395387 tn?1223003151 My husband is showing signs of Hodgkin's, but it has not yet been DX, he had a CT chest 2 weeks ago that was normal, however it did show 2 calcified lymp nodes in the chest. he just started having chest pains off and on and i am afraid that the enlarged lymph nodes(?
10286430 tn?1409048492 Also Essdipity there is a link between MS and and non Hodgkin's lymphoma and Hodgkin's lymphoma and a connection between non Hodgkin's and Hodgkin's lymphoma to pituitary lymphoma. That's why I though maybe MS involving pituitary tumor pituitary tumor. Also have family history of non Hodgkin's. With my father being one of the one's who had it. Now MS in family history I have to find out about. Hear is one of a bunch of articles I have read.
Avatar f tn My mother who has both Hodgkin's Disease and non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma first manifested the Hodgkin's Disease with a swollen lymph gland on the right side of her throat. Then, other symptoms appeared... a severe rash that turned into sores along with an uncontrollable itch all over her body; a persistent fever; drenching night sweats and unexplained weight loss. Mind you, there can be different reasons for a swollen lymph gland. My mom's condition is just one explanation.
183933 tn?1290216962 My daughter tested positive for EBV after she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's and that is usually the lymphoma associated with EBV. I would just suggest to watch for signs of Hodgkin's which is night sweats (drenching), weight loss, fever, itching, cough. Although my daughter just had a cough and it took 8 weeks of going to the doctor before they did a chest x-ray and found a large mass in her chest.
1578576 tn?1297133437 Hello! My father has Vitiligo and has no pigment in his skin or hair (all over his body). I was recently diagnosed with Alopecia areata and was wondering if there is a connection. Also, he said the doctor told him the type of cancer he got (Non-Hodgkin's Lymphona) is more prevelant in people with autoimmune diseases. Is this true?
Avatar f tn Hi. I just want to clarify something: how was the diagnosis of indolent non-hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) made? Was a biopsy of the nodes done? I'm assuming that a biopsy was done, because indolent non-hodgkin's lymphoma cannot be definitively diagnosed by x-ray. If your sister indeed has indolent NHL, the tumor would follow a prolonged course marked by long stretches of time wherein the tumor is seemingly "inactive" and asymptomatic.
Avatar n tn This rather does sound like Niemann-Pick disease, but it is very rare and does not really occur in adults. It usually begins before the child is even born! Sadly, they don't usually make it into teen years. My cousin has this (8 years old) and she is dying. But they may need to do some blood tests to make sure no autoimmunity or cancers are going on. If your spleen does not retreat to normality, I think you should start to be concerned.
Avatar m tn Hi everybody, so, I went to the doctor first about chest pain. This has all been checked out now (blood test & X-ray) and everything is normal. The chest pain is still there, they think it is costochondritis (inflammation of the tissue between the ribs). The weird thing is I also have sore lymph nodes in my throat, but they're not swollen. They hurt at random times, often after I drink alcohol. I've had all this for ~6 months now.
Avatar m tn I had Hodgkin's Disease in 1990 and have been in remission ever since. In late January I had two benign lipomas removed from my back. I was not concerned about this until I started having drenching night sweats a couple weeks before the surgery. After the surgery I found a lump in my neck, that my regular doctor had missed during an examination the day before. I had a surgeon examine it in a post-op visit and he said he could not tell what it was, but not to worry.
Avatar m tn Mediastinal lymph node enlargement, especially anterior mediastinal lymph node enlargement, is the most common x-ray manifestation of Hodgkin's disease. That does not mean that that is your diagnosis – only that it should be considered in the differential diagnosis and, perhaps most important, that Hodgkin's disease is a treatable, curable disease. Whatever the cause of the lymph node enlargement, a tissue diagnosis will be required.
