1223953 tn?1267031036 Of those you mentioned, jaundice, stomach pain, nausea and loss of appetite are fairly common side-effects of Reyataz. Changes in the liver caused by ARV medication is often over a long-period of time and happens gradually - so short of something I've listed as an unusual side-effect affecting the liver there's no immediate urgency. That said...
Avatar m tn I was off of meds for over four year ...a drug holiday because of the previous meds which made me sick but now I'm on the 3 medications ( reyataz, truvada and norvor). Its been a over three years and so far so good with a healthy diet and exercise and no visible side effects. My cd4's are up and viral load is undetectable. Not sure if it makes a difference at what time of day you take yours meds but I take mine after breakfast.
Avatar n tn I started taking PEP on august 4th. I take truvada norvir and reyataz. I went to get a rapid antibody hiv test today and was negative. Should I still be worried and stressed? I haven't slept much since this happened.
Avatar n tn I recently started the Norvir, Reyataz, Truvada combo. This is my first time taking "the meds" after being hiv + for 20 years. I have been on them for only 11 days. I have weird side effects: headaches, queasy stomach, and fatigue/weakness. I told my doctor, and he said, to "tough it out for another week, and he'll see if he needs to change the combination, or switch meds.

Avatar m tn Well, I know you were on the PPI but have you tried something more simple like Tagamet or Pepcid? I can't take PPI as it GIVES me gastric pains but the others control my heartburn when I've had it chronically. Try it and see. But it does sound like you will need to see your doctor. Upper stomach pain can also be gall bladder related. For heartburn, acid reflux and gall bladder issues, sometimes certain things can reduce them. What we eat and when.
Avatar m tn 4 I have a compromised immune system and am on truvada, norvir, and reyataz. I have been walking and watching my intakes... I do have a sweet tooth sometimes but otherwise I eat pretty healthy. any ideas?

It felt like snot and saliva. Then I threw-up. It was watery and looked like blood. (I'm not sure if it was actually blood) I have reflux but haven't gone to a doctor to get it looked at again in over 3 years (No insurance). I take Zantac 150 when it flares up. I went to bed feeling fine.
Avatar f tn I have muscle spazms along with the in my arms and legs. Chest pain occasionally. Ive had acid reflux and IBS since i was 16. Avatar f tn I thought if I was on one PPI and then changed to another there should be less time for the new PPI to be effective.
Avatar f tn What drug is the PPI 668? Is it a nucleotide like the 7977 and 938? Do you mind me asking what your genotype is? And, have you treated before?
757597 tn?1315801812 The same group of investigators also studied iron absorption in 14 patients fed an iron-loaded meal before and after PPI therapy for one week. PPI therapy was associated with a 51% reduction in area under the serum iron concentration-time curve (AUC 0 to 4 hours); a 55% reduction in maximum increase of serum iron following ingestion of iron-loaded meal; and a 46% reduction in percent recovery of administered iron at peak serum iron concentration.
Avatar f tn I had my gallbladder removed 4 years ago. Have been treated for GERD on and off ever since with PPI, but not for a while. For the last three months I've been burping constantly, upper right quad pain, acid feeling in stomach, bloating, the usual symptoms. My doctor has put me back on PPI and I'm booked in to see a gastroenterologist in six weeks. I also have another symptom that I forgot to tell the doctor about. I feel horrible all over. A bit hard to describe.
822804 tn?1298226302 Fantastic information and worth looking into, as my daughter and I are both hypo and have GERD! I hate using a PPI b/c our bodies need the acid to break down food. I know most doctors won't touch the stuff, even though they prescribe it! I researched d-Limonene. (For those doing the same, be sure to use reputable sites to get your info. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18072821 is a government site was just one I found that wasn't a .
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with H pylori last Monday, been taking the antibiotics and ppi. felt like I was feeling better till I started to have severe constipation. both antibiotics say may cause diarrhea so why am I so constipated.
Avatar n tn My doctor also said that I have Gastritis and prescribed a PPI (Zegrid). My question is what were your symtoms with Gastritis? Because I do not have gas, bloating or belching or acid reflux but he gave it to me because my EDG said mild gastitis and I have been having stabbing pains in my upper abdomen (not burning though). My question I guess is: Are you taking the meds for Pain or for other symtoms like gas, belching, acid reflux.
Avatar n tn I have actually been on some form of reflux med for a bit longer than 5yrs and started with Prilosec OTC, then prescription Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and briefly Prevacid. These days I tend to take whatever I have in my medicine cabinet (Aciphex or Prevacid) twice a day, max dosage, and occasionally a tagamet to help out. I have a hiatial hernia that is going to be fixed soon so I am hoping to get off the meds and that the side effects will eventually go away...I hope.
Avatar f tn After two months of mononucleosis, I got symptoms suggestive of indigestion (after heavy meals, pain moving around my stomach). I noticed increased burping throughout the previous month. I did an abdominal ultrasound - nothing out of the ordinary. After 10 days of stomach pain/gas/bloating/burping despite a GERD-compliant diet, my GP prescribed PPIs (once daily) and enzymes.
Avatar f tn My ankle and foot test was great! Should I wean myself off the Omepazole and what alternative med. could I use? I am 65 yrs old and also notice memory slow down!
