restasis

415867 tn?1323365503 My eye dr. wanted me to do restasis eye drops prior to me having lasik eye surgery done. She gave me trial ones until I got the rx filled so I've been using them for 10 days now, twice a day. I finally took the rx in to get filled and before I signed and paid there was a "don't take if pregnant or trying to becoming pregnant" I was like...."Woo~" So I talked to the pharmacist and she said that my eye dr.
Avatar m tn Are there any Prescription medications you can take ORALLY which are effective for dry eyes and that can be taken in maintenance doses, long term for the condition? And any side effects generally with them?
Avatar m tn 8 to 10 years ago had LASIK...slowly vision has diminished, but can still drive without glasses - but prefer to wear them. 3 months ago, developed conjunctivitis. Treated...right eye remained red most of the time..saw eye doctor...who saw no problem. Using eye drops for dry eyes. Over the past 2 weeks, eyes so dry, they wake me up, burning, very blurry vision...put in drops once or twice per night and throughout the day. Last week, noted vision much more diminished bilaterally.
Avatar f tn Ask your ophthalmologist if you have GPC (giant papillary conjunctivities) which is an allergy to contact lens wear that causes bumps under the eyelid. If so ask him/her about opticrom for treatment of GPC. Google and read about. More likely you have dry eyes. Probably why your contacts started bothering you and lasik can make dry eyes worse. Go to my website and scroll through the blog posts and read the updated article on dry eyes.
Avatar m tn Your optician is treating you for symptoms of dry eye. Restasis is a commonly prescribed drug that aids in tear production, and Optive is an over-the-counter (at least here in the U.S. it is) artificial tear / eye lubricant. If these aren't helping, then you may want to get a second opinion from an ophthomologist (eye MD).
630166 tn?1222287376 I had Lasik sugery about 4 years ago and had dry eye for a couple of years, but then that improved with the help of using Restasis. About a week ago I woke up with redness and mat in my left eye. My first thought was I had the pink eye. I went to my doctor and he gave me Tobramycin Ophthalmic Solution. That didn't help, so then he gave me Sulfacetamide Sodium Ophthalmic Solution.
Avatar f tn My eye doctor just Rx'd Lotemax (4 weeks) & Restasis (for life) for my extremely dry eyes. They feel like sand is in them. I am concerned because from what I can understand Restasis works through the auto immune system. I am in week 38 of standard treatment and since week 16 of treatment have had a hypothyroid. Any advice? I also was told this morning to increase Procrit from 20,000 to 40,000 a week because Hgb was only 8.5 on this weeks lab.
Avatar m tn IT is very very rare for someone to have their vision after lasik worse than before. If you are not better next visit then consider asking for the second opinion.
Avatar n tn Right now I wear Acuvue Oaysis, which is supposed to be the best lenses for dry eyes. My ophthalmologist told me that my eyes are so dry that they are sucking all of the water out of my lenses, causing them to become completely dry and painful. I've tried everything - rewetting drops, different solutions, not wearing them for a few weeks at a time, but it doesn't matter... every time I put them in my eyes, I have to take them out again.
Avatar n tn After taking restasis for over a year and my dry eyes was not getting better the Dr. gave me lotemax but said only use that. Now after using it for 2 months only, he said I shouldn't have stopped the restasis. Now I am really annoyed.....have I lost what improvement I may have gained with the restasis having stopped it for two months? Should I be seeing a opthomologist rather than a Dr. of Optometry???
Avatar m tn When I went to my eye doctor today, she said my eye was still dry and to keep on using Restasis for another month. I have been on Restasis a month now. If my vision doesn't improve, she is going to do lasik on the posterior capsular membrane. At that time my cataract surgery will be around 90 days old. Is it unusual to have that type of lasik so soon after the cataract sugery and will this improve my vision? My vision is much clearer in my right eye with my contact lens.
Avatar f tn Can you have LASIK performed if you have SLK and dry eyes? I am currently on Restasis to help with dry eyes, along with OTC drops as needed. I have been unable to wear my contacts for almost 2 years now due to irritation from EKC prior to my SLK diagnosis. I am aware that my eyes must be "quiet" for at least a year before I can even think about LASIK, but will my dry eyes prevent me from getting the LASIK performed?
