risperdal

574118 tn?1305135284 I was driven manic by an AD and landed smoothly by seroquel. That was 3 years ago. So I kept the seroquel and since it's good for depression I wasn't in need for an AD. Also since no AD then no mania. So I am almost stable on seroquel. As for the equivalence I was interested to know how much it's equal to risperidone because I was on the latter for 6 years 1mg. By taking seroquel I was sad as I augmented my drugs due to my 1st mania.
Avatar n tn The half life of Risperidone is 20 hours, multiply by 5 would be when it is completely out of your system so 100 hours so basically in less than five days it would all be gone. This information is from my PDR. It makes no difference how long you have taken a drug in how long it stays in your system.
1649932 tn?1348082640 I am not familiar with the use of risperidone for anxiety. I have tried many meds, but that is not one of them. I have a friend who is Bi-polar and she takes it with a couple of other meds. Were you showing other symptoms besides social anxiety? There are many alternatives if your med is not working. Talk to your doc.( a psyc doc preferably) about your feelings on the matter.
Avatar m tn How do you manage withstand side effects of both Risperidone and Seroquel.I found even 1mg of Risperidone made me edgy, nervous and anxious. My hypomanic episode resolved in July and my Pdoc was a month late in tapering Risperidone. He started tapering process in September. In future I shall keep far away from these antipsychotics as possible.A most distasteful experience.
Avatar f tn On a more personal note, after years on this forum, I do not like the use of Risperidone except in extreme cases. It has many side effects and there are other meds that can work as well. Do take a look at the many side effects of Risperidone. I do not know your daughters age, but it is not recommended below certain age levels. Hopefully this is a psychiatrist that prescribed this med. and not a general md? If you have any more questions please post.
Avatar m tn 5 years ago, I had psychosis, so I was prescribed the antipsychotic risperidone. I have been taking 2mg of risperidone a day since then, and I developed hyperprolactinemia as a side effect (high level of the hormone prolactin), so I have not had a period for 1.5 years. A month ago I saw a pulmonologist who told me that based on my PFT results which were all normal asthma or other respiratory inhalers won't help me.
Avatar m tn the problem is that BP pts develop anxiety often, so unless you have anxiety, then you will be ok and will sleep well after the risperidone gets out of your body completely which is abt 3 weeks at most, since the half life is very short, matter of hours
1649932 tn?1348082640 A couple of the many, many side effects of risperidone are agitation and anxiety. Also, this medication is recommended to be initially dosed at 1mg bid (TWICE A DAY) with incremental increases of 1mg bid on days 2 and 3 to a dose of 3 mg bid on day 3. (This would be a total of 6mg per day) If you have been on risperidone for three weeks and you're still on the starting dose, you need to ask your doctor why he is keeping you at the level.
1742269 tn?1315381633 Hi Amy, I am very interested in this topic of risperidone and energy increase, where did you find out this information of its boost and can you tell me more, thanks :)
Avatar n tn She needs to be seen by an orthopaedician to rule out this as an effect of injury ad also check for an missed fractures. Then only could the muscle stiffness be blamed to be due to risperidone. Hope this helps.
171791 tn?1358214381 I stayed up for a bout a week and for the first day or so I had control but after that I only remember bits and pieces of the rest of the time. When I finally passes out I woke up and it took me a long time to find out exactly what had happened. I remember pieces of conversations but imagined that I was at different places having them. I had some conversations on the phone that I thought I had in person. I didn't realize any of this.
Avatar n tn I am posting this in the Eating Disorders forum, mainly because it has to do with vomiting. But my main condition is a personality disorder diagnosed in March 2013. After 3 weeks in a mental health hospital, period in which, without being checked or asked about how I am coping, they upped the anti-psychotic to a schizophrenia dosage. The doctor wrote me the diagnosis of schizotypal personality disorder and sent me home to continue to take Solian(Amisulpride)600mg in two dosages.
Avatar f tn First, I can find no indication that risperdal is indicated for ADHD. " In 2006, the FDA approved risperidone for the treatment of irritability in children and adolescents with autism.[6] The FDA's decision was based in part on a study of autistic people with severe and enduring problems of violent meltdowns, aggression, and self-injury; risperidone is not recommended for autistic people with mild aggression and explosive behavior without an enduring pattern.
Avatar n tn he has missed his doses for 2 days and now came home from summercamp with signs of tardive dyskinesia. Is this because of stopping the risperidone or has the risperidone been masking the tardive dyskinesia ?
1649932 tn?1348082640 So before i was taking 2 in a half mg a day now im taking 2 mg a day in 2 mg a night to make social anxiety go away in so that i can feel better in i was just wonder if u are on 4 mg of risperidone in what does it do for you thanks.
Avatar m tn I am in full blown withdrawal from risperidone and my psychiatrist is out of town.I got side effects(involuntary movements) so had to quit.My doc will be back 4 days from now.Any suggestions.
Avatar m tn I am really happy today.Yesterday I took my last dose of Risperidone which I had been taking since the past four months and which had been tapered off by my Pdoc .I never liked this med which had numerous side effects of which I experienced some, thankfully not the worst ones.I will now only have to take my mood stabilizer which I have been taking for a number of years.
1985196 tn?1402190098 I read your other post and saw that you were staying on 400 mg. I was hoping they weren't taking you completely off of it because for me life looks differently when I am on Seroquel than when I am off. Also the Lithium does take a little while to work but it is a medicine that is prescribed to a lot of us. I tried it for a while but switched back to Lamictal because it worked better for me.
Avatar m tn My Pdoc had suggested an extremely slow tapering of risperidone over 10-12 weeks but I tapered it over 6 weeks and only had minimal withdrawl symptoms.I am yet to go and see him.I am stable on tegretol 1000 mg with no side effects.Hope it stays good.
Avatar m tn I am in full blown withdrawal symptoms from stopping risperidone with anxiety and my psychiatrist is back 5 days later.I had to stop because of side effects at 1 mg.What should I do?
Avatar m tn She also gets up at night and looks for things or wanders around. The consultant has prescribed risperidone, although we were hoping for Aricept. I am very concerned about this as internet research suggests it is for aggressive behaviour and will result in oversedation even drooling. I don't want my mum to be a zombie - I'd just like her to be more like her old self. Does anyone have any experience of this drug at all? I'm not going to give it to her until I learn more.
Avatar f tn She has been on risperidone for many years. Recently we have tried other drugs and her symptoms of aggression have increased. She is currently on Strattera, serequel, and hydroxizine (to help her sleep). She has only been on the serequel 2 days and it is not helping. The risperidone was stopped immediately because of weight gain. I need some suggestions on what we can do. HELP!
Avatar m tn No. That rate is too fast. I remember when I was tapered off various medications and I went faster than the limitations my psychiatrist approved and there was rebound psychosis and also I was of course transfering to another medicataion. All medication changes must be done at the exact rate a person's psychiatrist states and with their supervision.
Avatar f tn And I also learned the hard way that what ILADVOCATE says is true by going through withdrawal because of a doctor who couldn't prescribe antipsychotics giving me her samples and then running out because she thought I would get accepted into the Centers for Mental Health and see a psychiatrist before she ran out.
Avatar m tn Meds only work for a specific time period. Part of his problems may be happening cause Meds no longer in system. With ADHD you tend to hyper focus. Meds will help , as long as they are in system. What's he on an I can tell you how long they should last. He also needs behavioral help from a psyc.
