Risperdal and ritalin taken together

Common Questions and Answers about Risperdal and ritalin taken together

risperdal

Avatar f tn My doc gave me Ritalin for ADD and Effexor for depression but this last one gave me too many side effects and I stopped taking it. Now he switched me to Wellbutrin (150 mg once a day) and 30 mg Ritalin. I have felt sick but am not sure if it is the withdrawal effects from stopping Effexor or the mixture of Wellbutrin and Ritalin. I feel brain spasms, especially in the back of my head. Today I did not take the Ritalin and felt no spasms.
4509053 tn?1355665640 He is doing well on Intunviv (4mg) during the day and was doing well on Risperdal (.5mg) for mood regulation, but it was causing wetting his pants during the day. Now that he is on a reduced dosage, his outbursts, tantrums, impulsivity, and tics (right now, picking his nose) are worse, and his wetting hasn't improved all that much. Are there any alternatives that could address the same issues, equally well, without the wetting side-effect?
Avatar n tn Spouse taking Seroquel, Lithium, & Geodon. Auditory hallucinations & delusions began about a month ago with no prior history of mental illness (we've been together 14 years). He was however abusing oxycodone, oxycontin, xanax, soma, & ritalin. We took him to the ER 3 wks ago & he was put on risperdal 1mg x1 wk, then 2mg before going back to ER. With no past mental illness history & age ~40...
7087196 tn?1389306119 They have tried Celexa, Risperdal, Quafanicine (unsure of spelling) and they work for a very short time and his behavior gets worse then it was before. He said in school on the 18th, he wanted to shoot all the kids in his second grade class, after he pushed a girl when she was mean to him. Around the same time frame right, before school, he said he wished he was never born. He has also told me recently all the friends he had were no longer his friends.
Avatar n tn I would like to know what would be a good allergy medicine that can be taken with risperdal. I have given my son benadryal in the past and he would become calm but since the risperdal he gets very hyper and stays up all night. My son has seasonal allergies. I have given him claritin and it does not work. Thank you for any advice you can give.
Avatar f tn So, I began the course of meds and my so became a MONSTER. He was horrible and crying one minute and quiet and sad the next. I went back to the DR he switched up his meds which included Risperdal which made him a complete zombie. I guess my question is: How do you treat Tourette Syndrome. My son does not have any of the "classic signs" of this disease, I was in a state of shock after being told he had it!
1020229 tn?1251471842 the doctor we are currently seeing had her on impusivity pills (risperdal) which just made her worse , she started school about a week and half ago since then there have been several behavioral issues with her she even went as far as to yell at the teacher.
Avatar n tn I take ADD meds along with Abilify and Seroquel at night. I'm currently on Vyvanse because my focus and concentration were out of control. I couldn't stay on one topic for more than a few minutes if I tried. This new drug has helped. I have cleaned up my desk and gotten some issues that I put off resolved. I love Vyvanse and you only take it once a day. I think you will see great changes once she's got her meds straight. It's just a matter of finding the right one.
309783 tn?1271958229 She tells me everything and described her anxiety and feelings of ups and downs. She thought she might be bi-polar and went to a psychiatric hospital for evaluation and advice. They did not take her onto their caseload as she did not appear to have a serious mental illness. She went back to her GP today who prescribed risperdal. I'm really worried she's been given the wrong medication. Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn I have never had these sort of symptoms before. Could taking these medications together cause these symptoms? I have taken Risperdal in conjunction with other medications previously and have had no problems.
Avatar f tn It will take a few months to build up to a full dose of Lamictal and if you have angry outbursts that get physical your psychiatrist might want you to take Risperdal and then as the Lamictal builds up to a full dose see if you can do without it so that you have full stability in the meantime as Risperdal unlike Lamictal works right away. Risperdal of course has a good mood stabilization effect. They can coordinate about this as well.
Avatar f tn can armour, nexium and allegra 24 hour be taken together together in the morning on an empty stomach
351317 tn?1204751871 Well i haven't taken Ritalin regularly in a long time and I hardly drink any caffeine anymore. I would like to drink caffeine because lately I have been feeling really tired and could use the boost.
Avatar m tn I saw my psychiatrist today and he told me Ritalin must be taken cautiously with patients with tics because it aggravates tics. I am 27 years old and have been taking Ritalin since I was about 13. I used to have a blinking eye tic but Ritalin didnt seem to aggravate it. However I got a funny spasm in my left eye and the doc said its fine. The one question I forgot to ask him was if Ritalin could cause my eye tic to spiral out of control in the future.
