I am looking for alternative approaches for my chronic migraines, usually 2 migraines per week, 1 of which is completely debilitating. I tried a 5mg dose of Ritalin (1x day) for a week and it was a migraine free week (despite high stress and sleep deprivation due to work). I realize a week is not enough to make a judgement call, so I am looking for advice from those that have tried it for this purpose, or the medical community, before I talk to my neurologist.

but I agree with severance...when I was in my 20's and thought I was invincible, as many people do in their 20's, we'd call Ritalin "the poor man's cocaine" and crush it up and snort it...I didn't do this that many times, because I'd speed myself up and do so much and get totally exhausted and sleep 24 hours afterward... that's why I stopped taking it, though many of friend's continued...

Hi, I am a 23 year old guy and recently I've been diagnosed with PDD-NOS, which is an autistic spectrum disorder. 32/male I have aggitation where I'm uncomfortable in my own mind, in my own skin -- severe 24/7 derealization -- anxiety -- nothing feels real and I'm 24/7 lightheaded. Lately it's been worse and I've had a huge appettite. If I cut back on food, it makes my symptoms worse. My once high sex drive has also crashed recently. I was wonder. Do this cluster of symptoms point to any particular neurotransmitter --- and would it be too low or too high in my brain?

I do not want to go to a phycologist or whatever because, I am scared that they might admit me. I think about my kids and I know that if I do something stupid they will have nobody no mother. I use to go to college years ago and I told myself no mater what I go through hang in there. I have racing thoughts a voice tells me that if I just do it now all the pain will go away and that it is the best thing to do.

I have ADHD I am now 35 Ritalin causes fainting among many things also stunted physical growth and shouldn't be used at puberty . I spent Christmas in hospital on a holter monitor due to fainting spells over 1.5 yrs no diagnosis, except vegas nerve.

ask your Dr. about Strattera. It is prescribed for Attention Deficit disorder, but is not a stimulant. It is non-addictive and not a controlled substance. It also has some of the same properties as SSNRI's. Since it affects neurotransmitters it is a very useful drug.

however i am thinking about getting ritalin prescribed . i have a very good job where i am routinely drug tested via Urine and Hair. will ritalin casue a fasle positive drug test? half the internet sites say no the other half say yes.

I am on wonderful medication that is really helping me. I am on 50mg Ritalin and 75mg Effexor. However any new drug I get given knocks me and when I sometimes take my last dose of Ritalin my eyes start vibrating,all my muscles go tight and my eyes vibrate. This seems so unfair. Does this mean my body will eventually reject all meds. Please tell me this is not so. I am so happy on my medication.

My doc gave me Ritalin for ADD and Effexor for depression but this last one gave me too many side effects and I stopped taking it. Now he switched me to Wellbutrin (150 mg once a day) and 30 mg Ritalin. I have felt sick but am not sure if it is the withdrawal effects from stopping Effexor or the mixture of Wellbutrin and Ritalin. I feel brain spasms, especially in the back of my head. Today I did not take the Ritalin and felt no spasms.

I have noticed when I drink coffee or soda with caffeine it often triggers a gag reflex that is pretty uncomfortable. I first noticed this when I around 7 or 8 and prescribed ritalin which had this side effect. Is this a stomach problem or maybe an anxiety problem.

ve been to 2 cardiologists and had 2 echos and multiple EKGs. I was assured that my heart was structurally sound and the PVCs were annoying but not dangerous. I felt okay with this answer and even though they bothered me, they didn't bother me as much after I saw 2 different cardiologists and got the same answer. Recently I have been put on Wellbutrin and Ritalin for my depression by my psychiatrist. I told him about my PVCs and he didn't seem concerned.

I have also heard of using Adderall - do you know anything about that and how it compares to Ritalin? I am feeling a bit better today, so I hope it keeps up.
