risperdal

Avatar n tn I would like to know what would be a good allergy medicine that can be taken with risperdal. I have given my son benadryal in the past and he would become calm but since the risperdal he gets very hyper and stays up all night. My son has seasonal allergies. I have given him claritin and it does not work. Thank you for any advice you can give.
Avatar f tn One of the primary side-effects of progestin-only oral contraceptives is irregular menstrual bleeding. This can be spotting or breakthrough bleeding, shortened cycles, or amenorrhea. Amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation (one or more missed periods). This is a normal occurrence for some women taking birth control pills. It is recommended that you continue to rule out pregnancy on an ongoing basis if you continue to not have your regular period.
Avatar f tn Hello, Missing of periods for so many months can be due to secondary amenorrhea. Pregnancy is an obvious cause of amenorrhea and is the most common reason for secondary amenorrhea. For this get an ultrasound abdomen done which is the most specific test for pregnancy. Further causes are varied and may include conditions that affect the ovaries, uterus, hypothalamus, or pituitary gland.
Avatar f tn It will take a few months to build up to a full dose of Lamictal and if you have angry outbursts that get physical your psychiatrist might want you to take Risperdal and then as the Lamictal builds up to a full dose see if you can do without it so that you have full stability in the meantime as Risperdal unlike Lamictal works right away. Risperdal of course has a good mood stabilization effect. They can coordinate about this as well.
Avatar n tn Well it depends. Risperdal is an antipsychotic and it is effective in treating psychosis. Asperger's is a developmental disability and thus doesn't specifically respond to antipsychotics. What is the Risperdal specifically being used for? Also there is a community specifically for Asperger's.
Avatar n tn I was taking risperdal for 6 month (4MG) and stopped "cold turkey" as the doctor suggested. now for 2 month i am having insomnia. can not sleep more then 3 hours per night. What can i do and how long should it take to get my normal sleep? how long the insomnia last?
Avatar n tn He is 10 and on Concerta 54 mg (for last almost 3 years) and Zoloft 100 mg and Intuniv 2 mg and recently Risperdal 0.25 mg every am and 0.5 mg q pm. The neurologist wanted to add another med Abilify on board as he was still having some outburst behavior. I find this troubling that he wants my child on 5 psychoactive meds. we sought a second opinion from a psychiatrist that our son's therapist recommended.
Avatar m tn She is 39 years old. I have been trying to be hard-nosed and told her that she can't live with me anymore if she keeps on doing drugs. So, she left, and she went completely off the risperdal for about 3 days now. And, as I figured, she is currently in the hospital because of an episode. The people that she decided to "hang with" are enablers so they let her go cold turkey on the risperdal even though I told them that she could get psychotic if she does.
Avatar f tn Smoking is also associated with secondary amenorrhea. Sometimes tumors of the ovaries and brain may also cause absence of menstruation. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn Smoking is also associated with secondary amenorrhea. Sometimes tumors of the ovaries and brain may also cause absence of menstruation. Some of these causes are modifiable like if you are having stress then yoga and meditation and antianxiety medicines can help you out. Eat regular healthy, nutritious food and indulge in moderate exercises. If still the symptoms do not improve, then consultation from a doctor is required to rule out PCOS or thyroid disorder.

Avatar m tn Hi, So I went to see a gynecologist about not getting a period (it's been almost a year now), and alot of things have been happening to my body. I took Otho-tricyclen for about a month and got off and ever since I haven't had a period, my hairs been thinning, and recently I've started binge eating. She wants to put me back onto a BCP to treat the amenorrhea, but I really don't want to. I feel like that's the reason all this has happened in the first place.

Avatar n tn 4 Months after her last dose she got pancreatis and Bells Palsy and now her jaw moves back and forth under stress. Is Bells palsy linked to tardive dyskinesia? I read in the Facial Nerve Book that it is.
Avatar n tn I have seen a doctor about this and have been tested for many things including thyroid disorders, pituitary problems genetic tests and hormone imbalances. I have somewhat low estrogen (29) for my age and somewhat high FSH (18). I do not have any other issues than these either. I don't know if this will definitely lead me to early menopause and other health problems or if not having a period really isn't that big of a deal.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am 26 years old and never had a period Ever in my life only on birthcontrol. I have been to so many doctor's and they all them ne the same thing they dont know whats wrong my LH hormone was 0.2 and my Fsh was 0.4 thats the onlt thing they can find wrong.
Avatar n tn I am not a doctor and not familiar with the link between high blood sugars and amenorrhea. I would recommend seeing a gynecologist or your regular physician for a complete physical to rule out hormonal or other reasons that your period may have stopped. I do know that periods can stop if you have lost a significant amount of weight and/or are exercising more than may be good for your body. Today there is such an emphasis on being thin, particularly for young women.
Avatar f tn I had sex with my boyfriend without penetration.. I doubted about pregnancy and went to ultrasound twice and did many home tests but all came negative. She gave me a drug and said to wait for period in 12 days.. It is 6th day today but have no any of premenstrual syndrome..hope I am not pregnant. Any advice?
2176476 tn?1338605299 I am currently taking Risperdal, Lamictal, Lithium, and Lexapro. I was on Seroquel XR for quite sometime, but switched back to Risperdal because 1) it is a heck of a lot cheaper, and 2) it really worked well for me, even better than Seroquel. I believe in the fact that medications work quite differently for everyone. I personally have not had any issues with my current combination.
Avatar f tn I just saw my IT/Endo today and she said IGF-1 would never be treated or explored for a woman of my age (43) and my LH and FSH would need to be 0 to be deficient. I have had amenorrhea for almost 6 months now and 3 months previous to that my. Some recent blood work: LH is 10.2, FSH is 8, Estradiol (pg/mL) 20, Progesterone (ng/mL) 0.24 Prolactin 4.
Avatar f tn Smoking is also often associated with secondary amenorrhea and can be worse in presence of stress. Severe anemia and malnutrition, excess weight gain or weight loss, hypothyroidism too can contribute. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Treating the cause of amenorrhea will improve your chances of pregnancy in future (if you are not already pregnant). Take care!

Avatar m tn Recently I was asked to help a young man who had been taking Risperdal for a psychotic illness and who noticed that while taking this his penis and testicles seemed to shrink. There is very little information in the literature about this. We know that Risperdal causes dopamine receptor blockade. Dopamine in turn keeps prolactin levels in check. Therefore Risperdal allows for a raise in prolactin levels and this may cause genital shrinkage.