Avatar f tn My son has tourette syndrome. He has intermittent explosive disorder. He explodes, and then, when sent to " get himself together" he comes back fine. After he explodes, he will run and hide to give himself time to recoup. (A problem at malls and other social situations. He is eight, and now he's having problems at school. Everyone agrees he's great after regaining control, he just can't seem to anticipate what sets him off.
Avatar f tn My name is Bob, and I have had ADHD as long as I have lived. I have taken Ritalin for most of my life, but my doctor recently switched my to Vyvanse. Because I had some Ritalin left, I tried it at the same time as the Vyvanse. It worked perfectly. The problem is that the DEA are quite strict, and they don't think that is cool, apparently. Some doctors, however, are fine with writing prescriptions for two ADHD drugs; I just have to find out who they are.
Avatar m tn I defenitly notice that light is more bright after my second dose of Ritalin. In the morning when my eyes are dropped with Atropine and I have taken my first dose, I only notice bright light cause of the Atropine. But when I've taken my second dose of Ritalin I notice the light is much more brighter after 20-30 minutes, which will last till late night. Although I still have some questions, cause will Cyclogyl dilate the pupil larger then Atropine?
Avatar f tn I did try to research Lunesta and Addrell together, not finding anything on those 2 together. The info I find on long term Lunesta use states if the person does not have prior drug abuse (I've never had this issue) there was reason to be concerned. I was not having any side effects from them at all. Question- has anyone else had problems with Lunesta and Adderall? or heard of anyone having issues with these meds? Or a reliable study showing these results or similar.
Avatar f tn Last week I was prescribed Armour thyroid to be taken 3 times per day, with the first dose to be taken in the morning together with a low dose of synthroid. Has anyone heard of this? I spoke to two pharmacists and they both report they have never seen it prescribed that way. Please help!!!
Avatar m tn I have not had any trouble taking Lamotrigine 250mg BID for atypical seizures. Methylphenidate 20mg BID commonly called Ritalin, prescribed for concentration issues. I have taken these for well over 2 years now with no indication of petite mal or grand mal seizures, or seizures of any kind. My ability to concentrate has increased dramatically. I asked my neurologist about sleep and he told me to take the Lamotrigine 250x2 1 time/day.
Avatar m tn I take 40mg citalopram (generic version of celexa) and 225 mg Venlafaxine (for effexor) each day, then went to 5mg saphris in am and bedtime. I wondered about using Risperdal hoping not to have the same side effects. My husband is really concerned as are my closest friends.
Avatar f tn My son was on the concerta and got tics from it and when he was taken off of it, about 6 months later the tic had dissapeared completely. Check out the info on www.cbn.com and type in ADD and look for the article on curing children with ADD/ADHD. Also type in the search area L-theanine and look for the article on Feeling a little unfocused. Both are great articles and help to understand more on what other things are out their besides drugs.
Avatar f tn It has affected my marital intimacy worse than any other drug I have ever taken. I have taken it ONLY five and a half weeks!!!!! He took me off cold turkey, little scared about that and put me on 500mg depakote once a day. I also have had shorter sleep time, about six hours at the most. Now tonight, first night off woke up at 3:00am with pain and trying to doze off but can't...I know computer keeps you up.
2010625 tn?1329372056 I taken all the above and had to quit them for weird side effects. I now take Abilify and it has changed my world. I am doing better than I ever have. It was harsh to start though. It made my stomach so sore for a couple of months. Really bad. But it does great things for my brain. I know every body is different - this is just my story. If it were me I would replace rather than add. Keeping the risperadol on board will continue the girly issues.
Avatar n tn I have never, ever, ever taken Ritalin to stay up all night or crushed it and snorted it or anything. Is this withdrawal? Can I be dependent on Ritalin even if I always took it as directed? I've wanted to go off of it, but any time I try, I get all this going on, and I live with two very, very anti-psychiatry people who will just lecture me even more if I say "I feel like ****, I didn't take my Ritalin." At this point...
Avatar f tn Ritalin is very addictive and no where I have ever read other wise. Do NOT self medicate if you think you have adhd plz go see your doctor and have them evaluate you .i would strongly suggest seen as you are already addicted to your pills you stay far away for another very addicting medication.
Avatar n tn I waited a few months to make sure that going off of the Lithobid did not worsen any of my syptoms, and then started a long process of going off of my Risperdal. I was taking 4mg and over about 5-6 months I slowly got off of that as well. I had been very apprehensive about what problems might arise without the Risperdal. In the past I have had a lot of problems with anxiety and manic phases.
