restasis

429949 tn?1224691579 My opthalmologist has just put me on Restasis eye drops. Does anyone have any experience with these drops or have had any bad side effects from using them? I know what the information on the prescribing list says, but I trust someone who has actually taken them more than what that insert inside the box says! Any info would help!
Avatar f tn Should I try plugs 1st and if not successful, then go back to Restasis? 3. In reading about Restasis, are there future bad side effects in continued use such as cancer? I am starting to question if I should get another opinion. Thank you for any suggestions that you may have.
1819252 tn?1317092002 I have both Restasis and Systane. Systane is over the counter and you can get it in any pharmacy. Restasis is prescription and it would be prescribed only if you had your eyes examined by an eye doctor and your eyes were inflamed.
Avatar f tn The ER doctor diagnosed me with Herpes Keratitis yesterday. I had been taking Restasis(Cyclosporin eye drops BID) and had many of the symptoms of side effects of that drug including low neutraphils, redness and swelling of eyelids, itching, feeling of foreign object in my eye, pain on administration of drops. I believe this is a drug reaction not Herpes Keratitis. What do you think?
Avatar f tn Can I use restasis eye drops on my dog? The vet I use to have made his own eye drops for her and made her eye worse and I live in a small rural community and he's the only vet in the area so don't really want to trust him again.
Avatar n tn Because the problem is so prevalent the pharmaceutical compies are coming out with new products all the time. Some of the newest are Systane preserved and unpreserved drops and Optive drops. Eye drops for dryness are classified as preserved drops (individual vials that must be used within 24 hrs), preserved drops, gels and ointments. The preserved drops are more expensive and usually only help the small percentage of people that are really allergic to preservatives.
Avatar f tn 05%, I was wondering if it is okay to put the eye drops in my eye, and then after like 10 minutes or more use a warm eye compress, I am very stressed due to my bloodshot eyes from dry eye, and I find that the warm compress helps me to fall asleep but do not want to "wash" away or eliminate the effects of the eye drops with the moisture from the warm compress. any thoughts will be appreciated !
Avatar m tn My Eye Doctor suggested I keep Restasis in the fridge to make more comfortable and reduce the burning and to keep using ir for 2 days. Does Restasis lose its effectiveness when placed in the fridge. Also when are results typically seen? I have a TBUT of 5 and hoping to see an increase if ues consistently.
415867 tn?1323365503 My eye dr. wanted me to do restasis eye drops prior to me having lasik eye surgery done. She gave me trial ones until I got the rx filled so I've been using them for 10 days now, twice a day. I finally took the rx in to get filled and before I signed and paid there was a "don't take if pregnant or trying to becoming pregnant" I was like...."Woo~" So I talked to the pharmacist and she said that my eye dr.
917763 tn?1311628896 Absolutely the dry eye and dry sinus side effects are NO FUN. I used OTC eye drops during the day and Refresh PM ointment at bedtime. Sometimes I'd even have to get up in the middle of the night to put in more Refresh PM ointment to get me through to the morning. As far as my sinuses I used the saline nasal spray daily and it seemed to help a lot. Just plain saline, nothing medicated.
Avatar m tn After extensive testing (hormonal and auto-immune) came back normal, my doctors can not figure out how a 20 year old can have such sudden severe dry eye. I am on restasis, have punctal plugs, tried steroid drops, warm compresses, lid massages, and I have not gotten relief. They said my tear break up time is low, but I don't have much meibomitis, my schmimer fluctuates every time (from 4 to 20) so the doctors say is not a really reliable measure.
Avatar m tn I have chronic eye inflammation due to sjs/ten and have been using a steroid drop and ivig drops to control the inflammation. If I add other types of eye drops that help with inflammation to my regiment will that further reduce the level of inflammation? Or is there a limit to how much the inflammation can be reduced?
