As for Risperdal quiet a few people have problem's with weight gain from that drug i did also , but i found it more effective in smaller dose than higher because i got other side effect's at a higher dose simmilar to the Ziprasidone.

I stop it on 22nd November and after that I resume tapering Xanax.currently I am taking 0.75 mg at night.My Pdoc has advised to reduce Xanax by 0.125 mg a week(1/2 of 0.25 mg tablet) till I stop that too as he says it is habit forming.

He is 10 and on Concerta 54 mg (for last almost 3 years) and Zoloft 100 mg and Intuniv 2 mg and recently Risperdal 0.25 mg every am and 0.5 mg q pm. The neurologist wanted to add another med Abilify on board as he was still having some outburst behavior. I find this troubling that he wants my child on 5 psychoactive meds. we sought a second opinion from a psychiatrist that our son's therapist recommended.

We have upped all the amounts except the risperdal is still at 2 mg a day. He was much better in the beginning. He takes 3 mg of tenex, 2 mg of risperdal and 10 mg of prozac. He still is impulsive and gets into arguments. It seems to be an ongoing problem to adjust his meds. We see the psychaitrist monthly. He has been on other meds and they either made him worse or stopped working. We used Abilify to 15 mg and it stopped being effective. All stimulants made him hyper and agitated.

If it effects your sleep you could ask your psychiatrist whether you could take the 2 mg. Risperdal dose in the A.M. In general Risperdal is sedating but can sometimes cause sleep disruption but each person responds differently to each medicaation. It would also depend on whether it would make you tired during the day. Also you could ask if the dose could be titrated (spaced out) into two or more doses during the day.

It could also be a combination of Risperdal and Xanax withdrawal as earlier i was on 1 mg xanax which was tapered from 2 weeks back to 0.75 mg now.All in all inspite of all this I will be very happy on stopping risperidone on 22nd as after that I will only be on Tegretol as before.

thanks buddy I told my friend to have 1 mg risperidone for 4 days and then 0.5 mg for 4 days and stop it.I also came down from 1.5 mg risperidone to 0.5 mg the same way without much withdrawl syptoms and he agreed.My Pdoc was out of town so a pharmacist told me to reduce it this way.Now I plan to stop my risperdal in 4 days time.

I was taking risperdal for 6 month (4MG) and stopped "cold turkey" as the doctor suggested. now for 2 month i am having insomnia. can not sleep more then 3 hours per night. What can i do and how long should it take to get my normal sleep? how long the insomnia last?

t and the panic was increasing graduatelly until I needed a xanax to function. My doctor told me yesterday to take 2 mg risperdal at night and 2.5 mg zyprexa at the evening. We are very new to this, but my question is my loved one has been on Depakote and Risperdal for 8 days now and the mood stabilizer seems to be working great, completely stable in moods but still in the hospital. My concern is that the delusions are still there and even getting worse. Could it be the confinement or is there another medication to address this. What is the Risperdal supposed to address. Are there medications available to address the delusions?

Hi,in my case my Pdoc has withdrawn me gradually from Risperidone from 3 mg to 0.5 mg over 8 weeks and from 1 mg to 0.5 mg over 2 weeks yet I am having these anxiety symptoms which I did not have prior to starting Risperidone which was started for a manic/hypomanic episode in July.I am Ok and am on Tegretol as a mood stabilizer and encountered plenty of side effects from Risperdal like lethargy,dullness so He decided to take it off me.I wonder how long this will go on.

I have BP I and I'd been on 3mg risperdal since I got out of the hospital last year. I put on 30 lbs. I begged my Psych NP to let me try something with less metabolic side effects. Well doctor gave me 2mg risperdal. At the beginning i was ok. When i start to worry little bit i started to get ill. I was disable to concentrate on my work. Later i took seroquel 300mg which i took in past and found some freshness. I was smooth on seroquel but when doctor start changing medicine from seroquel to risperdal , slowly disaster begin on my life. I miss 2 jobs. Which was so easy. Later i took the seroquel back i felt some relief now.

incidentally the reason you found risperdal awful is either the dose was high or it interacts with your tegretol.

i take risperdal and i still have my sex drive differrent people respond differently to differrent medications prozac killed my sex drive for two years andi only took it for three months :)

medication cocktails people are seeing these days for OCD and especially the pure O type? I am currently on 112.5 mg of Effexor and moving up to 150 mg soon. I was "fine" for about 6 years after my last bout of medication (Risperdal and Zoloft) that I quit due to horrible weight gain. So, I am also looking to find the most weight neutral combination as well.
