in there body making them addicted to not only caffeine but also other SSRI/serotonin replicators to achieve what non medicated children get natrualy?
Avatar n tn It usually attacks the spinal cord more than the brain. When the brain is attacked their is more room to find pathways around the damage. The spinal cord means cut signals. I have PPMS but I am very lucky the progression is very slow. I have done research on it but do not speak from his experience. Good luck.
Avatar f tn 2 months ago, and guessing that my exam would be in January or February,I decided that I needed extra help to give a boost in my mental abilities. So,I decided to take ritalin until the exam, then I would quit. I remember taking this meds when I was 18 years old to study for my final exam to enter in university. At the beginning I used to take as prescribed,3 tabs of 20mg a day. I upped the dose as the weeks passed. I was amazed with my results, I could study the whole day and got not tired.

14631020 tn?1436545476 My neuro put me on Ritalin for this bone crushing fatigue a week ago. I realize some medicines take a while to get into your system before they actually work and some medicines are fast acting and you get immediate results. The Ritalin has made me slightly more mentally aware, but I am still bone tired. Should I give it more time or call him and tell him it isn't working?
217599 tn?1202850952 I don't know, but I notice I have OCD tendencies with myself. With PDD and "atypical" autism I'm sure there's going to be crossovers with other disability characteristics... I think when things deal with the brain, things are not black/white- this or that... If you think about it and the snowflake expression, the same applies to the human brain. Every brain is unique and there's a considerable range of how each part functions.

Avatar f tn Hello, I am wondering if anybody has a suggestion of medications that work to help with memory problems associated with SCT that will not cause more memory problems or possible brain damage with long term use?
Avatar n tn Both of them say that sometimes one med will work on one part of the brain and other meds will work on a different part of the brain. Thus, even though both can help with focus, one might work for one patient while the other work for a different patient.
429700 tn?1308007823 Has anyone taken Ritalin for the MS fatigue and/or cognitive issues? I've just been prescribed this drug in place of the Provigil that my insurance company won't cover.
414333 tn?1226191493 I have heard that long term use of benzos can cause brain damage, this bothers me because all I ever wanted was to get well and I trusted a duck(DOC) Quack Quack Lol...... I have never been on high doses but I have been on Klonopin 0.5 mg for about 5 1/2 yrs. and I am currently withdrawing off Ativan fun stuff!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone know if this is true? This bothers me I used to be really smart.....
Avatar m tn Hi there. I'm sorry to hear what happened. Unfortunately, there can be events in the medical field that are really unexpected and have little explanation, and what happened to your father maybe no exception. Off hand, I can think of causes like an embolism (blood clot that lodges in the blood supply of the brain) or a transient arrhythmia (problem with the electrical conduction of the heart). However, these would have shown up in the scans and EKG respectively.

Avatar m tn Can Klonipin help with permanent Neuorological brain damage, do to an over dose on LSD? Thank you Clay Woodward.
Avatar m tn Hi....I think u mean damage to the brain...not brain damage unless it is untreated. There is a condition called syringomyelia and it can be caused from a trauma or even whiplash, another condition that can be there since birth, but triggered during or after a trauma is chiari malformation. U should always get checked if u have a head trauma.....Natasha Richardson died shortly after falling while skiing.....
Avatar m tn The answer to the question is as follows: TX is a powerful treatment that can in some, or even many cases, produce a wide range of side effects, and post-treatment side effects that may last for days, weeks, months, years, or in some cases it appears permanently. The first goal is to get rid of the virus, especially in those whom it has advanced beyond early stages, or seems to be causing significant physical or cognitive problems.
Avatar f tn She told me that she was not born with it, that while on medication as a child..one of them being ritalin..it cause damage to her nervous system or something and ended up with mild tourettes. Was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this happening before. I thought tourettes was something you were born with. Also she says that Dr.'s have told her there is 0% chance of her passing it on to her children since she was not born with it.
400099 tn?1282954864 Hey all! I'm back once again. LIke a bad penny I keep turning up. LOl. I've been battling a major exacerbation. Had 3 days soluMedrol IV and while my legs could once again hold me, still alot of other stuff I'm dealing with such as increased pain, crushing fatigue, brain fogs.
