Avatar n tn Well written sir, there is lot to know about Restless Leg Syndrome which is clearly said here https://www.sleepmedcenter.

1542096 tn?1293162924 Hi, restless leg syndrome (RLS) can be treated by underlying illness, if known. For example, a search for iron deficiency by blood testing to reveal underlying iron deficiency anemia by supplying iron. Elimination of caffeine, smoking and alcohol can be very helpful. Getting better sleep and exercise can help some persons affected by restless legs. Drugs include carbidopa-levodopa, opioids , tramadol for intermittent symptoms, carbamazepine, clonazepam, diazepam, triazolam, and clonidine.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your feedback. We would also love it if doctors would give out MedHelp's URL to their patients to help track symptoms. Then their patients could just click Email This on their trackers and send it to their doctors for review. We could easily add Restless Legs as a symptom and Mirapex as a treatment to the Sleep Tracker. Would that work for you?
Avatar f tn hallucinations is reported but in people with parkinson’s taking requip, rarely in people taking it for restless leg syndrome like your dad and more commonly in elderly taking requip in combination with levodopa. so, your dad needs to be examined for Parkinson’s disease since he is having hallucination with this drug. He may need to be administered therapy for parkinson’s disease, levo dopa, carbidopa etc. Requip will need revision or withdrawal. Hope this helps. Take care.
Cat I developed what I think is restless leg syndrome 3 months after knee replacement surgery. In talking to a friend today, I found that she has had the same issues and she is taking the same antidepressant, citalopram. Has anyone ever heard of this drug causing these symptoms? I have been on citalopram for several years, and have not had many side effects until now. The symptoms are bad enough to interrupt my sleep.
689327 tn?1240229164 Does anyone have restless leg syndrome and if so what do doctors recommend to take so you can sleep? No matter what position I am in it hurts which it makes it hard for me to sleep I am so tired so any ideas would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Hi there. Restless leg syndrome is marked by unpleasant leg sensations at bedtime leading to insomnia. The cause is not known and could be seen in association with pregnancy, obesity, smoking, iron deficiency anemia, polyneuropathy associated with hypothyroidism, hormonal disorders like diabetes, kidney failure, drugs like caffeine, zantac and anti depressants like elavil. Treatment involves iron deficiency lookout and its treatment.
Avatar f tn Hello. This certainly sounds like restless leg syndrome. I have had it for many years. My neurologist prescribed Requip (Roprinolol). I take this nightly and if I don't, I soon regret it. My legs start to go crazy at about 6:00 every night. I simply can't keep them still without the medication. Best of luck finding relief - I can relate!
Avatar f tn There is no forum for this, Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), so I figured this was probably the best place to post this question. I have had RLS for about 2 years, and it has gotten progressively worse. I take 1mg of Requip in the morning, and NOW (I just started) I take 1 mg. in the afternoon, and 2mg. at night.
1591337 tn?1297101349 Well, this sounds alot like restless leg syndrome, and they have other meds for this like Requip, ask your MD about this and if your symptoms sound like you have this and you can start to sleep better! Good Luck!
304653 tn?1217001302 does anyone here experience restless leg syndrome? If you do or have, what can you do to stop it? I had it bad the first trimester but then it stoped. but the last few nights its come back. eeeeek what an uncorfortable feeling!!
Avatar m tn Hello dear and welcome to the medhelp forum. Restless leg syndrome is seen in association with stress, diabetes, iron deficiency anemia, caffeine use and if you have been withdrawn from sedatives. You must try massaging your legs, warm baths and gentle stretching exercises. There are medicines, which have been effective in controlling symptoms like requip. Take iron supplements if iron deficiency has been detected.
1257808 tn?1322762215 s are functioning properly, and again, your doctor can test for that. Also, if you have peripheral neuropathy, this increases restless leg syndrome. Those with diabetes or who have been long time heavy alcohol drinkers sometimes get that. Dealing with the underlying issue in those cases can improve restless leg syndrome. Other options are medicine. Meds that increase dopamine in the brain are known to help (I know about Requip as an option) and calcium channel blockers seem to help.
