1) Have you ever heard of lovenox injections to prevent further clots in stents and 2) what are the risks from lovenox to her relatively healthy kidneys (after 30+ yrs of diabetes)? Thank you for your good advice. You were the only Dr. who said E.R.

I've been on Lovenox for the last 12 weeks of my pregnancy (I'm 22 1/2 weeks now)...my baby has been fine. They just watch both of us a little closer. I'm not sure if the doctor told you but, Lovenox is pretty much the only blood thinner you can take that does not pass through your placenta. I guess for me, I had to weigh the risks of not taking the shot vs what "might" happen.

Get one of those bracelets made up with the disorder written on it and in case of an emergency everyone will know to take added precautions. You would have to discuss with your ob wether or not vbac or another c section is indicated. Which ever you have I'm hopeful you will have a good out come. Let your family take good care of you for a while. You will need all your rest with two precious kids to look after.

HI, I can't speak to the overarching issue...that is something for a doc to discuss w/ you certainly. However, I had a very large DVT that stretched from my groin to my knee in my last pregnancy (he's 6.5 now) and am pregnant again. You won't likely be on Coumadin during pregnancy (I'm guessing) but they'll switch you to Heparin or Lovenox (I'm on Lovenox).

I just had a miscarriage on July 30th and I was 23 1/2 weeks pregnant. I was put on Lovenox and a baby aspirin 2 weeks prior to miscarrying. The Doctor seems to think that when we get pregnant again that I can get on Lovenox and baby aspirin when i'm 7 weeks pregnant and that the pregnancy will be a healthy succuessful one. Now, having said that - I am not even sure what the sex of this pregnancy is, (will know in about 3 more weeks or so hopefully) but I have strong feelings that it's a boy.... (don't ask.) I could be worrying for nothing if it's a girl, but I don't want to feel guilty for something that I know was completely beneficial for keeping this pregnancy rather then have someone say to me later on, well - you knew the risks.... I had two spontaneous pregnancies, four insemination and one in vitro fertilization ( 2 embryos) ,all ended with miscarriage as early as 5 weeks (8 weeks at most). Lovenox safety in pregnancy is a question that is best answered by your obstetrician or by a high risk maternal fetal medicine subspecialist. I personally do not believe the low positive cardiolipin titers were related to infertility; the relationship is with recurrent pregnancy loss. I too respect your RE' reasoning for initiating lovenox, but would not have done so myself - a matter of opinion and my interpretation of the research and evidence available.

I've used lovenox with my last pregnancy and with this pregnancy due to a blood clotting disorder. Lovenox is perfectly safe. does not cross the placenta but thins the blood just enough and very evenly to prevent blood clots. there are no side effects except maybe I bruised slightly easier.

Yes, I'm currently taking it..I've been very tired this pregnancy thus far but not sure if its a side effect of the med. I'm 12+5 along and you..if you don't mind me asking why exactly do you have to take it.. congrats!

Hi I just did my first lovenox injection and think I might not be doing it right. I really had to push very hard for the needle to go in then it stopped about a third of the way and I had to jam it in the rest of the way. does this sound right? I have plenty of fat so it's not as if I got held up on muscle or anything.

I have been diagnosed with having several blood clots in both lungs, which started from the back of my left leg. No word on what or how, as I was checked for this condition in October of 2013. Has anybody used the blood thinner lovenox? My doctor put me on it for the whole pregnancy. I just forbid out I was carrying 4 days ago. I'm very nervous because I've had 3 miscarriages before this.

I'm 5 weeks 7days and it's 4 am here. .I'm on lovenox..or and I got up to pee and I have a rash on 2 sides of my belly I'm not sure if it's from Lovenox..or or sun burn or what...well when i wiped there was blood on the toilet paper...am i misscarrying??? He may want to keep you on Lovenox until the end of the pregnancy? In general you will want to stop blood thinners before the due date. Do ask him why he thinks you should have a C-section.

I have been taking it close to 2 months now, without any followup blood work. I am on Lovenox because earlier in my pregnancy they discovered I MIGHT have a Protein-S deficiency. They just say to keep taking the injections. Should I get a "second opinion"?

Hi there, The appt went great (I'll update a separate post in a moment) and I did ask him about c-section risk and he said, "Oh PLEASE don't worry. The risk is so small of emergency c-section and of risks from being on Lovenox. Please on't worry about that." We didn't go into detail about if they can counteract anti-coagulant but it seems to me that there would be since, for example, eating too much Vit K does exactly that.

Both Lovenox and Heparin are used to reduce the risks of a blood clot formation. I had a DVT(deep vein thrombosis) and PE (pulmonary embolism) about three years ago and Dr is concerned I can form another.

I've never been on Lovenox...but am a nurse and give the injections all the time......You may have some spotting only b/c it's a blood thinner...but I'm not sure that it would be unsafe to have some spotting...as long as your cervix is in good shape.....

I also asked him if I can just up the dose of Lovenox instead of taking aspirin. He said the mechanisms of both medicine are different. One does not replace the other. So he prefers me keep taking it if my stomach can take it. I wonder what he will suggest next appointment. The baby aspirin I am taking is coated 81mg. I rarely had stomach problems before this pregnancy. And I always took the aspirin with a meal. I don't know why my stomach is so sensitive to aspirin.
