Risperdal and klonopin

Common Questions and Answers about Risperdal and klonopin

risperdal

Last year i was put on a low dose of risperdal 1/2 mg for racing thoughts,so my dr is going to start me back on that again tonight,i dont remember how it made me feel but i know i slept sound on it,,,,,,,its a very low dose and im hoping it will help my anxiety and mood and therefore help me with going off the klonopin.......anyone on this med or have any thoughs?
But I still would like to ask a few more. I have tried to get off of Risperdal and have managed to do without it for about a month each time I try. I do not get psychotic but I start feeling really bad. I can't describe it, I get really quiet, I just feel terrible. (1) Is that any reason to continue an antipsychotic? (2) Do you know what the "feeling really bad" is? I don't understand why I start feeling bad or what it is. (3) Do you think it is generalized anxiety?
i stopped Risperdal about 13 days ago I was on it since sept 13 08 for racing thoughts..
Hi I have been on risperdal since sept 13,08 and i also found out in sept i have minimal subtle septal ischemia and the dr stopped my risperdal 1 week ago i was on it for racing thoughts i read if u have heart problems u shouldnt take it,but since being off it im having the racing thoughts again im was on a low dose 1/2 mf of risperdal Any of you out there have heart problems and take risperdal?
I currently take Depakote, Risperdal and Cogentin (the latter to control the tremor from the Risperdal) and my doctor mentioned I could probably try Abilify instead. This regimen keeps my moods very stable (although a little bit unmotivated and depressed all the time) but I am concerned about what I feel is mental confusion, although it is hard to blame that on a particular drug, other health factors, advancing age, eating habits or something else.
i have been on haldol which was crippling, got off it, then onto risperdal, geodon, and seroquel. the most tolerable is risperdal however i tend to need something to help me get to sleep very badly. i dont fall asleep easily. thats when my psychiatric nurse moved me on to geodon then seroquel along with risperal. both of these i find not very tolerable at all. with seroquel i will sleep very sound though i might suffer some bad hallucinations getting there. and i will oversleep with it.
1) Is it typical and appropriate to prescribe daily doses of Klonopin, Lactical, Seroquel, AND Celexa (plus Xanax on an as needed basis)? 2) If so, would it be typical and appropriate for a patient who has never had a seizure, and has not been diagnosed with manic depression, schizophrenia, or any other psychosis? 3) Would the combination of these 4 (or 5) drugs be likely to cause a side effect of interference with thinking, memory, and speech?
I recently went thru detox and got off the Xanax plus I quit drinking. i was put on 0.5 mg. Klonopin once a day and risperdal 1 mg. at bedtime. I pretty much have stopped it. (the Risperdal) My question is, I have recently started having a few beers dailey. Is this a bad problem with the Klonopin? I dont like being on it since i was on Xanax so long. My concern is what will drinking beer with Klonopin do? Can it cause a stiff neck?
I am on 1/2 mg. of Risperdal,10 mg. of Celexa (these i take once a day) also 0.5 mg. of Klonopin(twice a day) My Dr. told me its ok to have a couple beers. I know i drank a couple months ago more than 2 beers and was fine. I would like one or 2 beers once in a while but now Im afraid I might die or something. is my dr. right that a couple wont hurt? He said my doses of meds are pretty low. Just would like more advice.
I am really looking into it as I think it will be a good combination for me. I am also looking into it because I am also on Klonopin and want to get off of it. It doesn't help with the cycling either; it just makes the down episodes much worse. I am thinking that the Lamictial/Lithium combination will really help me in this aspect.
I have been having right sided abdominal pain stretching into my back under my shoulder blade, pain with touch on my abdomen, loss of appetite, indigestion (heartburn) without relief of my medication, yellow stools, loose stools, and sometimes after I eat I get violent chills and shakes. Also I have been getting slight itching sensation on my rib area near where I get the pain- this being the most recent symptom. The ultrasound they did on me put me in pain for days.
they put me on 60 mg of cymbalta and 2 mg of risperadal for racing thughts and 1 mg of ativan, later changed to klonopin...they stopped the cymbalta in july because it caused dierehha.........was on klonopin till end of jan. was changed to xanax now im back on klonopin tapering off the xanax.Dr.
On Nov 13 i was taken off risperdal and switched from ativan to xanx.
Literally a nightmare, this is by far the worst drug i have ever taken, seroquel was also a Nightmare! My Doc switched me over to Klonopin and so far it has helped a little, the only problem is that he upped my dose from .5mg of Xanax per day to .5mg twice daily. I don't think I'm going to take the full mg of klonopin, i will take the .5mg like i used to with Xanax. So far it has helped a little. I'm hoping that 2 miles of jogging every other day will help taper off completely.
Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
I have also adjusted my diet by eating more fruits and vegetables and whole grains. I have lost about 5 lbs. in 6 weeks. I feel as if the Seroquel is inhibiting my weight loss. I read that Metformin is now being prescribed to aid in weight loss for people on antidepressants. Has anyone had any success with losing weight while on these antidepressants? Has anyone tried Metformin for weight loss?
I have been on a lot of meds to help me, right now I am on Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Klonopin, Risperdal, and inderal for the shaking hands because the meds effect my job. I feel like the bipolar symptoms are not getting any better. And I feel the OCD is worse to even with all the meds. I know everyone is different as to how they react to the meds. But does anyone know of a good drug that might help the bipolar symptoms.....?
He was diagnosed with bipolar and then also with ADHD he takes risperdal for bipolar and adderall for adhd. The adderall has been wonderful it really helped a lot the risperdal i am not so sure as he still gets very angry and aggressive he has also been recently diagnosed with social anxiety disorder.

