Restasis vials

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis vials

restasis

Avatar m tn If you eyes are that dry and you are on steroids then its likely you need to go on restasis or Xiidra. The latter is very expensive. If restasis is used in vials, not multidrop bottle, it is not that expensive. I have said many times on this forum both my wife and I have very bad dry eyes and we both are on restasis her for about 6-7 years and me for 3 years with excellent results. Restasis is twice/day for the rest of your life and it takes 4-6 months to fully become effective.
Avatar f tn My wife and I are both on restasis. Surely you don't mean you're paying $420/month for restasis. That surely is for all your medications. You can buy restasis for cash, no insurance for much less than than and also there is a discount coupon available from the manufacturer. You can also buy on internet from pharmacies e.g. Canada. MOREOVER if you use one vial up completely it will last 2 days. If you used as directed you would use 4 vials. This cuts your cost by 75%.
Avatar f tn Both my wife and I are on Restasis for chronic dry, red, irritable eyes for several years with excellent results. If you do go on restasis get the individual vials not the multi-dose bottle as the individual vials are much less expensive.
Avatar f tn Ask your ophthalmologist if you have GPC (giant papillary conjunctivities) which is an allergy to contact lens wear that causes bumps under the eyelid. If so ask him/her about opticrom for treatment of GPC. Google and read about. More likely you have dry eyes. Probably why your contacts started bothering you and lasik can make dry eyes worse. Go to my website and scroll through the blog posts and read the updated article on dry eyes.
Avatar f tn I used Restasis (which is prescription) because the over the counter Systane was not working all by itself. I used the Restasis when I got up in the am and before bed. In between I used Systane. This worked well and I had no trouble with my eyes during treatment (before starting on Restasis it felt like I had sand in my eyes all of the time.
Avatar n tn I have noticed the burning sensation you have discussed. What is the success rate for Restasis for people who have tried it and stuck to the Restasis program.
Avatar f tn We put our opened vials in the fridge in a measuring cup. Some people after being on the drops for several years can get by with once/day however don't recommend it as my wife tried it and break through symptoms then it took 3 months of misery going back to twice/day for the restasis to kick back in.
Avatar n tn I have dry eyes and so far Doctor's can't help me. I have been on restasis and it is not helping. Will I go blind...
Avatar m tn they come in unit dose vials. Systane, Optive, Thera Tears are some that are available in unit dose vials. You open a vial and use it as many times as needed during the day, and then discard the vial at night. This way you eliminate preservative exposure on the eye surface. I would also recommend a good multivitamin and Omega 3 (fish oil) supplementation.
Avatar m tn Some of the newest are Systane preserved and unpreserved drops and Optive drops. Eye drops for dryness are classified as preserved drops (individual vials that must be used within 24 hrs), preserved drops, gels and ointments. The preserved drops are more expensive and usually only help the small percentage of people that are really allergic to preservatives. Gels and ointments are normally used at night since regular tears won’t last all night.

429949 tn?1224691579 My opthalmologist put me on Restasis about three weeks ago, but I didn't start it until today. I wanted to do some checking into the possible side effects first! The one side effect that concerned me was blured vision. I have had enough blured vision to last me a life time. I had it straight for almost a year, and now it is almost gone, don't want no more.
Avatar n tn This is some information about the conditon. Best RX is usually Restasis and 2 or 3 omega three enteric coated fish-oil. It will probably take 4 months to see an improvement. General Information on Dry Eyes-Now known as Tears Dysfunction Syndrome. a Schirmer test of zero indicates that you have severe dry eyes. I'm assuming from your posting that you have tried both preserved and unpreserved artifical tears, gels or lubricating ointments at bedtime, environmental modification, etc.
Avatar m tn A careful history, artificial tears, tear duct pugs, omega 3 use, environmental modification, and if needed Restasis (the new Xiidra is wildly expensive) can handle 99% of the patients. Below is a previous post on dry eyes: General Information on Dry Eyes-Now known as Tears Dysfunction Syndrome or Ocular Surface Disorder. a Schirmer test of zero indicates that you have severe dry eyes.

Avatar f tn I just got back from my optomologist & he prescribed for me Restasis. He mentioned that once you're on Restasis, it's an on going thing it's not really temporary. Is that the case, do I have to stay on it. I was hoping that once my eye is feeling better, I could just use artificial tears to keep my eyes from drying so badly. He also changed my contact lenses to Acuvue Oasys. Any advice or info would be great.............................
Avatar n tn My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
Avatar f tn I'm on restasis, my wife is on restasis, I use restasis in my practice. the medicine does not cause floaters. Floaters can occur at any time. If they start and you are doing something else like mowing the yard, reading a book or starting restasis the relationship is COINCIDENTAL. On the other hand if you are hit in the eye with a fist and note floaters the relationship is CAUSATIVE.
Avatar m tn Rare anyone to be too sensitive to restasis. My wife and I have been on restasis for many years with fabulous results. restasis works with both forms of dry eyes. Many people have stinging with restasis for several weeks which can be helped by using steroid drops for a couple of weeks. there is a new medication that works like restasis called Xidra it is supposed to kick in faster (3-4 months) than restasis (4-6 months) but has not been shown to be better than restasis and is more costly.

Avatar n tn My wife and I have really bad dry eyes and we have been on restasis for over 5 years with great results. If you use the preservative free VIALS and use up each it is much less expensive than the multidop bottle and much less expensive than the other drop Xiidra. I would simply stop worring about the central flashing in the right eye. You have had multiple ophthalmologist exam your eye and macular OCT that were normal.
Avatar m tn one vial for the day, then throw it away. You may also need to consider Restasis, which is a prescription drop to treat the inflammation, and thus allow your eyes to produce more of their own tears. Take an oral multivitamin and fish oil (Omega 3) supplements, if OK with your primary doctor. Meibomian gland dysfunction, which can lead to lipid (oil) deficiency, is treated with warm compresses and lid hygiene, plus topical and oral antibiotics in some cases.
Avatar f tn Refresh PM gel, Systane Ultra lubricating drops and Restasis. Optimologist prescribed Restasis 6 weeks ago. Still not sure why eyes are red all of the time. Suggested allergy testing, which I have scheduled now. Optomologist says that he still isn't sure what is going on and wants to put plugs in my eyes. My eyes now feel better than they have for quite awhile but still red like no sleep (I get 8 hrs daily) I have 3 questions; 1. can plugs be used with Restasis?
Avatar n tn I prescribe Restasis and I use Restasis. I am not familiar with a blue vial holder. I Googled the term and nothing comes up so I don't know anything about it.
Avatar m tn I have a moderate to serious dry eye. I am going to start my Restasis today and I know that I will not see the result till 2 months or more from now. I am also planning for a cataract surgery in 1 to 2 months. I also foresee that I will use some steroid or antibotics for a few weeks after the surgery. Do I need to stop Restasis once I start the steroid ?
Avatar m tn Can I put temporary plug and try Restasis at the same time as Restasis takes quite a long time to kick in.
