Avatar n tn You are taking Risperdal likely to stop your hallucinations and/or schizophrenia. Marijuana is a hallucinogenic drug. Duh. Stop that.
Avatar n tn I believe so. Someone I know takes that for schizophrenia. I'm not A Dr. though. I think if you look up the drug name on-line it will tell you all about it.
Avatar m tn I've been taking Risperdal 1mg for a month now what would happen if I stop taking them for a week and then start smoking weed
Avatar f tn My 4 year old started risperdal on 28 May for the conditions are above. Will she take it forever or is it a lifetime treatment This discussion is related to Depakote, Risperdal, Luvox in 8 year old boy.
Avatar m tn I took Risperdal Consta and Lithium for 7 months while being in the hospital. When I got out of the hospital, boy was I sorry! My cognitive abilities were down about 70%. I also had sleeping problems and chronic fatigue. When I read a book, I had no memory retention of what I read. If you value your son's life, take him off all the drugs, drugs are poison, and take him to a homeopathic doctor.
Avatar m tn Yeah, I would talk to your doctor. I really don't know much about schizophrenia and medication, other than it is helpful in the psychotic part. Maybe there is something out there that is better. They psychiatrist at my work did say it is an older medicine, though, so it could well be that there is something better now. There have been great advances in treating schizophrenia, so just stick to it and everything will work out.

Avatar n tn Proate 500 ---- Proate is used as an anticonvulsant and mood-stabilizing drug, primarily in the treatment of epilepsy, bipolar disorder, and, less commonly, major depression. It is also used to treat migraine headaches and schizophrenia. Zosert 50------ Zosert is a selective serotonin reputate inhibitor. It's used for depression, anxiety, ocd, panic. Sizodon 2 is an atypical antipsychotic. Risperdal is the name in my country.
Avatar n tn My 3 year old son has been diagnosed with ODD and has been put on risperdal but he is still very violent towards my 11 month old daughter, myself and my mum. He hits, pushes, bites and he also sits on my daughter pusher, pulls her hair and sometimes bangs her head into things. I am at my wits end not knowing what to do.
Avatar n tn I am writing for answers for my 15 Year old son with Autism. He has been on Risperdal for about 5 years now and was taking 4mg x 2 daily, HIGH, I KNOW. He is 5'10" 165 lbs. For about the past 6 months he has started with some new behaviors. I relayed these to his Psychiatrist and she has had no comment on them. I researched them myself and found they mimic Tardive dyskinesia in many ways. I have found a new Psychiatrist but can not get in to see her for approx 2 more weeks.
Avatar n tn my son was treated for an acute anxiety attack in his university ER with risperdal 4 days ago. he has not been the same ever since. he has had all of the classic signs of toxicity from this drug. he was treated in our local ER (2 days later) with benedryl and adavan and he seemed fine following the treatment. but the dystonic reactions, disorganized thinking, anxiety, all symptoms continue.
Avatar m tn I am wondering if this is a plausible cause. He was also on Risperdal and Depakote and Trileptal and Terazadone and Lamictal, of course not all at the same time. I am sure I spelled all these meds wrong. We are having trouble finding any professional who will take an active interest in the urgency of our problem with both the aggression and the onset of these tic behaviors. We really need some help.
12268405 tn?1427853361 While you have posted in the Depression forum, you actually might try the Schizophrenia forum, because the hallmark of that disorder is hearing voices. This can create paranoia, depression, and confused thinking. Clozapine and Minocycline (Mino is new) are the very best drugs to take for your condition. The new drug, Minocycline, is originally an antibiotic, but turns out it substantially helps with few side effects the problems of schizophrenia.
Avatar f tn The Risperdal can have many negative effects on children. These type of anti-psychotic drugs have never been tested on children so the long term side effects of children using this drug are relatively unknown. My brother was put on this drug when he was younger and has suffered from extreme weight gain and facial tics. The tics never go away - even with stopping the drug. Risperdal is not usually used for PTSD or ADHD as it is an anti-psychotic.
Avatar m tn risperdal works much like seraquil...for schizophrenia and bipolar disorders..but has a side effect of deep sleep ..vistaril is an antihistamine with a side effect of drowsiness as well..i am glad u got some sleep..sounds like it was much needed..sleep is important to recovery as we become weak without it...i do know some say they have a medicine head after taking seraquil and risperdal....that droggy feeling in the am....
Avatar f tn t taken an antipsychotic all these years though I wish they had caught up with the tardive in time before it progressed this far. But with new treatments in the works for schizophrenia such as the glutamate antagonists (of which I'm on glycine as a study compound and fully recovered) hopefully people with schizophrenia won't get it anymore after they become medications. And right now I'm recovering well with the rhodiola as I've mentioned as well as the Tizanidine.
Avatar f tn First, I can find no indication that risperdal is indicated for ADHD. " In 2006, the FDA approved risperidone for the treatment of irritability in children and adolescents with autism.[6] The FDA's decision was based in part on a study of autistic people with severe and enduring problems of violent meltdowns, aggression, and self-injury; risperidone is not recommended for autistic people with mild aggression and explosive behavior without an enduring pattern.
Avatar n tn He is currently on Depakote for his epilepsy and was on Risperdal, until he had to be weaned off due to even more aggressive behavior. At home, he acts fine, occasionally defiant, but nothing really bad. At school, he gets sent home frequently and now they are saying he is having paranoid behavior. He thinks people are out to get him, talking bad about him, don't like him, etc. His school has made an appointment with the school psychiatrist, but is talking about possible hospitalization.
Avatar f tn Haldol and Orap are antipsychotics and can commonly cause short term movement disorders and have twice a potential as current atypical antipsychotics to cause tardive dyskinesia.

Avatar m tn t mean that the syptoms of adhd will improve with risperdal. Risperdal seems to help with aggressive behavior and behavior problems in general and likely communication. with kids on the spectrum. It seems to help with irritability and aggressiveness. Because of this, some doctors may use it for adhd if that is how a person presents. Now with regards to tics. My son has tics. He has two types. Simple vocal tics which are a hum or throat clearing sound.
Avatar m tn ve had a constant dull pain in my head in addition to frequent and consistent migraines (classic without aura) my entire life (including childhood). I also hallucinate frequently (not due to a psychotic break or Schizophrenia etc according to a variety of psychiatrists).
477940 tn?1212964169 I am just curious as to why your doctor put you on a medication used for schizophrenia? I did some cross referencing and discovered that it has the same active ingredient as Risperdal. Also, I researched if it is safe during pregnancy and came to find that it increases the risk of having a still born baby. I will post the links: http://****.emedtv.com/ http://www.****.com/ This drug is secondary for use in bipolar disorder.
