i have schizophrenia and have recently started taking medication again after stopping for a few months. The doctor pescribed me 1mg risperidone and i have taken it for about 1 month. But for the past week i have had pain in my right breast ( i am a male thats a little overweight). The issueright now is very complex. I have right breast pain specifically near the nipple area but my main concern is i have a lump there.
i am 53 and still have a slight period about evry two months, my problem is my breast are very heavey, swollen, and quite painfull. i may have a good day once a month. if i lay down and get up the pain is awefull. when i take my bra off it is just as awefull. what could be wrong with the girls? not pregnant but is premenapausal.
I did experience that when I was on standard antipsychotics and its a common side effect. It depends on its severity. Having breast milk is rare but that can happen. It should go away in time. However keep your doctor informed and they will follow up. If they changed you to another medication that can cause it then it might not.
I must disagree with the other poster. Risperdal was approved by the FDA for use in children on the spectrum in 2006 to treat *repeated* bouts of aggression and irritability as are other anti-psychotics. My son was diagnosed with Asperger's when he was 3 and has been taking Risperidone (Risperdal) for 4 years in varying dosages. Without it he could not have attended mainstream schooling as his aggressive outbursts were a danger to himself, other children and adults.
Hi adel did you encounter insomnia and sleep problems when you stopped risperidone as I am encountering these sleep problems now and the PDoc is fine with my speed of tapering the medication.
It can occur in a hormonal imbalance, such as from taking birth control pills, hypothyroidism, chronic breast stimulation, such as from frequent breast self-exams or sexual activity and rarely in hypothalamic disorders. Confirmed by examination of the breast discharge under the microscope and by serum TSH levels.
In both these conditions, complete clinical evaluation is required. So in my opinion, it is advisable to consult your gynecologist and then start with a definite treatment.
my calves and feet gets swollen and tight and hard when i am on my feet either sitting or standing or walking for more then 3 or 4 hours. And i have calf and feet spasm that are severely painful sometimes especially after i am in an air-conditioned place walking or standing for more than one hour. I have very little varicose veins n i dont smoke or drink but i am on prozac 3 tablets in the morning and 2 tablets of risperidone at night. What is wrong with me?
my son, 9 , was taking risperidone 1mg BID. he has missed his doses for 2 days and now came home from summercamp with signs of tardive dyskinesia. Is this because of stopping the risperidone or has the risperidone been masking the tardive dyskinesia ?

My mother is very tired, often confused and has a shocking memory. She also gets up at night and looks for things or wanders around. The consultant has prescribed risperidone, although we were hoping for Aricept. I am very concerned about this as internet research suggests it is for aggressive behaviour and will result in oversedation even drooling. What you've done is reduced your risk for another estrogen positive breast cancer and ovarian cancer. But that doesn't mean you won't get a different type of breast cancer in the remaining breast tissue or another part of your body.
But you know as well as I do that each year we are NED with cancer is better for our odds.
I am 55 years old had recttal cancer removed 4/o8, and luckly no bag and no treatment. I have dense breast with micro calcification. Had a biopsy of right breast 2 years ago and was fine. Went for mamo and sono this past Monday and they saw microcalcification that they say is suspicious. So next friday I go to the hospital for yet anothet biopsy.
My question is, for my surgery in april for the rectal cancer I had a chest cat scan and a full body pet scan. Both came up good.
