Common Questions and Answers about Risperdal ocular side effects

risperdal

Avatar n tn I am on risperdal and I was wondering what the possible side effects are of smoking marijuana while on this medication.
Avatar m tn There was one side effect that I read that sort of concerned me aside from the movement side effects. Does the inability to move the eyes always go away or can it be permanent? How long does it take for it to go away if it occurs?
Avatar f tn The neurologist put him on risperdal. I just read horrible side effects, like breasts on boys. Is there a more " beginner" drug? Since we see a neurologist instead of child psychologist, I am fearful he doesn't know as much about behavioral medications. Sorry so long.
337492 tn?1212458836 I have a job interview Monday and I really want it. Anyone have luck on a low dose of Risperdal w/o yucky side effects? I need a reliable sleep aid!
2010625 tn?1329372056 I really dislike medication changes...it is always a roll of the dice to see what it is going to do...
Avatar n tn Risperdal could be causing side effects. It caused a lot of side effects in me and when I got better I had my Pdoc taper it to 0.5 mg and will soon stop it.
Avatar m tn Okay, let me ask this a different way? I want to get off the saphris because of the side effects but am afraid of being suicidal again. I'd heard Risperdal is used as a "booster" med for people being on anti-depressants. I take 40mg citalopram (generic version of celexa) and 225 mg Venlafaxine (for effexor) each day, then went to 5mg saphris in am and bedtime. I wondered about using Risperdal hoping not to have the same side effects.
886552 tn?1241590297 Someone I now was on the same medication because of being diagnosed with schizophrenia. He had side effects like you describe. Turns out he was misdiagnosed and is now off the meds. He no longer has any of the symptoms and is perfectly fine. He was on the meds. only 6 months however. So if you feel you are in a similar situation, I encourage you to discuss it with your doctor and see if the meds. are really needed. Never just stop taking meds. though.
1798419 tn?1315810427 told me that Effexor may attribute to weight gain, and it DOES state this in the side effects printed from the manufacturer, so your Dr. is incorrect. Do your homework and don't trust all the Doctors, find a good one, and also consider natural health options if you possibly can. Good luck!
1625195 tn?1332178662 Is there any way possible to cut the hunger side-effects? Or any tips to battle the nausea that it causes? Before this whole medicine nonsense was happening, I was trying to lose weight (safely!) and this hunger pain and headaches are making this goal really difficult. And the nausea is making day to day tasks harder than the depression was making things. And this is the last round of questions, promise! Its about the Citalopram/Celexa. There is a suit going against Celexa.
886552 tn?1241590297 My comment is kind of void! My side effects were just at start up of the drug! Good luck, I truly hope things get better.
Avatar f tn But for me any kind of medication is the last resort, especially whilst their brains are growing. All medicines have side effects. Some of the medication prescribed for autism/ADHD can have permanent effects such as tics etc. Also, you don't have a diagnosis yet, so how do they know what to prescribe? I know other parents who have had hormes prescribed to help with sleep.
642393 tn?1227032656 Abilify has a lot of information on the web about side effects and a quick google may work well, always remember that side effects are not all going to happen to you or even likely - Abilify is well liked and fairly safe compared to some of the AP and AC drugs like Geodon and Risperdal.
Avatar n tn I am sorry your boy is having some problems, have you checked with your Doctor to make sure it is not the Risperdal causing his behavior ,you may be able to put it into your search Engine and side effects to see what comes up, maybe they have someting else.
Avatar n tn I think the problem is more the Risperdal then the Concerta. Side effects listed for Risperdal include - Aggressive behavior, agitation, anxiety, stiffness or weakness of the arms or legs, tic-like or twitching movements, trembling and shaking of the fingers and hands, trouble sleeping, and twisting body movements. The site said to, "Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking risperidone:" talking about those mentioned above.
Avatar n tn Ok the meds he is on can cause insomnia (reperidone) the other can cause restlessness. I would certainly ask my dr. about this.
Avatar m tn How do you manage withstand side effects of both Risperidone and Seroquel.I found even 1mg of Risperidone made me edgy, nervous and anxious. My hypomanic episode resolved in July and my Pdoc was a month late in tapering Risperidone. He started tapering process in September. In future I shall keep far away from these antipsychotics as possible.A most distasteful experience.
559509 tn?1216180446 Not sure how long she had used it or any side effects which may have occurred (lost touch) She is currently just using lithium and doing well. I didn't see any weight gain side effects when I googled it, and I currently work with many patients who use it and haven't seen it there either. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn It is calming her down but it also making her thinking for lazy. Are these common side effects? Additionally, I read that it can increase heart beat and fluctuate blood pressure. Her blood pressure is already high and she is on several medications to control that. I just think my mother is on way too much medication that is all counteracting each other. Her main issue at the current time is her cellulitis and open sores.
Avatar n tn Abilify is somewhat different than Risperdal as it is a SDA (Serotonin Dopamine Agonist) and as well it is the least likely out of the antipsychotics to cause weight gain and diabetes and less sedating. If it has helped you better or caused less side effects for you than Risperdal your psychiatrist needs to write a letter documenting why. What you need to do is to call your insurance company and find out how to contest a denial of coverage.
Avatar n tn what are withdrawl effects on children age 9year old female coming off risperidone? dosages was 0.5mg of rispiradone in the morning with 72 mg of concerta for ADHD. AND A 0.
Avatar f tn 5mg, and Imipramine. My question is first is this safe to mix and second what side effects could this mixture cause?
Avatar m tn It can cause effects that appear to be psychiatric at times. If its akathesia or extra pyramidal side effects then your psychiatrist could titrate the anti-psychotics and add a side effect pill to control it. If its tardive dyskinesia such as I have, which can emerge in a variety of forms including tardive dystonia then they would switch you over to Clozaril immediately as it can be very dangerous in advanced forms (such as I have).
Avatar f tn Unfortunately the long term ocular side effects are still unkown for this drug. So for now the drug does have FDA approval for appropriate use. I wish I could answer your question - but I don't think anyone knows. Michael J.