Avatar m tn t happen overnight, to the same area, to a mass amount of people, post lasik for no reason. The fact is that I totally trust my doctor and feel that he did the surgery perfectly. It is just the unfortunate truth that surgery such as lasik effects everyone differently. For me, it caused some of the symptoms discussed in the initial consultation - which INCLUDED swelling, dry eye, pain, etc.
Avatar f tn Before doing anything that is permanent, have you considered using Restasis for your dry eyes? I had no luck at first with Restasis, but it turned out I had not used it long eneough. Now, after using it for 2 months, I am noticing a dramatic improvement. I now do not need any eye drops or eye ointments. My bottom ducts are plugged.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your answer--my eye doctor said the same thing that there is really nothing that can make it go away except for surgery but that can remove it for a short time like you stated above and can come back. Is there any chance that it may go away over time by applying warm compresses or ice? I read on the web that some people have used warm and/or cold compresses and it helped lessen the vessel but since it may already be prominent I don't know that it would even help.
Avatar f tn I am on my 3rd dr and just got diagnosed with Thygesons.. I am on my 3rd flare up and basically was told I cannot wear contacts. I have glasses, but I've been wearing them for 6 months every single day and I would like to resume my normal life without them. It does not seem I will ever be able to wear them because after I treat my eye issue with steroids, it gets better after weeks and weeks, but then comes back once I resume contacts.
Avatar f tn this is helping my headaches allitle bit, i will use restasis for 3 months and refresh p.m.(only at night) for 1 month! the doctor said if this treatment does not work he will put plugs on the corners of my eyes! ill let you know how it is! now listen to this DRY EYES gives you all these symptoms so ask your doctor if these dry eye medications are good for you! i hope i helped! write back let me know how you are doing and i will write to!
Avatar m tn I'm 35-year-old male in otherwise good health (I did have Lasik 10 years ago with no problems other than some dryness). 9 weeks ago after the birth of my second daughter, I started having some discomfort from dryness in my eyes, and then one day after a panic attack (my wife had complications post delivery and we had to rush her to ER), my vision went blurred and it has not returned to normal since then.
Avatar n tn I had lasik back in 02 & never had a problem--had white eyes & never dry. Just used OTC generic artificial tears here & there. Then in 5/08, I develop. red eyes & had a prominent vessel in my left eye. Eye dr. said it was strain from studying for my MBA and should go away on its own. He took eye tests and put me on restasis. The redness went away but the prominent vessel stayed. It's still there to this day & the eye dr.
Avatar m tn I am confused, b/c just until the recent years(when I had to have reading glasses) I have never worn glasses. When I had cataract surgery, I opted for Restore lens with the hope of not needing any glasses. Surgery was done in the fall and now 5 months later one eye is giving me extreme light sensitivity and watering. Tfhe dr. put me on Restasis and drops. Tried temporary plugs and when they melted my condition got worse. Now one dr.
Avatar n tn The medication often stings when therapy is begun--it usually gets better by week three or your Ophthalmologist (EyeMD) can prescribe a mild steroid drop for a couple of weeks. If you did not take for 8 weeks you need to restart therapy. Improvement often continues for up to 6 months. If you have tried tear duct plugs you should have had all for tear duct openings (puncta) plugged with a permanent plus (not a disolving one). Usually just the lower lids are done with mild dry eyes.
Avatar n tn I am 26 years old and have been having pain behind my left eye off and on for several years. It comes and goes, and can be sometimes up to six months symptom free. I have very dry eyes, am a contact leans wearer, but the dryness has been so bad in the past year that I reserve contacts for special occasions and only wear them for a few hours max, otherwise I wear my glasses. The pain almost feels like something is strained behind the eye.
20830596 tn?1554933789 the contacts in the evenings / weekends for a week or two? Or was wearing them for 6 hours with no improvement enough of a test? Thank you for any input!
Avatar f tn After getting some great advice from your doctors, I have decided to go ahead and have the PRK done. I have one of the worse cases my dr. has seen of dry eyes. I hope I'm doing the right thing by going thru with the PRK. I have read a lot about Lasik but there's very little for me to read on PRK. Can you suggest anything for me as far as informative reading material, e.g. what I can expect, the pros of PRK for dry eyes, what the next few days after surgery will be like? Thank you.
Avatar m tn Your problem is likely exacerbated by wearing the contacts. Lasik will likely be a good option. A new drop Azasite is often helpful for blepharitis and rosecea around the eye. Most patients with 'rosaccea do not need oral tetracyclines maybe 20% do. Again I would go to a larger island and see a cornea specialist.
