Well, my 50-something Mom swears by Retin-A. She was a sun-worshipper for many years and because of her sensitive fair skin, she has sun damage. She's been using prescription strength Retin-A for several years on her face and there is a very noticeable difference in the condition of her skin on her face vs. her neck or decolletage where it isn't applied. I have complimented her facial skin on a few occasions and she always says it's because of Retin-A.

I am very worried that I may have accidentally harmed my baby without realizing it. I have used retin A for years for acne and wrinkles all over my face, and on my back and chest. I have used .1%. I found out at about 3 weeks pregnant that it can cause birth defects. I have stopped using it of course, but I am so scared. Studies on the internet say many different things. I welcome any thoughts for my situation.

It made my skin around the eyes so dry that my wrinkles show up evey more so than before. Also, the skin around my eyes is so sensitive now that even applying moisturizer makes it burn. My face became dryer with slight flakiness which I believe is a result of using this retinol product.
Is the skin under my eyes permanently damaged or is there a product I can use to reverse this?
Do you think I should see a dermatologist?

As of this past spring people have been telling me I have blue eyes but for the longest time my eyes have been a pretty chocolate brown. When I went to visit my dad's family i learned my grandmother had it and they knew I was their family, but they too all have the blue ring. My cholesterol is under control according to my Dr. CAN THIS BE SOMETHING ELSE?
My esthetician said this was caused by the dehydration. So I went to a different dermatologist whose solution was to stop using retin A for a while and use Oil of Olay on my skin. I was quite upset that I waited 2 1/2 months to be given the same advice my mother would have given me. My esthetician told me it would take 12-18 weeks to rebuild the lipids I'd destroyed and that my skin would look worse before looking better.
Over one year my skin has become a bag of wrinkles - my facem my arms my legs - basically all over. THis is very depressing as I seem to be withering much faster than all my contemporaries. t understand what I was talking about, or they asked if I wanted a prescription for retin A. I have a feeling like it may be sun damage from when I was younger, however when you are young aren't most kids out in the sun all day? Why don't they have the same problem as me then? And if it was sun damage, it is kind of extreme for a 19 year old to get the visible effects, as sun damage is more cumulative and tends to show up when you are in your 30's.
I am a breast cancer patient and this symptom arose approx. 6 mos after my last chemo and 6 mos into Tamoxifen. I have been on Tamoxifen now for about a year and a half. I am also p450 2D6 deficient. (intermediate metabolizer)

Hi, I have used salicylic acid face wash heavily along with Benzoyl Peroxide, my skin type is really sensitive. My under eyes have gonna really red and burt and left me with deep wrinkles when smiling, one of the eyes have completely recovered as it didn't have much deep wrinkles, although the other eye looks really wrinkly and the wrinkles look deep, I am only 21 and my skin was like baby's skin, didn't have any wrinkles before the bp use.
I was acne free for 10 years, but then it came back and I developed tiny bumps under my eyes that my dermatologist said were syringoma (after a year of treating it as acne with retin-a and antibiotics). As usual, the antibiotics and retin-a did not do anything to treat my acne problems, so I have begun a new course of Accutane. Immediately after staring the Accutane, I noticed the tiny bumps under my eyes were lessening. After a month they were completely gone.
I am 24 years old and around 6 years ago, I have experienced an eye lid retraction of both eyes but especially my right eye. My upper eye lid of the right eye had retracted all of a sudden however after a few days it came back to normal or nearly. My lower eye lid however is still slightly retracted and my lower right eyelid is a bit more retracted than my left one.
