Avatar m tn Someone told me that for tapering you got to take 0.5mg for a few days and 0.25 mg for a few days before stopping Risperidone totally which I intend to do as even my Pdoc thinks I can be maintained only on Tegretol.Only problem he is out of town till 25th and he wanted a very slow tapering which I did not agree to.
Avatar f tn The Sizodon is Risperidone used for mood disorders and the clonil is for OCD. Did you google the side effects of each drug? Did the doc say why he/she was putting you on Sizodon and clonil together?
171791 tn?1358214381 It ironic that you posted this because I am going back on my Risperidone tomorrow for my OCD behaviors. Last year it was for hallucinations but I noticed that it also worked for my OCD. When I stopped having hallucinations she took me off of it but is going to see how it works for the OCD at a low dose.
574118 tn?1305135284 s an antidepressant for the neurotransmitters to help me stand on my feet, boost my energy, and for my OCD as well and for removing all the bad thoughts in my head. After 3 months, I started to become very happy, even went to the zoo and bribed the supervisor to let me touch the tail of the lion, the crocodile and held a serpent in my hands.
574118 tn?1305135284 I have been dx with OCD 6 years by perhaps a stupid pdoc because i had thoughts bizarre. But I wasn't washing my hands regularly or double checking, etc... the usual. Nothing of the sort but intrusive thoughts. During this period I had depression, so i was given risperidone (AP) anafranil (AD) xanax (benzo) as i finished college i thought that was due to stress and now it's gone so why not stop the meds (usual mistake) so i stopped the risperidone.
Avatar f tn So your doctor must have a point to allow you to stop seroquel I remember in 2006 I finished college and i went to my pdoc saying anxiety is off and no stresses so i want to stop the med (i was dx OCD then) i was taking risperidone and anafranil (an AD) so the stupid fellow said OK, I asked which to ween off from 1st he said the atypical so i stopped the risperidone. The guy then left to the gulf area for more money.
Avatar n tn My son is 17 and was diagnosed with Tourettes and OCD at the age of 13. We had to wait 4 months of hell to be seen by a pyschiatrist and then had to wait about another 3 months to see some benefits from meds - clonidine and sulpiride. The tablets made him very tired and down and didnt go to school very often as he couldnt concentrate and fell asleep in class. He is very good at keeping in his vocal and motor tics when in public and with his friends but now he cannot do that.
17218185 tn?1454677673 Please give me some advice about these 2 treatments for Tourettes. My 12 yr old son has Tourette's, was diagnosed when he was 5. At that time, he was having lots of verbal tics, strange behavior, slow language development, and obsessive scribbling on paper then waddling it up and throwing on floor (he started kindergarten, and I got impression he was stressed about learning to write), he did this for hours at a time!
Avatar f tn I also went for treatment I'm on risperidone n venflaxcin
Avatar f tn She has been on risperidone for many years. Recently we have tried other drugs and her symptoms of aggression have increased. She is currently on Strattera, serequel, and hydroxizine (to help her sleep). She has only been on the serequel 2 days and it is not helping. The risperidone was stopped immediately because of weight gain. I need some suggestions on what we can do. HELP!
603015 tn?1329862973 e. for 7 consecutive years now, in fact as IL said it helped my OCD. only in 2006 that i thought i was ok and needed no drugs anymore so i stopped it and lived on anafranil (tricyclic AD) but it didn't take me more than 3 months to turn manic and dx bipolar. So whereas it's an atypical AP but it also possesses a stabilization property. Since it was one of the oldest produced atypicals and perhaps the oldest even, most pdocs start by it along with an anxiolytic.

396332 tn?1320003615 Are you seeing a doctor or psychiatrist? Since both Cymbalta and strattera target norepinephrine, they could conflict, and could cause more anxiety -- they're both stimulants to a certain extent, though both can also cause sedation, meds being what they are.
Avatar f tn She was on risperidone for many years but stopped abruptly for weight gain?? Hm. Well if that class of antipsychotic medication worked to control her symptoms, there are others in the class. I'd try that. And weight gain---- well, in the area of managing a difficult patient's symptoms, most physicians look at benefits verses cons. If the benefits are greater often a medication is continued even if it has an unwanted side effect.
574118 tn?1305135284 there are other sites which mention the maximum dose of both. max for risperidone is 9 while for seroquel is 900. also based on DDD it's 80. when you say equivalence it isn't the drug content but the potency as far the need for the drug. seroquel brochure says 900 don't exceed it while risperidone 9. you see it's a homework i did i am not a pdoc to judge my conclusion but i tried to work out the ratio.
Avatar m tn My question is on tapering risperidone how long does one need to taper risperidone from a dose of 1mg to 0.5mg in days or weeks?.
Avatar m tn I am a 35 year old male. I've had anxiety / ocd / depression my whole life. As a child, I didn't really "know" that I was "sick". It wasn't until I was older that I was sophisticated enough to understand. Looking back as far as I can remember I had the feelings/actions. It wasn't even until I was in my 30s that I acknowledged just how much of an impact all of this was having on my life.
Avatar f tn Hello! My name is Devon and I've been diagnosed with Bi polar 2, panic and anxiety disorder and ocd. I've been doing great lately until abouta week ago when I woke up one morning ( still feeling fine ) and had 4 cups of coffee throughout the morning. I ate and then decided to do a work out... During the workout I was feeling really weak so I stopped half way through and called it a day for that. I took a bath and my feelings of my body being weak just got worse.
Avatar n tn my son, 9 , was taking risperidone 1mg BID. he has missed his doses for 2 days and now came home from summercamp with signs of tardive dyskinesia. Is this because of stopping the risperidone or has the risperidone been masking the tardive dyskinesia ?
1649932 tn?1348082640 Hi ive been taking risperidone for 3 weeks now for social anxiety it seems to be working a little but in extreamly nervous now sence i been taking it is the medecine suppose to make me nervous im on 1 mg are u going through this please let me know.
1742269 tn?1315381633 Risperidone is generic for Risperidal and I think it's a pretty good option for depression & psychosis. Not so much for anxiety though. It should give you a boost or make you feel energized rather than lethargic due to the increased norepinephrine plasma levels. This does not make you gain weight either. See how it goes and maybe you will be able to eliminate your antidepressant or at least decrease it.
Avatar m tn She also gets up at night and looks for things or wanders around. The consultant has prescribed risperidone, although we were hoping for Aricept. I am very concerned about this as internet research suggests it is for aggressive behaviour and will result in oversedation even drooling. I don't want my mum to be a zombie - I'd just like her to be more like her old self. Does anyone have any experience of this drug at all? I'm not going to give it to her until I learn more.
Avatar n tn Risperidone is a so-called "blacklisted" drug and is entirely inappropriate for administration to an elderly patient with Alzheimers. Three years ago Johns Hopkins geriatric unit conducted a seminar at Mount Sinai discouraging it's use in the elderly.
