Hi My mom is taking Hep C treatment with peg interferon 180 and Ribavin 200g,after taking injection,her WBC is getting Reduced ,SO doctor suggest to stop injection for 1 week..Now 2 weeks once vadshe is taking the inection? Is this fine? or is it better to change the medicine Solovadi .

I am 22 yr old and i have hepatitis c genome 3 and i am taking pegasus\once weekly and ribavirin since 19-6-08 my question is have i to do weekly CBC or I can do every 2weeks before the injection ?

I guess this should be easy, I have thought since beginning that I would be taking ribavirin for one week after my 48th interferon injection. And yet when I do the math, each bottle of ribavirin holds 168 tabs, So: 7 days x 4 ribavirin pills = 28 pills 28 pills x 48 weeks = 1344 pills 1344 pills / 168 bottle count = 8.0 bottles It just doesn't seem logical to me to have to get 28 more pills from the rx. Therefore my EOT is really closer than I thought, just a thought.

The interferon takes 7 days to leave the body. Interferon alone and ribavirin alone is not as effective as INF and riba together. That last shot you take is made more worthwhile when you combine it with ribavirin. I'd take the last of your ribavirin and give it that final kick.

Both times I treated the instructions from my doctor were to complete my last ribavirin seven days after the final IFN injection. What should I expect from my first dose as far as side effects. I will take my first ribavirin 600mg on this Friday morning with my second dose and my injection of Peginterferon in the evening. I HAVE to work that day. Will I have side effects from the morning dose?

Did 24 weeks and turned out to be a non-responder. About two years later I tried ribavirin/intron but developed a serious hacking cough that was so bad I couldn't even talk to anyone. Many doctors recommend taking the ribavirin for a week following your last injection. After that you are supposed to stop taking the ribavirin. Has your doctor told you to take ribavirin beyond that point? If so, maybe you can tell us why because this is not standard practice. Emilio -- riba has a very long half life so there is no reason to "taper" it as some do with the Peg.

Hi, I am starting triple therapy tomorrow (boceprevir) and am starting with pegetron. I plan on taking my first injection tomorrow eveining but in my brain fog state can't remember when I start the ribavirin pills. Is it the morning of the day I take the first shot or the morning after. I was on pegasus treatment for 48 weeks in 2011 and relapsed after a month TX was finished. I'm not out of my mind yet but my doctor doesn't work on Fridays and I have no one to ask this.
