Avatar n tn 4 Months after her last dose she got pancreatis and Bells Palsy and now her jaw moves back and forth under stress. Is Bells palsy linked to tardive dyskinesia? I read in the Facial Nerve Book that it is.
Avatar f tn s disease and I am her closest contact and would like information on this disease. I understand that it is rather rare, but any comment would be helpful as I am getting nowhere on my search for info.
410281 tn?1254229064 I have a friend who has restless leg syndrome and she is on some kind of Parkinsons Disease drug and it has helped her a lot, but she was running all night, she was pretty bad. I had never heard of Restless leg syndrome until I met her. Hope someone else can be of more help to you, Udkas.
Avatar n tn Hi! Like all drugs, Carbi-levo can also cause side effects. This could include anorexia, nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure, dizziness, chest pain, muscle cramps, body aches, itch etc. If you are feeling some of these symptoms then please consult your doctor. Parkinson’s disease is one cause for involuntary movements of the body both localized and generalized.
Avatar m tn He said with my tremors and slow movement and memory problems it all points to Parkinson's they put me on levodopa to see if it helps and if it does than it is Parkinson's. I guess its trial and error.
1516809 tn?1345082764 My elderly mother has Alzheimer's Disease, she is 87, and recently developed elevated Liver Enzymes. Her geriatrician stopped all her meds including those for Alzheimers to stabilize her liver. Once her Liver stabilized, the doctor introduced Risperdal stating that it is less liver antagonistic. I have read much about Risperdal being fatal to the elderly but I have also read that given in low doses it is quite effective.
1803281 tn?1316011613 Does your husband have both MS and Parkinsons? I don't know much about Parkinson's. I am sorry. I wonder if there is a Parkinson's forum here? I wish I could be more helpful. :( Hugs to you, I am sure this is a difficult diagnosis to here.
Avatar f tn Recently, she was told that she had parkinsons because she has started shaking. No test was performed to show this and I have asked her to ask her doctor whether or not it could be something else. It seems to be worse when she is eating her meals, and there are symptoms such as hands turning purple due to no circulation, easy bruising and weak leg muscles. She does excercise to combat getting older and would like to remain active.
Avatar m tn I have a fear that I have Parkinsons Disease but my dr's don't seem to think so. I am a 34 year old female. My left hand tremors when it is in a resting position similar to the way you hold your hands while meditating in yoga. If I hold my hand like that or even when it's just laying in my lap my hand will tremor. It stops when I move it. I also have pain in the hand similar to what I think arthritis might feel like and my arm also has a dull achy pain.
Avatar n tn I would like to know what would be a good allergy medicine that can be taken with risperdal. I have given my son benadryal in the past and he would become calm but since the risperdal he gets very hyper and stays up all night. My son has seasonal allergies. I have given him claritin and it does not work. Thank you for any advice you can give.

Avatar f tn As of a week ago i was told it might not be parkinsons disease but MS or worse yet another neurological disorder .Dr order a MRI of my brain.Next he said one of my neck???I suffer from severe stiffness, waddling gait ,walking problems, small tremors, and going to the Dr today for cloudy vision in my left eye.I am 44 female, with other health issues too.I have heard MS a lot from a few doctors through out my life.So really not a big shock.
Avatar n tn The ER did a CT scan which suggested parathyroid disease. Doctor ran a series of test checking metabolic, cbc, and pth levels - all normal. Then did and MRI which also shows parathyroid disease - (calcification present) Now I am being sent to a Neurologist and it has me nervous because my family history includes a father who had cancer, a mother that dies from ALS, a grandfather that had Parkinsons, and bunches of diabetics. What else can cause this ?
Avatar n tn Is there any connection between Parkinsons and Tourettes? I have Parkinsons and my grandson has Tourettes. Both can be treated with deep brain stimulation. They both involve dopamine. Has anyone studied the relationship?
Avatar n tn Shaky hands can be due to stress and anxiety, too much consumption of caffeine or alcohol, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), autoimmune disease like multiple sclerosis, thyroid disorders, nerve compression in the spinal area, and liver disease. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn and this is a total guess given its impossible to be sure what your Dr was referring too, but with the small description you provided in your post - of loss of balance, memory loss and short steps when walking, could it be parkinsons disease? Parkinsons is not normally associated directly with stroke or diabetes though, but I guess they can occur together (or not), if that makes sense.
Avatar f tn It will take a few months to build up to a full dose of Lamictal and if you have angry outbursts that get physical your psychiatrist might want you to take Risperdal and then as the Lamictal builds up to a full dose see if you can do without it so that you have full stability in the meantime as Risperdal unlike Lamictal works right away. Risperdal of course has a good mood stabilization effect. They can coordinate about this as well.
Avatar f tn Thankfully an electric toothbrush solved that but the final result was a diagnosis of parkinsons from two separte neurologists about 1 year later. 5 years on and all the shakes and stiffness are still on the right side of my body. Is this normal? from what i have read i would have expected it to take over the left side, not that I am wishing for that. I refused to take any parkinsons medication until necessary only on propanol 2 per day for anxiety and to help the shakes at the time.
Avatar n tn Well it depends. Risperdal is an antipsychotic and it is effective in treating psychosis. Asperger's is a developmental disability and thus doesn't specifically respond to antipsychotics. What is the Risperdal specifically being used for? Also there is a community specifically for Asperger's.
Avatar f tn The finding is the latest in a succession of recent reports contradicting the long-held assumption that the new drugs, which include Risperdal, Zyprexa and Seroquel, are safer than the older and much less expensive medications that they replaced. The risk of death from the drugs is not high, on average about 3 percent in a person being treated at least 10 years, according to the study, published Thursday in The New England Journal of Medicine.
Avatar n tn I was taking risperdal for 6 month (4MG) and stopped "cold turkey" as the doctor suggested. now for 2 month i am having insomnia. can not sleep more then 3 hours per night. What can i do and how long should it take to get my normal sleep? how long the insomnia last?
Avatar n tn THis is a very debilitating disease and has all kinds of symptoms that mimik other diseases such as MS, Parkinsons, Fibro and chronic fatigue. Find out from the Lyme disease organizations about what doctors are espeically trained in treating this disease. There are a lot of doctors who think that just because you don't get a bullseye rash that you don't have it but many many people do not show a rash. Thanks Laurie This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn I have hand tremors and when I went to the doctor he immediately said I have Parkinsons. Are there not other things that can cause this? This discussion is related to hand shaking....tremors?.