Avatar m tn Well regardless of the cause if the eye is dry and tears only help for a short time and you're going broke buying eye drops then plugs or restasis should be considered. Restasis helps both types of dry eyes (now called tears dysfunction syndrome) 1. where the eye is dry as a bone and 2 where the eye waters all the time.
Avatar m tn We have been on Restasis with spectacular results for over 8 years. There are two other drops like Restasis, xiidra which patients do not like and is very expensive and Cequa which is same medicine as restasis but stronger concentration. Ask you ophthalmologist about Restasis (cyclosporin) think it just became available as generic.
Avatar m tn I had dry eye problems and most eye doctors automatically show me artificial drops. Some even say I can use as many time as I need. Once a while, I put one drop every hour but it didn't help that much as I feel dry again almost 15 minutes after putting the drop. Even worse is I feel once the artificial drop drys, the vision is more blur. I read one article saying that dry eye can be caused by low tear production or the quality of the tear is not good and not sticking to the cornea.
Avatar n tn m accustomed to my vision since my dominant eye has compensated quite a bit but am only 27 years old and am having difficulties coping with the cosmetic side effects and want to know if this scleral redness is permanent. I had a vitreous hemorrhage and a hyphema so was prepared for a the blood vessels to take a long time to heal but not to this extent. I have talked to my opthamologist and retinal specialist about it and they do not seem too concerned and am getting frustrated.
Avatar m tn Ask your surgeon but restasis is not stoppeed by our surgeons. Steroid drops are not a problem, in fact I often put the patient on steroid drops when they start restasis to reduce stinging/burning. Use the steroids about 2-3 weeks. Good luck. Be patient. Restasis is a wonderful medication. My wife has been on it about 3 years with wonderful results.
Avatar m tn 1. You should not wear contacts. 2. Read the article on this page I wrote General Information on Dry eyes. 3. Restasis is the answer for 90% of the moderate to severe cases. 4. Remember there are two sides to "dry eyes" like two sides to a coin. One side eye dry as bone other side eye runs water all the time.
184420 tn?1326739808 Have you been 2 an eye Dr?I had the same problem and the eye dr gave me restasis and Lotemax. Restasis takes about 3 months of use before it actually works, thats where the Lotemax kicks in-it is a steroid that helps the Restasis get to work faster. No more problems for me.Chronic Dry Eyes will do this to you.I was miserable with mine.
Avatar n tn Restasis for dry eye, i'm 45 hypothyroid goitors i got severe post nasal drip with eye drops , ended up with laryngitis sat sun went to ER she said viral syndrome stop eye drops, i'm very intolerant to all antibiotics soo is this rare or possible, post nasal coughing when try to talk?
Avatar f tn Suggest you see oculoplastic surgeon who has experience in botox for blepharospasm. In the end it may be a combination of all 3 problems. Finally, look for dry eye side effects from medications as a potential culprit. Restasis can be a Godsend if used in the right cases for a year or so.
Avatar n tn Some of the newest are Systane preserved and unpreserved drops and Optive drops. Eye drops for dryness are classified as preserved drops (individual vials that must be used within 24 hrs), preserved drops, gels and ointments. The preserved drops are more expensive and usually only help the small percentage of people that are really allergic to preservatives. Gels and ointments are normally used at night since regular tears won’t last all night.
Avatar f tn He said he only prescribed it to his private patients who have red , really sore eyes all the time, as there are side effects such as kidney problems. I have discovered that you can only get it privately and it is ever so expensive here. My dry eyes are only bad when I am really stressed , (when I get a dry throat too) or when I watch TV for more than 2 hours or other thingswork on the computer too long. So I guess I'm' really lucky. Thank-you again for all your help.
256161 tn?1196879046 About your eyes, have you been to the opthamologist? You may need steroid eye drops or restasis to provide relief of that symptom. Do not put off having this checked out as it could be something more serious. Please keep us posted on how you are doing. As long as it takes to get a dx, the process of getting the treatment in the right doses and combinations of meds can take a long time too. It has taken me a year and we are still tweaking the meds.