Avatar f tn i am taking requip for it and it is keeping it at bay. i am going for more tests for it looks like ms. does this sound more like parkinsons? and second is there such a thing as a brain air bubble.
Avatar n tn You could ask your doc for Requip...it is used for restless leg syndrome. There are a few other meds that could possibly help...one of them being Neurontin. Talk to your doc about it....Other than that, I used a heating pad that wrapped around my legs for that wanting to move constantly feeling...it helped some...not alot, but some. Valium will not help for this.
329994 tn?1301663248 Does anyone on here have Restless Leg Syndrome and are they being treated for it? and could you please list your symptoms, what it feels like. I don't believe that I have it, but my doctor put me on Klonopin to see if that helps. What I have our leg aches, ankle aches, basically all day long but they are worse after exercise and at night. They ache so much, they drive me crazy. But I don't get that creepy crawly feeling everyone talks about.
Avatar m tn My question is this i have been clean now for 3 weeks of going cold turkey and yes it was hell but i have done it, but its left my with what i can only describe as Restless leg syndrome!! is this going to last for the rest of my life of will it sort itself out over time?
Avatar f tn Have had Restless Syndrome for 25+ years. Had hyperactive thyroid nodules and this summer had RAI treatment to shut down the nodule. Recent blood test shows that my actual thyroid is also starting to shut down and my risk of being hypothyroid is very high. I read that Hypothyroid disease can cause Restless Leg Syndrome. Since I already have RLS, will I have to look forward to an increase in the severity of my RLS??? I am very worried.
691935 tn?1421027090 Cold (air) on your legs can help a bit, but what really works is a small dose of a pain pill (narcotic) The only non-narcotic pain med that I found to work is Ultram (Tramadol). It is by rx as well. There are some meds that are made just for Restless Leg Syndrome that you may want to talk to your doc about. It's horrible as I suffer from it as well.
1390101 tn?1281000559 Have you tried Requip for the RLS? I ask because I started Sub 4 months ago and still have RLS and my doc said it could be something I will have the rest of my life, and suggested Requip but I have yet to try it. Congrats on not going back to the Mirapex, and also on controlling the gambling addiction! Are you getting any outside help for this ie; counseling? My Dad had a gambling addiction for years and bet and lost the "farm" more times than I can remember.
Avatar m tn I also get twitching in my legs, most of the time when I try to lie down at night, I have L2/3, L3/4 abd L4/5 herniated among other things. My doctor is treated me for restless leg syndrome with Klonipin and Requip. You should go in to your doctor they will be able to tell you exactly what's causing the problem and perhaps give you meds to control it. Good Luck and Feel Better.
230948 tn?1235844329 I am on Requip for Restless Leg Syndrome, which I learned alot of Fibro sufferers have, and I love it! It also helps tremendously with my terrible foot pain I have in the day. I can't do without it! This is one of the few meds I haven't had any adverse effects from either. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn Hi, I am going through withdraws bad but I asked for a prescription for restless leg syndrome (Requip) I am in Canada, so I'm not sure what the name would be down there. It has worked amazingly!!!! also for the hot/cold clammy sweats that seem endless - I've been taking ibuprofen fever medication and that has taken away the sweats etc.. I know what your going through this is my 1/1/2 day.
Avatar n tn I need to get off aand people tell me soboxon is the only way but that is addictive. I want to stp on my own. Also have restless leg syndrome. Will requip help with that? Wha can i do?
620048 tn?1358018235 Most of the time they tell you to take it at night before bedtime for restless leg syndrome but since I have the same problem you do I was told 2x daily. The only side effect I have noticed is nausea but that hasn't happened in a while, though it was a problem when I 1st started it ( I took a dramamine about 3omin before & that helped too). I hope this helps!! God bless you!!
Avatar m tn Restless Leg Syndrome is associated with kidney problems, pregnancy, and iron deficiency. And you don't have to be anemic to be low enough on iron to experience RLS. If you have restless legs, you should have your serum ferritin checked: This is a measure of body iron stores-not just your hemoglobin and hematocrit, which is what doctors test for when they suspect anemia.
