ritalin and thyroid

Hi guys, I have gastritis for about 4 years now. Medication helps to some extent. Three years ago I took ritalin and didn't noticed the expire date. Ever since than, I've been having these strange symptoms of pins and needles on top of my hands (the palms especially) and on the feet sometimes simultaneously, sometimes not. Sometimes it's itchy, not always, leaving prominent red mark after scratch and disappearing the next minute. It almost looks like an alergic reaction.

Wow it only took 2 ER visits and a buch af changing meds over and over, severe heart rate led to tremors and anxiety to finally get someone to agree to drop the Ritalin. Prior to my Thyroidectomy me and ritalin worked just fine, did not speed me up just leved me out. Now the Thyroid is gone and Boom Im wired. Still concerned about the labs why would all my levels except for TSH now be in the high limits when a week ago they were normal?

Only been to ER twice and not to mention how crazy out of wack my body has been for oh about 2-3 weeks. They finally agree Ritalin and Thyroid meds with the combo of no thyroid are spinning me out of control. So inconclusion when I had myy thyroid I felt awfull but levels were never off, was given ritalin for ADD and I felt better. Now I have no Thyroid and Ritalin is having too much effect. Hence makes me think Thyroid all along except that dsont explain all my symptons as a child. Just curios as to if any one had any thoughts to this situation. Oh ya now 4 days post rai and 2 days taking levox...

however i am thinking about getting ritalin prescribed . i have a very good job where i am routinely drug tested via Urine and Hair. will ritalin casue a fasle positive drug test? half the internet sites say no the other half say yes.

My Endo wants me to see a psychologist for anxiety but I have never had a problem with anxiety until my heart started racing. I took Ritalin for a year with no problems until I had TT for Thyroid Cancer a month ago and started levothyroxine. 10 low but everytime we increase my heart races. Prior TT ADD diagnosis a year ago successfully took ritalin and prozac for about one year no problems. It is one of the side effects of Ritalin perhaps you should ask your Doctor for a new evaluation of the Med, if you ever decide to let him be on Natural Remedies, it has been shown in studies that food supplements have the same efficacy as Ritalin and a Muliple Vitamin-mineral with B Complex and Vit C also Fish oil, would be good, a lot of Parents are trying this now and their children and not getting the bad side effects that Ritalin and the other meds have.

I am on wonderful medication that is really helping me. I am on 50mg Ritalin and 75mg Effexor. However any new drug I get given knocks me and when I sometimes take my last dose of Ritalin my eyes start vibrating,all my muscles go tight and my eyes vibrate. This seems so unfair. Does this mean my body will eventually reject all meds. Please tell me this is not so. I am so happy on my medication.

My doc gave me Ritalin for ADD and Effexor for depression but this last one gave me too many side effects and I stopped taking it. Now he switched me to Wellbutrin (150 mg once a day) and 30 mg Ritalin. I have felt sick but am not sure if it is the withdrawal effects from stopping Effexor or the mixture of Wellbutrin and Ritalin. I feel brain spasms, especially in the back of my head. Today I did not take the Ritalin and felt no spasms.

I have noticed when I drink coffee or soda with caffeine it often triggers a gag reflex that is pretty uncomfortable. I first noticed this when I around 7 or 8 and prescribed ritalin which had this side effect. Is this a stomach problem or maybe an anxiety problem.

Went to see a GP, tested me for complete blood-work and thyroid, results came out fine. She then referred me to a psychiatrist, a neuro and an eye doctor. Psychiatrist prescribed me on Prozac for 8 months, with several increments in dose throughout the months. ve been to 2 cardiologists and had 2 echos and multiple EKGs. I was assured that my heart was structurally sound and the PVCs were annoying but not dangerous. I felt okay with this answer and even though they bothered me, they didn't bother me as much after I saw 2 different cardiologists and got the same answer. Recently I have been put on Wellbutrin and Ritalin for my depression by my psychiatrist. I told him about my PVCs and he didn't seem concerned.
