Restasis and contacts

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis and contacts

restasis

Avatar n tn That would be up to you and your contact lens fitter. The restasis should not be put on the contacts but some people use restasis in the morning before putting them in and at bedtime after they're removed.
Avatar f tn restasis is the definitive treatment for moderate or severe dry eyes but it takes 5-6 months to work and often strings when starting out. My wife and I both take restasis and have for several years.
Avatar m tn I have been using the restasis for about 3 months and have not really noticed a difference. My right eye is worse that the left. The doctor plugged the lower lid, however I cannot tell much of a difference. The irritation is coming from the upper lid. I look in my right eye and can see tears along the lower portion. If I plug the upper lid and unplug the lower would that help? Also based on the Schirmers score would this be considered mild/moderate or servere dry eye?
Avatar f tn Dr Hagan, is the Restasis contact friendly? if not, i may have to give up the contacts and start using my glasses on a full time basis. Being I am in the Cleveland area I have the best Dr''s too choose from. My eyes are severly dry & Restasis seems to be the best treatment option for me. Also I will starrt taking the Omega -3 suppl. as you suggested. thankx again for your comments take care j.
Avatar f tn I tried a short course of steriod drops which relieved my symptoms, but they returned as soon as I stopped. Restasis for three months has offered no improvement. Pataday and Acular provide no benefit either. I am at a loss as to what to do next. I would greatly appreciate any direction or ideas.
Avatar f tn I am on my 3rd dr and just got diagnosed with Thygesons.. I am on my 3rd flare up and basically was told I cannot wear contacts. I have glasses, but I've been wearing them for 6 months every single day and I would like to resume my normal life without them. It does not seem I will ever be able to wear them because after I treat my eye issue with steroids, it gets better after weeks and weeks, but then comes back once I resume contacts.
Avatar f tn I am a 23 year old female in good health. I am nearsighted (-3.00/-3.50) and wear contacts. During the days my eyes seem normal, maybe a little dry in the wind or if I spend a lot of time reading, but at night it is terrible. I have tried many different kinds of eyedrops, but it doesn't seem to matter what/how much I use before bed, I am always getting up in the middle of the night with severly dry eyes and putting more eyedrops in.
917763 tn?1311628896 I wear contacts and have always had a dry eye problem after a few hours. But it seems lately the rewetting drops does not help at all. Usually I have the ceiling fan on in the bedroom but my nose gets so dry it hurts to breath thru it. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue at sometime during tx. I bought a humidifier today, I'm going to put next to the bed tonight. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn My eyes are blurry and dry. I wear contacts. My OPT said she could see dry spots on my eyes. She said try more eye drops and don't wear contacts as long. My eyesight has also gotten worse she doesn't know for sure if it will go back to normal or not. This really didn't start untill halfway through tx. I am at wk 22 of 24. I would definitely get it checked. I can really tell my eyesight has changed.
Avatar n tn The lense felt like it was a thicker material and immediately sucked all the oxygen out of my eyes. During this period I also started on Restasis and even that doesn't seem to be working. I have Raynaud's disease and think this may have something to do with my dry eyes. What brand of contact lenses do you think would be best? Thank you!
Avatar f tn Any thing to clear my eyes a little........... And what are the restrictions for Restasis users, if any?????????????? By the way I am a contact lens wearer, but even with that I took a whole week off my lenses and the redness still didn't clear. Any advice would be great.....................
Avatar n tn I had pink eye two months ago. Since then I have experienced very dry eyes, to the point that I can't open my eyes in the morning because they feel dried shut. I were contacts and have also noticed blurry vision and extremely sensitive to sunlight. My eyes also begin burning in the evenings I took the eye drops for pink eye and made sure to change out all makeup and through away the contaminated contacts.
Avatar m tn Initially ophthamologist told me my symptoms are from dry eyes, I have used, systane, refresh, restasis, steroids, dry eye multivitamins, fish oil, and now I have punctal plugs. I have tried antiglare coating for glasses, nothing takes the glare, starburst and halos away. Symtpoms are worse at night. I never had any kind of eye surgery done, used to wear contacts, but discontinued contacts 6-7 years ago. I do not know if any one has any clue, regarding what could be the potential diagnosis.
