Reyataz and pancreatitis

Common Questions and Answers about Reyataz and pancreatitis

reyataz

1223953 tn?1267031036 Of those you mentioned, jaundice, stomach pain, nausea and loss of appetite are fairly common side-effects of Reyataz. Changes in the liver caused by ARV medication is often over a long-period of time and happens gradually - so short of something I've listed as an unusual side-effect affecting the liver there's no immediate urgency. That said...
Avatar m tn I was off of meds for over four year ...a drug holiday because of the previous meds which made me sick but now I'm on the 3 medications ( reyataz, truvada and norvor). Its been a over three years and so far so good with a healthy diet and exercise and no visible side effects. My cd4's are up and viral load is undetectable. Not sure if it makes a difference at what time of day you take yours meds but I take mine after breakfast.
Avatar n tn I started taking PEP on august 4th. I take truvada norvir and reyataz. I went to get a rapid antibody hiv test today and was negative. Should I still be worried and stressed? I haven't slept much since this happened.
Avatar n tn I recently started the Norvir, Reyataz, Truvada combo. This is my first time taking "the meds" after being hiv + for 20 years. I have been on them for only 11 days. I have weird side effects: headaches, queasy stomach, and fatigue/weakness. I told my doctor, and he said, to "tough it out for another week, and he'll see if he needs to change the combination, or switch meds.
4529703 tn?1355961841 I went into the hospital back in Feb of this year for some kidney infection that the doctors was confounded about how I got and my CD4 was 2something and viral load 500+ AFTER 5 YEARS UNDETECTABLE!. Kidneys got clear & I left.... My luck got worse and my home was broken into......I pretty much stopped taking my meds since Feb/March because I was discouraged really bad......I take Epzicon, Norvir, & Reyataz......Am I now resistant? I still have a lot of meds......
Avatar n tn Trouble was I had a really bad Nicorette habit. Low and behold I have chronic pancreatitis and if I chew the gum--the pancreatic pain skyrockets. I would say "YES" Nicorette either causes, triggers, or aggrevates pancreatitis.
2069183 tn?1331330038 been positive since 1988, maybe even earlier, didnt start on meds till 2007. Norvir, truvada and reyataz are my friends. My cd4 is 700 and viral load is undetectable. very fortunate to have meds at my disposal. I would advise folks who are positice, please take your meds.
Avatar f tn im now being directed to take a gastric emptying study which i already have had done a year ago and those results were normal..my question is...is here a link between pancreatitis and bile reflux? and if so, would it not be indicative of an obstruction (due to the minor dilation) of my pancreatic duct....is there any remedies or speculation around these test results?
Avatar n tn I had hyperparathyroidism and it was my understanding that was separate from my thyroid issue. I'm not sure that is clinically correct though. Hope you get more answers.
Avatar m tn 4 I have a compromised immune system and am on truvada, norvir, and reyataz. I have been walking and watching my intakes... I do have a sweet tooth sometimes but otherwise I eat pretty healthy. any ideas?
Avatar m tn Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver. Im being sent to a pain specialist for the pain, and hoping he can offer relief, because Ive been recieving very little help from my doctor with that. Im 5'5", used to be about 138lbs, and now am 162, with gain of 10lbs a month on a low fat diet, no meat, no bread, soft food. I dont understand except unless wieght gain is from thyroid going wrong, im hypothyroid.

Avatar n tn t really given much say in the matter, as the pancreatitis was a nasty attack and I was strongly advised to get my gallbladder out asap after it. It was a straightforward procedure, with no after effects. I can't really say I felt better, because apart from the pancreatitis incident, I never had any problems beforehand! I do sometimes suffer with the "dumping syndrome" which, whilst unpleasant, doesn't worry me too much as I believe it's normal.
Avatar f tn t seem to care about the Pneumobilia and one Dr seemed to think its normal and I might have it forever, but I am concerned especially about possible infection coming from the small bowel into the Biliary hepatic vessels and also can this air be causing the ongoing Pancreatitis?
Avatar m tn been suffering from pancreatitis and doctors thinking my gallbladder may be messed up....How common is it to have had a normal HIDA scan with no apparent stones?
Avatar m tn or it could be pancreatitis.. if you've been drinking or hitting NSAD's really hard lately..the pain is pretty high with pancreatitis and you'd be doubled over..but not always. A blood test for pancreatitis can be used if you've been drinking a lot.. either way with an ulcer i'd avoid alchohol/tylenol/asprin like the plague. That'll kill your stomach.
Avatar f tn You might have pancreatitis. That could cause all 3 symptoms, and the elevated enzymes. Other causes of your symptoms would not likely do that. Make sure your doctor checks you thoroughly for pancreatitis.
Avatar m tn Well I/we know she has a drinking problem, she has started drinking again. She said she researched and drinking Red Wine does not hurt her Pancreatitis. In my feeble attempts of research I have not found anything that supports her thought process. What scares me is she was in a Coma for about 5 weeks and came real close to death for the first week or so, the doctors didn't think she was going to live.
Avatar f tn I am a 60 year old female who was diagnosed in the late 80s with acute pancreatitis and still have sporadic trouble today in 2014. A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with hcv and was wondering what effects I would have with the two diseases together, for instance if given treatment for my hep-c will it make my pancreas worse or will I even be able to do the hcv treatment at all?
Avatar f tn During a recent trip to Mexico, I came down with 'travelers diarrhea' - fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomitting, dehydration. Upon arriving back in the states, I was readmitted to the hospital due to elevated amylase and lipase. I didn't have the severe pancreatitis pain until later that night and then only one other bout two nights later. A CT scan, ERCP, and internal ultrasound were all normal and I was discharged after 5 days.
Avatar f tn Acute pancreatitis is most commonly caused by gallstones and alcohol. However, other mechanical factors may cause acute pancreatitis due to obstruction of the pancreatic duct and ischemia of the pancreas. We describe the first case of a parastomal hernia causing acute pancreatitis." There is information on the web if you place the question in your search engine.
