I am on wonderful medication that is really helping me. I am on 50mg Ritalin and 75mg Effexor. However any new drug I get given knocks me and when I sometimes take my last dose of Ritalin my eyes start vibrating,all my muscles go tight and my eyes vibrate. This seems so unfair. Does this mean my body will eventually reject all meds. Please tell me this is not so. I am so happy on my medication.
I am a 74 year old Female and I am taking 20mg of Ritalin SR in the AM and 25mg of Imipram for the cataplexy in the PM. I get about 2 to 4 hrs sleep and the rest of the night I toss and turn. My Dr. told me she doesn't give meds for her patients to sleep.
I am concerned about not sleeping and then taking Ritalin to keep me awake during the day.I feel my health will be affected. Is this the normal way to treat my condition?
He/She will not make a diagnosis of Tourette’s Syndrome unless he has seen your daughter for one year and both motor and vocal tics have been present for one year. Of course, there are a variety of other tic disorders. And in your daughter’s case, hopefully this is something that will correct itself altogether.
It is one of the side effects of Ritalin perhaps you should ask your Doctor for a new evaluation of the Med, if you ever decide to let him be on Natural Remedies, it has been shown in studies that food supplements have the same efficacy as Ritalin and a Muliple Vitamin-mineral with B Complex and Vit C also Fish oil, would be good, a lot of Parents are trying this now and their children and not getting the bad side effects that Ritalin and the other meds have.
Unfortunately something went horribly wrong and he could not swallow food afterwards! So a feeding tube was used and then removed after three long years. He can eat but very very slowly cause he chokes soooo severly on everything! He can only swallow with his head tilted to the right also. His appetite still has never returned, so wanting to eat is almost gone! Is there anything that can help with this?
I don't think that I can help much but do note that OCD and ODD are both anxiety disorders. Often children who suffer from extreme anxiety display ADHD symptoms, but in fact, do not have ADHD/ADD as severe anxiety can mimic this disorder. It appears the Zoloft works - which is a SSRI used for anxiety disorders. I googled the drug "Metadate" and it appears to function similar to Ritalin so I suppose there would not be any reason to change to this drug.
but I agree with severance...when I was in my 20's and thought I was invincible, as many people do in their 20's, we'd call Ritalin "the poor man's cocaine" and crush it up and snort it...I didn't do this that many times, because I'd speed myself up and do so much and get totally exhausted and sleep 24 hours afterward...
that's why I stopped taking it, though many of friend's continued...
Are they referring to people with active eating disorders who are in a compromised medical state and more prone to seizing, or will anyone who has ever had an eating disorder be denied this med? I am not asking for Wellbutrin because of the weight loss side effects- 100% honest!!- but instead for its apparent success rate.
Finally, do I simply ask my doctor to prescribe it for me? Or would they have to recommend it?
Hi, I was recently diagnosed with inattentive type ADD not too long ago but i was also diagnosed as Major Depressive with lots of anxiety (nothing official with the anxiety, but it was definitely there) well over a year ago. The first script i was given was generic Ritalin and it worked very well... well enough to completely get off anti-depressants and for most of that anxiety to go away.
I am looking for alternative approaches for my chronic migraines, usually 2 migraines per week, 1 of which is completely debilitating. I tried a 5mg dose of Ritalin (1x day) for a week and it was a migraine free week (despite high stress and sleep deprivation due to work). I realize a week is not enough to make a judgement call, so I am looking for advice from those that have tried it for this purpose, or the medical community, before I talk to my neurologist.
s friend Emily sees me at my skinniest and suddenly starts to lose a noticeable amount of weight. Is this subconscious for Emily? I have done a lot of research on eating disorders and this issue is glossed over completely without fail. Does anyone in the healthcare industry have any info on this or opinion.....I am writing a book.