Avatar m tn Your doctor is trying to treat dry eye keratopathy using tear drops and restasis. THis might help improve vision. Also there may be some posterior capsule opacification requiring a simple, very safe, yag laser capsulolotomy. Sometimes the yag laser procedure needs to be done early on like this. Generally after 90 days, the eye should be stable and suitable for the yag laser if needed.
Avatar n tn Ok I have tried so many contacts now and I have found some that really work for my dry eyes and now they no longer make them in my perscription. I use to be able to wear contacts all day and everyday but after I had my son I guess my eyes changed. The thicker the contact lens and the less water content is best for me. Can anyone recommend contacts for me that fit this decription?
184420 tn?1326739808 I went to my eye doctor and he put me on Lotemax and Restasis drops and they have helped immensely. He said he is going to keep me on the Restasis for the entire time I am on treatment. Personally I would see an eye doctor for this problem. An eye doctor can examine your eyes to be sure there is nothing else gouing on with them. The drugs can cause some eye problems so, in my opinion, it is best to get to the bottom of any symptoms .
Avatar n tn I also have some dry mouth problems and I also feel dehydrated a lot. I have seen a specialist in the past and it was expensive and they didn't seem to think there was anything they could do except keep me on restasis (this was 4 years ago). Could my symptoms be a sign of something more serious? Is there anything else I can try besides restasis and using non-preservative eye drops during the day.
415867 tn?1323365503 Just curious---why is she giving you Restasis? I had Lasik and did not take anything...but there are pain meds and sleeping meds you have to take afterwards. I was not ttc then. I will say doing Lasik was probably the best money I have ever spent!!!!
Avatar f tn Pauline: Can't say for sure that it would decrease in your case but as a generalization does reduce # of drops. If you are using artificial tears 4-6 times/day and gel at bedtime without relief you should see an Eye MD ophthalmologist to discuss going on restasis. I have posted this before but both my wife and I have severe dry eyes. after using tears 4-8 times/day we have been on restasis for 7-8 years with great results.
Avatar n tn your fitter can advise you and you can use the search feature on this page to pull up discussions of contacts and dry eyes. Your best options are glasses or lasik.
20830596 tn?1554933789 Two forms. No tears is Aqueous deficiency (I have and am on restasis) and the eyes water all the time.
Avatar f tn Go back and try contacts again. I'm a -17 in both eyes and had a terrible time with contacts until I went to several ophthalmologists and optometrists and found a workable solution which includes: 1) Using only daily disposables (Acuvue 1-day was best for me). They are dramatically thinner for high prescription and eliminate need for irritating contact lens solutions. 2) Aggressive tx for dry eye including punctal plugs, Restasis, and 1000 mg fish and flaxseed oil 2/daily.
Avatar f tn Probably why your contacts started bothering you and lasik can make dry eyes worse. Go to my website and scroll through the blog posts and read the updated article on dry eyes. Restasis is wonderful but will take 3-6 months to begin to work. Be sure you use the vials not the multi-drop bottle which is hugely more expensive.
Avatar n tn Suggest you see countless + 1 ophthalmologists this time a corneal/external disease specialist and use a trial of 4 months off contacts and 4 months on ReStasis with use of a steroid drop for the first 10-14 days of therapy. Also use the search feature and read about the other adjunct therapy for dry eyes.
Avatar n tn I noticed my left eyelid had become droopy, once I went back I stopped wearing contacts and its been about 3 years now. Its gotten a little better but my left eyelid still does not feel ok, it still feels a little swollen/droopy, it kinda feels itchy too, its hard to describe what it feels like... I'm more aware of my left eye. On days which gets hot, the problem gets worst. when I sleep it makes my left eye feel more comfortable.
Avatar m tn I was pregnant at the time and the doctor said that it might be the cause. So I had my baby the end of March and contacts still bothering me so I went back to doctor. I told him my contacts were bothering me but he said I had allergies, he prescribed some drops. I went back twice, the second time he said everything was fine, okay to wear my contacts again. He said there wasn't a problem with them and I could use Zatidor if had any more problems so I did.