I now take seroquel, xanax, geodon, lamictal, klonopin, propranolol)as needed), synthroid, and very low doses of prozac and wellbutrin when Im really really depressed. I am rarely in remission from my bipolar. Im 45 now and still a total mess. When I sought help for depression after getting a dui-I went to a totally unethical and crazy shrink who put me on a ton of psychiatric meds. Prior to seeing that shrink-i never took pills of any kind.
1 -- Some Thoughts Medication Lithium still 1050mg Risperdal down to 2.5mg Celexa still 10mg (down from few weeks ago) Abilify up to 2.5mg Klonopin .25mg as needed Passing feelings of wanting to starve myself. I tried to go as long as I could without eating. Has passing thoughts of suicide and dont know why I can't seem for those to pass. To further my recovery I did nothing.
I am taking 300 mg. Effexor and 20mg. Celexa and 30 mg. Risperdal at night and now the doc has added Klonopin, (I have yet to take the Klonopin bc I am so afraid of becoming addicted). I still wake up in a very depressed mood untl I take my meds in the morning and they kick in. I think the effects just wear off during the night and have considered changing the timing of my meds till later to see if it helps to carry over till the morning. Don't know, just a thought.
It's hard telling but I was put on Geodon and then Risperdal and finally Abilify and I have a history of alcohol abuse and you're not supposed to drink while on any of those and I never did anything like that but those are different medications and I am a different person altogether. I would say if he doesn't normally do this ever while intoxicated something is out of whack there but some people have a tendency to eventually turn violent no matter what while being drunk.
I have been diagnosed with GAD and obsessive thoughts. I take klonopin (which does help about 70% of symptoms) as needed, but try not to take them if I can cuz I don't want to get addicted. yesterday (I had not taken klonopin couple of days) I had sudden attack of numbness on my forehead and my head felt very heavy like my it was too large or heavy for my neck to support. basically I felt like my head was not functioning.
I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.
I have been on 900mg of lithobid, 2-3mg of risperdal, 1000mg of Depakote,20 mg of celexa, 1mg of klonopin, 10 mg of inderal, 150mcg of synthroid, and 600mg of neurontin daily for the past couple of years. I have watched my weight increase by about 60 pounds. What could possibly help me medication wise? I'm not a reeal big exercise person, mainly because of the risperdal and depakote-Iget too tired.
There are many atypicals other than Risperdal and Zyprexa and atypical antipsychotics as a whole are more efficacious and have a safer and more tolerable side effect profile than typical antipsychotics but you could speak to your psychiatrist more about this and ask them why they chose this particular medication.
