Avatar n tn For two weeks she was in intensive care and than she was moved to a nursing/rehabilitation center. The first nursing home was terrible. So we moved after one month. She's been receiving physical therapy since the move. We have noticed some improvements but she remains on a feeding tube although the home has indicated she has had glasses of water and successfully eaten crackers. Her alertness remains non consistent. Its as if she's sleepwalking.

Avatar f tn For most stroke patients, the rehabilitation process includes nursing, occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT), therapeutic recreation (TR) and speech therapy (or speech language therapy, SLP). OT involves exercise and training to help the stroke patient relearn everyday activities, sometimes called the Activities of daily living (ADLs), such as eating and drinking, dressing, bathing, cooking, reading and writing, and toileting.
Avatar n tn I've recently just gotten a job at a nursing home and I need to go have a tuberculosis skin test done. I'm type one. Has anyone had this done and is it safe? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I have been involved in stroke rehabilitation for the super elderly with great success. Without exception, I have found the professional services not worth the powder to blow them to Mars. The "consultants" charge $200 an hour. First of all, do not give up hope. (1) Hire your own help to assist in rehabilitation. A person does not need a degree to hold an elderly woman's hand. There is no substitute for TLC and love. (2) Spend as much time as possible with the person.
Avatar n tn Later they told us he also suffered a stroke. He is in a nursing home and a week ago failed his 2nd swallow test (the one performed in the hospital). They immediately stopped all therapy, physical and speech, at first saying they were giving him a rest because he wasn't making any progress. Later my mother was told it was stopped due to insurance reasons.
Avatar m tn Would he have learned anything in prison, something like rehabilitation? Probably not, but at least he would have been incarcerated and not able to be involved with this. Where do situations like this leave us? This kid didn't learn anything from his first scrape with the law. Chances are, this won't be his last either. He'll do some time for this, but when he gets out his gang will give him "props" and he will have garnered more respect from his fellow gang members.
Avatar m tn For skilled nursing facility, stroke survivors require daily skilled nursing or rehabilitation services that can be provided only on an inpatient basis. So, he may have been shifted. Regards.
Avatar n tn He went through 3 weeks at a Rehabilitation Hospital where his progress was slow. He regained his swallowing, but not much more improvement. He was transferred to a skilled nursing rehab and is not making much progress. We are told there is a time window for improvement. He still requires full assist. Does anyone know of a wonderful rehabilitation facility that actually could give him the care he needs to gain some function. His mind is sharp, but his body can't do anything.

Avatar n tn I am looking to find a rehabilitation facility for my nephew while my sister is being treated for aggresive chemotherapy? He is incontinent, has vision problems and has not seen a doctor in years. What kind of facility could I send him so he can get the proper care and attention he needs while my sister is ill? It looks as though I may get custodial rights and would like to know the best possible choices to make in a short period of time. Thanks.
7913316 tn?1399673088 I wanna pack up my hospital but I really have no idea what to pack. There was a girl who commented on someone post && told them to look in her journal I fell asleep && now I cant find the post. Can anyone else tell me please!
1041487 tn?1256327719 She has been in a nursing home for about a month now, and the CNAs do passive-range-of-motion exercises with her legs, arms and neck once per day. I do the same exercises with her once in the evening. This is the only recovery therapy that she has received. The Director of Physical Therapy says that nothing else can be done for her, because she is unresponsive. Is this normal procedure? I would think that a Speech Therapist would come in and try some sort of exercises with her.
362203 tn?1248810310 Ahhhh so you will need meds for hyper thyroidism probably. I do not know how those meds affect your nursing. I only know about the thyroid hormone meds for hypo. Your dr should know this though.....also maybe your babies pediatrician will know as well. Good luck and hopefully someone with hyper thyroidism will pipe in here!
1508698 tn?1360215710 Hi all!! I am looking into going to a outpatient rehabilitation center. I was wondering if anyone here has ever gone, what all it included, if you liked it, and the price. Just wanted some input from people who have gone so I will know what to expect.
Avatar n tn He now has scoliosis because of poor posture, massive headaches and ear aches, hallucinations, and other problems due to being depressed and given up. We really want to find a home where he can be among people with the same rehabilitation challenges. It would be ideal if the home offered psychologist and a physical therapist; however, even if the home had one or the other it would be better than his situation right now. He just sits at home doing nothing.
Avatar f tn All of these are issues but not sure what are the biggest concerns when it comes to getting the additional days in rehabilitation approved.
644974 tn?1312758070 Are you trying to write a journal through the Journal interface or through the Tracker interface? On My MedHelp, on the Journals panel, you should see a link that says, Write a new journal entry. If you click that, you should see a form that has text boxes for Title, Journal Entry and Tags. Do you see that?
