Risperidone low dose

Common Questions and Answers about Risperidone low dose

risperdal

574118 tn?1305135284 there are other sites which mention the maximum dose of both. max for risperidone is 9 while for seroquel is 900. also based on DDD it's 80. when you say equivalence it isn't the drug content but the potency as far the need for the drug. seroquel brochure says 900 don't exceed it while risperidone 9. you see it's a homework i did i am not a pdoc to judge my conclusion but i tried to work out the ratio.
Avatar n tn My Psychiatrist restarted me on low dose risdone of 1 mg and is tapering me off in 4 weeks.my side effects have abated and I am 16 days away from stopping Risperidone.
Avatar f tn I went through a withdrawal reaction to Risperidone myself before the Psychiatrist put me back on a low dose of 1 mg and is tapering it in 4 weeks. Two weeks at 1 mg and two weeks at 0.5 mg and stop.If you were at a higher dose than 1 mg you got to taper to 1 mg in a similar way otherwise you would go through a withdrawal reaction like me and believe me it's not nice.
1649932 tn?1348082640 Risperidol is showing good results for persons with anxiety, so social anxiety may well be the reason your doctor prescribed it. There isn't much out there for anxiety tho I hear the pharmas are working on 27 new anxiety drugs. Risperidone may well settle serious nerves. Follow your doctor's recommended dose, being mindful to take the minimum dose that provides results.
Avatar m tn stopping Risperidone (Risperdal) too quickly may be the reappearance of symptoms. i remember to have read somewhere that you need 3 weeks to taper off from risperidone but i don't recall the dose from which you start going down. so i presume 1 week is ok from 1mg till 0.5mg or better give it 2 weeks maximum.
603015 tn?1329862973 I am convinced it is because of med as I feel better(my mind is less cloudy) after dose of risperidone has been reduced from 3 mg to 1 mg.So you can understand why I hate these AP's and want to be off them.
1985196 tn?1402190098 I read your other post and saw that you were staying on 400 mg. I was hoping they weren't taking you completely off of it because for me life looks differently when I am on Seroquel than when I am off. Also the Lithium does take a little while to work but it is a medicine that is prescribed to a lot of us. I tried it for a while but switched back to Lamictal because it worked better for me.
Avatar m tn I am really happy today.Yesterday I took my last dose of Risperidone which I had been taking since the past four months and which had been tapered off by my Pdoc .I never liked this med which had numerous side effects of which I experienced some, thankfully not the worst ones.I will now only have to take my mood stabilizer which I have been taking for a number of years.
Avatar m tn incidentally how do you get this 0.5 and .25 risperidone. the minimum dose here is 1mg which i take it's a local brand called apexidone instead. i have a cutter which cuts in half my seroquel but couldn't manage the risperidone because it's glazy.
Avatar m tn I am in full blown withdrawal from risperidone and my psychiatrist is out of town.I got side effects(involuntary movements) so had to quit.My doc will be back 4 days from now.Any suggestions.
Avatar m tn My Pdoc had suggested an extremely slow tapering of risperidone over 10-12 weeks but I tapered it over 6 weeks and only had minimal withdrawl symptoms.I am yet to go and see him.I am stable on tegretol 1000 mg with no side effects.Hope it stays good.
Avatar n tn If you see them, you need to not eat for a week if necessary, but you MUST take him to a vet or you will lose him. Another symptom of risperidone overdose is low blood pressure which may do damage that may not show up for months or even years down the road. As I said, it is really preferable that you take him to an emergency vet NOW, but if you will not do that, you need to at least take him if he starts to show any of the signs listed in this post. Please let us know how he is.
Avatar f tn He does not have depressive symptoms--he gets manic and hears voices when he is stressed so we also have him on a low dose of risperidone and also Abilify (which has been our miracle drug). Mood swings are getting worse and he is getting more aggressive at home (hits walls). Besides getting him a punching bag, I wondered if anyone has had better experience with a different mood stabilizer--maybe something new? We tried tegretol with no effect when he was first diagnosed.
Avatar m tn No. That rate is too fast. I remember when I was tapered off various medications and I went faster than the limitations my psychiatrist approved and there was rebound psychosis and also I was of course transfering to another medicataion. All medication changes must be done at the exact rate a person's psychiatrist states and with their supervision.
1742269 tn?1315381633 Risperidone is generic for Risperidal and I think it's a pretty good option for depression & psychosis. Not so much for anxiety though. It should give you a boost or make you feel energized rather than lethargic due to the increased norepinephrine plasma levels. This does not make you gain weight either. See how it goes and maybe you will be able to eliminate your antidepressant or at least decrease it.
1260240 tn?1336077448 The psychiatrist has now put Glen (16) ASD on prozac (20ml liquid) once a day alongside his 1mg twice a day risperidone (was on 2mg twice daily but had to cut it down due to Glen becoming constipated). Glen's anxiety is still sky high on the risperidone, been on it nearly 8 weeks so she thought she would try prozac as well. Do you think the prozac will help my son?
Avatar f tn She has been on risperidone for many years. Recently we have tried other drugs and her symptoms of aggression have increased. She is currently on Strattera, serequel, and hydroxizine (to help her sleep). She has only been on the serequel 2 days and it is not helping. The risperidone was stopped immediately because of weight gain. I need some suggestions on what we can do. HELP!
Avatar n tn Taking Risperidal/Risperidone to augment my Prozac which seems to help. Started on .5mg of it and planning on staying on that low of a dose. My body is responding well. One thing is I'm TERRIFIED of weight gain. I am 2 years totally free of my eating disorder. Anyone not gain weight on this drug?
Avatar m tn Do you feel do I need to restart Risperidone at a lower dose and taper slowly from there.Waiting for a reply.
212161 tn?1599427282 , dietary aspects like following a ‘mediterranean diet’ (red wine, with plenty of fruits and vegetables), the Indian spice ‘turmeric’ etc. Low dose aspirin/ NSAIDS and medical marijuana may also be effective in the process. Hope this information helps. Take care!
Avatar f tn A blood test ordered by a naturopathic doctor found that my magnesium levels were low (after blood tests from the cardiologist found other electrolyte levels normal). I was advised to take a bit of epsom salt/magnesium sulfate for it and it has been helping a lot.
574118 tn?1305135284 Now I only take 1mg risperidone, 50mg seroquel and 1mg stelazin (typical antisychotic) could it be from the seroquel fideling with imunity although I was on 300 for 1 year to get rid of my mania 3 years ago. Anonymous said at very low dose of seroquel it works as antihistamine could this be related has anybody got these red patches. They are not all over my face. Just near my nose.
Avatar n tn How long have you been on Prozac and Risperidone?
574118 tn?1305135284 re on a very low dose of that as well. Perhaps increasing to a therapeutic level of Seroquel or risperidone would be enough (generally better to go up on a med if you can rather than add something new). I'm personally skeptical of a lot of the alternative medicine, given the quality of the science behind it. People talk about big pharma, but we're getting big alternative.
574118 tn?1305135284 Seroquel at lower doses mainly binds to histamine receptors, which is why it gets used off label as a sleep aid at low doses. Sleepiness *might* be from lowering your seroquel dose to 75 mg from 300 mg. While seroquel is known for being one of the best atypicals for the depression phase of bipolar, many atypicals are mood stabilizing and cover both mania and depression. One thing you might ask your doctor if you can try is stopping the seroquel and starting abilify in its place.
