Risperidone sleep aid

Common Questions and Answers about Risperidone sleep aid

Risperidone is generic for Risperidal and I think it's a pretty good option for depression & psychosis. Not so much for anxiety though. It should give you a boost or make you feel energized rather than lethargic due to the increased norepinephrine plasma levels. This does not make you gain weight either. See how it goes and maybe you will be able to eliminate your antidepressant or at least decrease it.
I am prescribed citalopram for depression and risperidone as a sleep aid. Does this sound a good prescription? Was on fluoxetine and amitriptaline but had frequent night sweats.
I am actually being tapered from Risperidone and Xanax by my Psychiatrist and am having sleep problems but I shall take Melatonin or Rozerem instead after consulting my Psychiatrist as I dont want go through another withdrawal syndrome.
I am not sure how long Seroquel would work as a sleep aid. I found it sedating when I first started using it, but now I take 700mg each day and it doesn't make me sleepy at all.
I asked a pharmacist he said all these are kind of tranquilizers. I know opium, hash, marijuana, etc... are. But is the foregoing list the same because pdocs say stay away from narcotics. Also what's the difference between valerian root and other tranquilizers like xanax, valium etc... . I know that the action of valerian root is to inhibit the reuptake of GABA which is needed also it has anticonvulsant properties. But i need someone educated in this to explain the difference.
Seroquel at lower doses mainly binds to histamine receptors, which is why it gets used off label as a sleep aid at low doses. Sleepiness *might* be from lowering your seroquel dose to 75 mg from 300 mg. While seroquel is known for being one of the best atypicals for the depression phase of bipolar, many atypicals are mood stabilizing and cover both mania and depression. One thing you might ask your doctor if you can try is stopping the seroquel and starting abilify in its place.

But here we are talking about Tradazone being used as a sleep aid. I would say in this case or in any case the best reason to find out why a psychiatrist picked a particular prescription and for what aspects of your disability is to ask them. There are multiple forms of depression and bipolar and various medications are helpful on some more than others.
not at all, its a prescription, but it has saved me from the chills sweats and anxity, and it makes you sleep i went into the hospital with bad symptoms and they gave me some to try and said it is safe to use non addictive and can get it from a doctor, it is the only thing that has worked for me and this is the first time i had an aid to get clean i also picked up a bunch of vit's that supposedly help and im on day 4 and i think they are really helping but seriquil is a for sure way to help, the
I am currently on 3 medications, Depakote and Lithium for my BP and Zopiclone to aid sleep. I realise this is a very basic poll as it does not show how many different types of mental health problems are being experienced but depending on the response this could lead to a further poll about diagnosis etc.
The only thing that helped me was switching over to another sleep aid like melatonin (OTC) or klonopin or lunesta. But I still have to take 3 or 4 to not feel like poo the next day. Most people don't realize you can get "high" and addicted to this med. For as many as you take, though, I would go to a doctor. Good luck and God bless.
Was put on Wellbutrin and could not tolerate that (couldn't sleep). I am now on 10 mg of Pamelor and two .05 of long acting Xanax which I am trying to stop (slowly under Dr's supervision). My problem is because I have soooo much health anxiety and my panic attacks and depression are caused by health anxiety it makes it very difficult to take any type of med because I think the side effects are a new undetected disease. I am very med sensitive.
Your body ups melatonin as night, decreases serotonin and vice versa. Honestly, I have been on every sleep aid out there; Lunesta, Ambien, Trazadone, etc... None of them regulated my sleep cycle and made things worse for me.. Neurontin and melatonin are absolutely the best for me. I sleep eight hours, wake up refreshed, and ready to go. With the other medications, I would wake up depressed because my sleep was off and it would cause me to cycle again.
I do service for her which begins in the morning and ends by force in the eveing when i must go to sleep. all day looking for something doing somehting for her and totaly neglecting my own life. So do you think a Gerondologist is more appropriate than a psychiatrist? My most important question you could advise me is if you think Risperdal 2mg dose each evening is ok. whst do you think about htis drug? She takes it to reduce hallucinations and they have declined a lot.

And I remember drugs like Percocet/Darvon that made me vomit, and other narcotics that made me sleep for days.
They might be able to do muscle testing to see emotional imbalances and can correct that (I know that sounds crazy but I already scheduled an appointment to have all of this done to aid in my recovery, it is just a suggestion). I am continuing to avoid alcohol, refined sugar and rough food like chips and raw vegetables for about 2 weeks, other than that food tastes great (I was on the anti-candida diet for 3 months so I am in heaven), life tastes great too. What is that saying?
