Restasis for dry eyes

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis for dry eyes

restasis

Avatar f tn ), is reluctant to fit me for a contact lens due to the dry eyes. Do you think that the restasis would help the dry eye so that I may better tolerate a contact lens? If so, I will bring up this possibility at my next appointment. As always thank you!!!
Avatar f tn Dr Hagan, is the Restasis contact friendly? if not, i may have to give up the contacts and start using my glasses on a full time basis. Being I am in the Cleveland area I have the best Dr''s too choose from. My eyes are severly dry & Restasis seems to be the best treatment option for me. Also I will starrt taking the Omega -3 suppl. as you suggested. thankx again for your comments take care j.
Avatar f tn A long with my fish oil pills. What are other supplements I can use to improve my dry eyes? I want to avoid prescribed restasis at all cost :) please some advice?
Avatar f tn ve recently posted that I just recently started Restasis, but my question is will the red eyes start getting better as the Restasis starts to work. Does dry eyes cause them to be red.......... I mean they are not horribly red, but are somewhat irritated. Will my eyes be like this always or will they get better eventually. My eye Dr. said they're not too bad, but I know that this is not they way they were before.
Avatar f tn sort_by=date Both my wife and I have moderately severe dry eyes. Both of us are on restasis with complete success. She for 6-7 years and me for one and a half year. IT WILL TAKE 6 MONTHS BEFORE YOU SEE THE FULL BENEFITS OF RESTASIS SO DON'T STOP THEM. Restasis eye drops does not cause cancer if it did neither my wife or I would be taking them. I personally would not have plugs put in. they fall out, they can scratch the eye. If you're not on Omega 3 I would start them.
Avatar f tn i had cataract sursery 9 months ago, have been noticing poorer vision, was diagnosed with 'dry eyes'. Have been using Restasis for two weeks now, eyes seem irritated, are red, I need to blink a lot. Is this normal? Will this go away if I have to use this product for the rest of my life? How is this helping me?
Avatar m tn There is also an over the counter spray for dry eyes called “Tears Again”. Tears may need to be used as often as 6 times/day. If you took Restasis you have used the best prescription medication. A "trial" of Restasis is a minimum of 8 weeks of therapy using one drop in each eye twice/day. Because of the way Restasis works, it takes two months to "start working". I have found that many patients use it for a few weeks then conclude it won't help.
Avatar f tn org/user_journals/show/1648149/General-information-on-dry-eyes-tears-dysfunction-syndrome Both my wife and I have very dry eyes and both of us have been on Restasis (cyclosporin) for years with excellent results. I understand from postings from the UK this is difficult to get there.
Avatar f tn Dry eyes can be a life-long problem especially for menopausal or post menopausal females. Go to Dr. Hagan's Blog and read the section on it; read the "General information on Dry eyes" in "Today's Pulse" also use the archives and search feature.
Avatar m tn My wife and I have been on restasis for many years with fabulous results. restasis works with both forms of dry eyes. Many people have stinging with restasis for several weeks which can be helped by using steroid drops for a couple of weeks. there is a new medication that works like restasis called Xidra it is supposed to kick in faster (3-4 months) than restasis (4-6 months) but has not been shown to be better than restasis and is more costly. Read the section on dry eyes on my blog page.
Avatar f tn Hi. Last week I started Restasis for dry eyes. I tried temporary collagen plugs but they did not help.. My dry eyes just seemed to come out of the blue last month. (I've had minor dry eye problems for many years). Now, it's all I think about. My main problem is a windy feeling to my eyes, even in my own home. I am actually dealing with that right now. My eyes actually feel better when they have a dry feeling, if that makes sense.
Avatar n tn My ophthalmologist recently prescribed restasis for dry eyes. I read that cyclosporin can causes cancer. Is this true? Are these drops safe?
Avatar n tn If you are menopausal or post-menopausal be sure you and your gynecologist maintain optimal hormonal balance. (Many women with dry eyes have dry mouth and dry vaginal canal). If you have joint pain have that evaluated to be sure you don't have Sjorgren's syndrome. Many medications eg antihistamines can make dry eye worse. You might review your medications with your ophthalmologist.
Avatar n tn t it better to switch to glasses, if you suffer from extreme dry eyes? And generally dry eyes is a symptom of something.
Avatar f tn Yes that is a common symptom. Use the search feature and archives and read the many helpful posts about dry eyes. Go to Dr. Hagan's home page and read the Journal Posting on treatment of dry eyes. As I have said many time both my wife and I have dry eyes and have been on Restasis for several years with excellent results. WIth MGD it's important to keep the eye lids free of oil and debris (*called scruff). Try Ocusoft Plus PLATINUM it's over the counter.
Avatar n tn Both my wife and I have been on Restasis for years for marked dry eyes. with great results.
184420 tn?1326739808 Restasis takes about 3 months of use before it actually works, thats where the Lotemax kicks in-it is a steroid that helps the Restasis get to work faster. No more problems for me.Chronic Dry Eyes will do this to you.I was miserable with mine.
Avatar n tn Right now I wear Acuvue Oaysis, which is supposed to be the best lenses for dry eyes. My ophthalmologist told me that my eyes are so dry that they are sucking all of the water out of my lenses, causing them to become completely dry and painful. I've tried everything - rewetting drops, different solutions, not wearing them for a few weeks at a time, but it doesn't matter... every time I put them in my eyes, I have to take them out again.
Avatar m tn I have said many times on this forum both my wife and I have very bad dry eyes and we both are on restasis her for about 6-7 years and me for 3 years with excellent results. Restasis is twice/day for the rest of your life and it takes 4-6 months to fully become effective. Read about it on their website and see an Eye MD that specializes in cornea diseases and discuss.
Avatar n tn ) as well as dry eyes (no more dry mouth, but eyes still fairly dry in the AM) You need to look for underlying issues, and perhaps look into natural healing approaches..it could be an unbalance in your body, not neccessarely autoimmune like suggested. It is a possibility however...
Avatar f tn I never went to see an ophthamologist but just saw my optometrist, who only used the dye drops in my eyes and did no other tests. She did find dry spots on my eyes. I have been on Restasis for 2 weeks.. WILL the Restasis help with the sensitivity to the lighting and computers? I have heard of Melanin tint glasses. Do those help or will the Restasis "eventually" take care of this? Thank you.
