Avatar f tn He was born with traces of the drug in him. Mother has anxiety disorder and my husband has severe anger issues. As i am told from family members the mother would leave fruit bars around the house and sleep until 1pm. Knowing both of them for 4 years they are both at fault and in denial. Mother moved to Texas 2 years ago to get clean and get married. my son went to visit during summer and all hell broke loose.
Avatar f tn Have u googled the meds? I knw citalopram is for anxiety and depression. Risperidone is for mood disorder. My daughter takes them. Not sure bout the others. Google may help. Sorry couldnt be of more help. Good luck.
Avatar f tn s decision was based in part on a study of autistic people with severe and enduring problems of violent meltdowns, aggression, and self-injury; risperidone is not recommended for autistic people with mild aggression and explosive behavior without an enduring pattern.
Avatar n tn Keep to a good diet and exercise regime that is healthy for you. You may gain no weight at all. And if you do begin gaining weight, you and your doctor can determine if this side effect is worth the benefit of the drug. good luck to you and GREAT job overcoming your eating disorder!! Stay well.
Avatar f tn He was lovely, he spoke to me and diagnosed me with Bipolar disorder and referred me to the recovery team, he gave me blood forms and ecg forms before any mood stabilisers were given.
Avatar f tn My daughter is mentally retarded, has autism, ADHD, and more recently has been diagnosed with Intermittent Explosive disorder. She is 10 and her level of MR is severe so she is unable to tell me how she feels. She has always been aggressive towards herself and others. She has been on risperidone for many years. Recently we have tried other drugs and her symptoms of aggression have increased. She is currently on Strattera, serequel, and hydroxizine (to help her sleep).
603015 tn?1329862973 If I were you I would taper and stop the Risperidone and Stelazine and raise the Seroquel to thereuptic range or stop all three and start on Lamictal which is a known MS.You run the risk of Tardive Dyskinesia, diabetes if you take 3 AP's simaltenously.
Avatar n tn Most likely it could be a temporary movement disorder called Akithisia which will go away once Risdone is stopped.Stopping Risperidone cold turkey can provoke an awful withdrawal syndrome or return of original symptoms so wait till you see his new doc.I went through similar problems when I stopped Risdone suddenly. My Psychiatrist restarted me on low dose risdone of 1 mg and is tapering me off in 4 weeks.my side effects have abated and I am 16 days away from stopping Risperidone.

Avatar f tn She is better now and this was in the past but I was just concerned about the past behavior because I read about conduct disorder and know the symptoms are destroying property, cruelty to animals and stealing. I am not sure if what she did is considered cruelty to animals or not and none of these things were done within the same year either.
Avatar f tn (specifically a 5year old that has just begun kindergarden and is having trouble listening and following instructions, she is of average to a little above average intelligence with no medical or physical issues)

Avatar f tn im 25 and taking a mood stablizer for mood disorder. recently discovered that during sexual intercourse with my boyfriend and noticed some dryness during this. could any one help me with this?
Avatar f tn After the diagnosis of conduct disorder I did pick up on the connection in literature between adhd and conduct disorder and took her back to the family physician to try a low dose of amitryptaline (sp?) to help with rage as it's very effective with some with add or adhd. I too am add and my mother was and the older tricyclical antidepressants have been amazing in my family for add symptoms so she now on that but we just started that a couple of weeks ago.
Avatar m tn I have poor memory when I am kinda depressesed and good memory on elevated mood and mania and my intelligence , creativity etc also improves. Doctor told me that I have Fluctuating mood and he gave me a Tetracyclic Antidepressant (Mirtazapine) and an antipsychotic Risperidone. Yes, I had psychosis . But now I am avoiding my doctor's advice and taking only antidepressant and my memory/cognition is improved. But I am very little mania type now.
Avatar f tn Is there such thing if the person is not on meds? Can a bipolar disorder be less extreme than it is known to be.
Avatar n tn Doctor tried to up the dosage for Solian, it made me feel constricted again like the Risperidone and doctor suggested I try Risperidone again. This time, the same dosage as the last year, 2 mg Risperidone, made me feel okay and I began a new period, with a new job...I was also switched on Prozac(fluoxetine) 20mg and it worked fine for a while. I did a stupid thing, took 5 pills of Prozac because I was bored, wanted to use them sort of as drugs and I ended up hospitalized again...
1625195 tn?1332178662 I don't know about the law-suit. The correct term for the relationship between Celexa and Citalopram is not that the Citalopram is a "substitute". It is the "generic" version. Technically, they are the same. One is just usually cheaper to get than the other. "Celexa" is a name brand produced by a particular drug company. Risperidone is the generic form of Risperdal. Risperdal is classified as an anti-psychotic. It's also used as a mood stabilizer.
573297 tn?1304709140 If he started showing signs of irritability or other mood changes after starting the Vyanese then it would be essential to call this to the psychiatrist's attention and they can appropriately adjust or change the medications he takes within their discretion. Also keep track of what did help and when and if he has mood changes in general if they come and go and specifically how and when and call that to the psychiatrist's attention.
2067929 tn?1331241754 Thanks for your reply. I do like the stimulants. They work and work quickly and effectively. The downside to that is that my son needs to be on them constantly so he requires an ever-increasing dose to maintain its effectiveness. He was given the Prozac due to depression which, I believe, stems from the ADHD. The two together, however, seem to keep him moody. He is moody when he's not on anything at all as well. The risperidone was started when he was hospitalized with the depression.

Avatar n tn I must disagree with the other poster. Risperdal was approved by the FDA for use in children on the spectrum in 2006 to treat *repeated* bouts of aggression and irritability as are other anti-psychotics. My son was diagnosed with Asperger's when he was 3 and has been taking Risperidone (Risperdal) for 4 years in varying dosages. Without it he could not have attended mainstream schooling as his aggressive outbursts were a danger to himself, other children and adults.
Avatar n tn If it is auditory processing disorder then he is hearing some sounds differently and may well have auditory processing delays as well. This will have a big impact in the class because he will not hear correctly what the teacher says and will probably concentrate on the first sentence and miss the next 5 sentences. I would ask the SALT about that. Also google Central Auditory Processing Disorder to see what it is.
Avatar n tn during our office visit. I am confused exactly what a Shuddering Disorder is and what causes it. The neurologist said we could conduct further testing but did not feel it was necessary because he appears to be developing normally and the testing requires sedation. Any information would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn He has been diagnosed with conduct and another disorder that is close with conduct but can't remember the name at the moment. I've had him see a psychologist and a psychiatrist but was told everything was in my head and he was fine. I just don't know where or what to do and am tired of trying and being told the same things that it's all me when I know it's not.
Avatar m tn Hi adel did you encounter insomnia and sleep problems when you stopped risperidone as I am encountering these sleep problems now and the PDoc is fine with my speed of tapering the medication.