Avatar n tn It's a tough call. A year and a half ago, my then 79 year old mother had undergone 12 infusions of ABVD chemotherapy for the treatment of stage 3 Hodgkin's Disease. She barely survived that ordeal; and, as of today, she's still dealing with severe after-effects... mainly, respiratory issues i.e. asthma, bronchitis and constant chest congestion. She also feels that the chemo weakened her heart. On the upside, the Hodgkin's Disease is in remission.
Avatar m tn Of course, there are plenty of other things that can cause severe itch. Allergies and/ or medications. But, a peculiar rash along with severe itch is, indeed, a rare symptom of Hodgkin's Disease. My mother's Hodgkin's Lymphoma initially manifested that way... along with drenching night sweats, swollen lymph glands, sudden/ unexplained weight loss and constant fatigue. However, the crushing pain that you described doesn't sound like a symptom of Hodgkin's Disease.
Avatar m tn A positive ANA (anti nuclear antibody) can be seen with various autoimmune diseases, as well as infections, cancer, lung diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, hormonal diseases, blood diseases, skin diseases, in elderly people, or people with a family history of rheumatic disease. The centriole/centrosome proteins are found with Raynaud's phenomenon, scleroderma, Sjögren's syndrome, limited scleroderma (CREST), and viral infection.
Avatar n tn Hi, Lymph nodes can become swollen from infection, inflammatory conditions, an abscess, or cancer. Other causes of enlarged lymph nodes are rare. But the most common cause of swollen lymph nodes is infection. Immune or autoimmune disorders that can cause swollen lymph nodes include rheumatoid arthritis and HIV. Cancers that can cause swollen glands include leukemia, Hodgkin's disease, or non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Avatar f tn I had lymphadenopathy in the abdomen with the SUV in the 8's which proved to be follicular Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. There is no way to tell for sure until a biopsy is done.
Avatar n tn I began having diffuse myalgias last year. Being that I have had two bouts with Hodgkin's lymphoma, I went to the doctor. The Hodgkin's was back in my mediastinum although in stage I. The assumption was that the cancer was producing cytokines causing my myalgia. The myalgia went away when I started chemotherapy. About a month after finishing chemo and verifying that the cancer was gone, the myalgias returned. My doctor's were stumped.
1347273 tn?1317627138 Hi, I've just looked again through your past posts. It's possible the high CRP is due to the infection or Hodgkin's lymphoma, or to both - though the suddenness of the rise probably points to the infection. But Hodgkin's Lymphoma can also cause the high eosinophils, which in turn could cause the problem with the wound healing (since eosinophils make the blood-chemical plasmin which counteracts normal clotting).
395182 tn?1204909299 Hi, What are the symptoms in your case and what group of lymph nodes are involved? The basic difference between hodgkin's and non-hodgkin's is the type of cell involved which distinguishes one from the other. The specific treatment is variable for both. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are the main modalities of treatment depending on the biopsy reports and the final diagnosis and stage. Do not panic now and keep your spirits high.
Avatar f tn So I've been experiencing quite a few problems for awhile now, and doctors mostly seem to dismiss it without much thought. I'm constantly sick with viruses and infections, I have constant fatigue and just an overall continual feeling of being off, as well as feeling clammy and feverish at night. About a month ago, I noticed a lymph node in my neck was enlarged (not big enough to be seen, but can be felt under the skin.
Avatar n tn Pain in lymph nodes after drinking alcohol is a possible sign of Hodgkin's Disease. A blood test reveals VERY LITTLE. The only way to diagnose Hodgkin's Disease is by biopsy of an affected lymph node. They may initially do a fine-needle biopsy before an excisional (surgical) biopsy.
Avatar m tn Hi! If there is increased infection and the body cannot fight it, the WBC start going down as the pathogen start engulfing them. However, if there is no fever, it is not due to infection. Chemotherapy, and radiation therapy are the other causes. Other common causes of low WBC are flu, lupus, Hodgkin's lymphoma, some types of cancer, typhoid, malaria, tuberculosis, dengue, enlarged spleen or hyper-spleenism, and folate deficiency.
