risperdal vs xanax

I was switched from ativan to xanax 14 days ago and im feeling kinda more depressed would xanax do that..

I was on a tapering dose of 0.5 mg of Risperdal and had a week left to stop it but due to a lot of anxiety I took an additional 1 mg dose of Risperdal today.Does it mean that I have to start from scratch and again take an extra week"s 0.5 mg to complete 2 weeks at 0.5 mg or is it alright for me to continue to taper and stop Risperdal after 7 days as advised by my Psychiatrist.My Psychiatrist is out of town and is unavailable.

It could also be a combination of Risperdal and Xanax withdrawal as earlier i was on 1 mg xanax which was tapered from 2 weeks back to 0.75 mg now.All in all inspite of all this I will be very happy on stopping risperidone on 22nd as after that I will only be on Tegretol as before.

Since my anxiety was gone I had no desire to take benzos anymore and at that time I was averaging 2 Xanax bars per day, or 4mg of Xanax total per day average! That is a ton and after I got on Depakote, I had no need to take benzos anymore. Tangerine, maybe Depakote would work for you like it did for me! It saved my life hands down!! Best of luck!

Then you can stay down longer and not have the light wake you and give you more anxiety . Xanax has to many bad side effects and klonipin has an 8 hour half life vs Xanaxs 3. You just hang in there and all this anxiety and panic well go away . Trust someone who just did it last year. If I hadn`t started taking vics again im sure I would still be free of anxiety . Don`t go back to the norcos . They will turn on you again and but you in a deeper Hell on earth .. Hit me up if you want to talk ...

My doctor has put me on three medications (something bad happen to me) anyways they Luvox 100mg for OCD once a day, Xanax half a pill of a .5 3x a day, and Risperdal 1mg at night. I'm really scared of the affect of the Risperdal. It's keeps me very calm, which I like, but at the same time the side affect are really nerve recking. IDK what to do... I'm scared of taking this one pill now, even though it's helping me, greatly.

I developed severe akathisia after taking Seroquel, Risperdal and Prozac- we are not sure of which one was the offender- docs think most likely it was the risperdal however prozac was initiated around the same time. I was on seroquel many years without any difficulty. The seroquel and risperdal were given for sleeping problems and the prozac for anxiety.

t and the panic was increasing graduatelly until I needed a xanax to function. My doctor told me yesterday to take 2 mg risperdal at night and 2.5 mg zyprexa at the evening. I took the risperdal 6 hours ago and felt like stoned,a little bit something like depersonalization and at some moments my heart beats very hard and feel like vomiting. Is this a proper treatment for this kind of disorder or should I change doctor ??

PLease anyone who can help with this question,,,as i have stated before i was switched from ativan to xanax on nov 13 because after 3months on ativan the last month of it i thought was causing my dizziness( i was also on low dose of risperdal and it was stopped nov 13 also) since the change from ativan to xanax i feel like im in a black pit im scared i dont feel like going on and i have so much to be happy for Would this change make me so depressed....

If you do decide to temporaraly utilize Xanax to help with withdrawls then it is VERY important that you stop the Xanax after the Effexor withdrawl is passed. Usually about 2 or 3 months. Xanax is a very safe drug, but not one that you want to be taking over the long term. Reason being is that most people tend to build up resistance to Benzos like Xanax relitivly fast. Thus if you take it too long then more and more is required with each passing month just to get the same effect.

Just curious why you switched from Klonopin to xanax? Xanax seems to be a little stronger but wears off quicker and more abrubtly. Klonopin helps more with breakthrough anxiety in my opinion. A good friend of mine had to switch from Xanax to Klonopin because they were feelign withdrawals from xanax during the day...especially if they waited an extra hour or so to take their dose because they forgot.

So yesterday Abilify(2mg in am) was added to my 600mg(3002xd)Lithium, 1mg(1xd)Xanax and of course 50mg(1/2 or 1@bedtime)..Has anyone had any experience with Abilify?f it's something bad..nevermind.

I have been on Zoloft, wellbutrin, Risperdal, Depakote, Effexor, Lexapro, celexa, and am currently taking 3 Xanax a day and NOTHING seems to help. All suggestions are welcome.

Paxil is indicated for long term use, while Xanax is not. Do not increase Xanax - you risk developing a tolerance and it will likely become less and less effective. I'd investigate an alternate SSRI rather than increase the benzo. You'll regret it later if you rely on the X. Best Wishes.

I do not know if there are less side effects than xanax. I do know, however, that xanax is only supposed to be prescribed for short term use and as needed. Klonopin is for long-term daily use. I am sure someone will post here to help you.

My doctor took me off welbutrin (300) and I requeasted to be taken off the xanax was up to 6mg a day and was feeling really spacecadetish. She said the welbutrin is making my bipolar worse seeing how Im on a constant cyle? wouldnt that be better than a spiraling depression which is happening NOW. She put me on Haldol 2mg for racing thoughts etc and to slow me down and gave me .05 Ativan..whih is lkike taking a placebo after having all that xanax....

I am not too familiar with Klonopin but many people have switched from xanax to that..my thought about it though is that you say you are taking it to sleep. Xanax is an anti anxiety med and not very useful for sleep. i would consider tapering off it completely and try a med for sleep. I have taken xanax for many years and at one point was on @7mg..but I successfully weaned off it.

It is by far the better and safer choice over Xanax.......but perhaps his kickbacks are greater with the Xanax. One should always consider that when the prescription pad comes out! I would, POSSIBLY, give this doctor ONE last chance to redeem himself. Tell him you do not want the Xanax, that the diazepam is working very well for you, but if he still insists on prescribing Xanax, I would run, not walk, out of his office and find another doctor poste haste!

The only thing that made it go away was the Risperdal they put me on. Unfortunately I had to go off of it because it raised my prolactin (the hormone that makes women lactate and can also stop a womans period) level sky high. So now that I am not on it anymore the nervousness and irritability is coming back. I am on Latuda now but it doesn't seem to be working as good as the Risperdal did. I am not sure what to do. I just don't want to be all nervous and irritable again.

I don’t have as much anxiety issue anymore but whenever I try to taper of Xanax, I cannot sleep. When I asked him again, he said keep taking Xanax -XR for three months as he thinks different medications will have other side effects. I took a second opinion and the other Dr told me to taper off Xanax and use Trazodone 50mg everyday. 1mg Xanax is definitely helping me with sleep but I am apprehensive about switching drugs especially the first Dr was emphatic about staying on Xanax.
