Risperidone half life

Common Questions and Answers about Risperidone half life

risperdal

Avatar m tn the problem is that BP pts develop anxiety often, so unless you have anxiety, then you will be ok and will sleep well after the risperidone gets out of your body completely which is abt 3 weeks at most, since the half life is very short, matter of hours
Avatar m tn She also gets up at night and looks for things or wanders around. The consultant has prescribed risperidone, although we were hoping for Aricept. I am very concerned about this as internet research suggests it is for aggressive behaviour and will result in oversedation even drooling. I don't want my mum to be a zombie - I'd just like her to be more like her old self. Does anyone have any experience of this drug at all? I'm not going to give it to her until I learn more.
Avatar n tn The half life of Risperidone is 20 hours, multiply by 5 would be when it is completely out of your system so 100 hours so basically in less than five days it would all be gone. This information is from my PDR. It makes no difference how long you have taken a drug in how long it stays in your system.
574118 tn?1305135284 the reason for 6 pills is the short half-life of seroquel.
Avatar f tn The half-life of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. Hope that helps.
6298176 tn?1380134459 It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.
1985196 tn?1402190098 I decided to let it go instead of the Seroquel. It is a great medicine though for most and I am glad that it is improving the quality of your life. Are you still going to stay on a low dose of Seroquel or ccome off of it completely?
Avatar m tn I have had to suddenly stop Risperidone from 0.5mg due to abnormal movements in upper limbs since 2 days(/Tardive Dyskinesia). My Psychiatrist was anyways stopping my medication after 2 weeks and maintaining me on tegretol. Now I am feeling a bit naesous and edgy.Is it withdrawal symptoms?.What should I do?.
Avatar n tn Ive heard mixed stories about ORAP, HALDOL and RISPERIDONE. can anyone advise us on which one would work best for such severe motor and vocal tics. I would really like to hear from anyone who is suffering the same as a parent or sufferer.
Avatar n tn I am writing for answers for my 15 Year old son with Autism. He has been on Risperdal for about 5 years now and was taking 4mg x 2 daily, HIGH, I KNOW. He is 5'10" 165 lbs. For about the past 6 months he has started with some new behaviors. I relayed these to his Psychiatrist and she has had no comment on them. I researched them myself and found they mimic Tardive dyskinesia in many ways. I have found a new Psychiatrist but can not get in to see her for approx 2 more weeks.

Avatar f tn Ever since I was put on risperdal(3mg a day), I have been extremely fatigued. At first I thought it was due to the ECT's, but it's been a year and a half, and I don't feel any better. I keep telling my psych doc, but he says I just need to get a job and that it's in my head. Have you ever heard of fatigue(physical, not mental) as a side affect of risperdal? Or lamictal, for that matter?
2216810 tn?1420856876 I've read some of your posts, it sounds like you have had such a struggle. It must be even harder when the meds don't work the way we hope. I'm glad the xanax is helping you. Hopefully, now that you're starting to feel better, you'll feel more confident reaching out for other resources to help you learn and manage the anxiety.
Avatar f tn She has been on risperidone for many years. Recently we have tried other drugs and her symptoms of aggression have increased. She is currently on Strattera, serequel, and hydroxizine (to help her sleep). She has only been on the serequel 2 days and it is not helping. The risperidone was stopped immediately because of weight gain. I need some suggestions on what we can do. HELP!
Avatar m tn My Pdoc had suggested an extremely slow tapering of risperidone over 10-12 weeks but I tapered it over 6 weeks and only had minimal withdrawl symptoms.I am yet to go and see him.I am stable on tegretol 1000 mg with no side effects.Hope it stays good.

603015 tn?1329862973 i am afrraid this is not the risperidone, but it's called spastic colon (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). it just happened that they occurred by chance simultaneously. when you have anxiety you get spastic colon and especially with the change of weather, i.e. seasonal change from summer to fall say. I know it's devastating. They reckon it afflicts up to 20% of the world's population.

Avatar f tn diagnosis of ADHD on meds - medikenect and risperidone. very poor self esteem, very poor social skills, very poor self care skills. regular behaviour - temper tantrums of the type most people would never encounter with a vocabulary that turns the air blue, even for someone as open minded as us!, a lack of toilet training - when he first came to us had not been successfully toilet trained depute being 11. This has largely been rectified, although we have occasional accidents in the wee dept.
