Avatar f tn Hello. In complete tears, there is typically a surgical repair suggested by the doctor. However, if you are not getting a surgical repair, rest and rehabilitation would be key. How much pain are you in? Have you been referred to a physical therapist? This would be a good way to identify where you should be in your rehabilitation process. If not, you can put in a search engine 'gluteus medius rehabilitation exercises.
Avatar f tn Rehabilitation after arthroscopic meniscectomy carries little or no risk. Rehabilitation is continued until the knee has regained full range of motion and strength . Strengthening and coordination exercises can be tried after discussing with your orthopedician: Lateral lunges, front lunges, half squats, leg press, lateral step ups, knee extension (90-40 degrees), hamstring curls, hip adduction and abduction, hip flexion and extension, toe raises, try all of these under an instructor.

5987839 tn?1381922502 They get you up and moving almost straight away now, with rehabilitation focusing on early mobilisation of the knee joint, building up quadriceps and hamstring strength.....rehabilitation usually includes walking, bending the legs, and doing exercises that stretch and build up the leg muscles. All of which is going to be more of a problem for you with the preexisting spasticity and mobility issues, but in a 'normal' person recovery generally ranges anywhere from 3-8 weeks.....
Avatar m tn After six weeks, patients begin weight bearing and other exercises for another six weeks. Low impact exercises are started at 12 weeks with full exercise at 16 weeks. Return to sports Guidelines is rigorous and you must seek your orthopaedician’s clearance to be able to perform sports specific drills at top speed.
1461944 tn?1286027942 You require sessions with an experienced rehabilitation expert, who will walk you through the exercises. This should have been done before surgery. I am dismayed at the number of surgeons who direct patients directly into the operating room for sciatic pain without having them treated by a rehabilitation specialist. After a laminectomy is performed there should be no pain whatsoever. Discuss this with your surgeon. You need another MRI.
Avatar f tn So far my rehab has been going well, however today after sitting my damaged knee crossed over my good knee during a meeting, i stood-up and my knee has started clicking and feels really uncomfortable. Do you think that i may have indadvertedly caused some damage to the graft (I don't usually sit in that position...)?
Avatar m tn Now I am paying for it, my knee gives way and I have very bad pain every day my leg is half the size of my other and you can see the sutures move in my knee. I have to go for a Camera in my knee in 4 weeks have I damaged my self ? or can i repair this? pls give me some advice I know its my own fault.
20881263 tn?1561816684 s really important to continue that until they release you from the need and at that point, they should give you exercises and stretches to do on your own. Proper rehabilitation of the knee really does require this. So, you are likely recovering still and would guess that this 'giving way' feeling is the result of that. Please confirm with your doctor though. If the sensation of buckling continues, you may have retorn the tendon, unfortunately.
Avatar m tn Increasing activities that activate the rectus femoris would be quite helpful for you.
6736456 tn?1384270917 About 3 days in with this pain my left buttock and behind the left knee started feeling numb (or like a falling asleep feeling). No pain between the buttock and knee. I went to a chiropractor and she said it is not a sciatic pinch because it is not a continuous pain down the leg. My lower back pain is gone, but still have the other pains.
Avatar n tn This is followed by rehabilitation with a Chartered Physiotherapist to restore the range of ankle and knee movement, and to restore the muscle strength that is lost during the immobilisation period. I think it is too early to remove the cast in your case. May be you can ask your doctor about plastic cast walker, which is much lighter and allows you to walk to some extent. Once full fracture healing is confirmed by the doctor, rehabilitation can continue with a physiotherapist.
Avatar m tn I had the arthroscopy on the 30/11/2010 and have done much rehabilitation with Hydro and gym exercises(3-5 times a week) but the left knee still has pain on the underside of the knee cap and inside area. Pain is at a level 3 and once being used(exercising, walking, bending) quickly raises to a level 6 pain in these areas. Also I have sharp stabbing pains on & off in the lower inside area to a pain level 8 enough to stop me in my tracks with no prior warning signs before this happens.
Avatar m tn it is typically felt from the low back to behind the thigh and radiating down below the knee. It is most commonly caused due to a herniated disc or adjacent bone, tumor, muscle irritating the nerve. treatment options include addressing the underlying cause for the symptoms, medications to relieve pain and inflammation and relax muscles, physical therapy. Surgical options for persisting sciatica includes nerve decompression at the lower spine level.
Avatar f tn I had arthoscopy with a microfracture on my knee January 06, 2014. The pain post surgery is worse than the pain before (and different) and I have physical limitations I didn't have before. I could not extend my leg parallel to the floor while sitting without wincing so I was given a steroid shot and three rounds of Synvisc four months post surgery. Sadly I have not noticed much improvement a month later. I was not told any of this was possible prior to the surgery.
Avatar n tn my 15 year old son has had a cartlidge repair ,how long is the rehabilitation to return to football
Avatar n tn I have bad arthritis in my knee. My ortho doc (after MRI) says I tore the meniscus but he thinks arthroscopy is a waste of my time and money since I have such thin cartilage. He took all the fluid out and injected me with cortisone earlier today. The pain is unbearable and the swelling is coming back already. Has anyone had torn meniscus with advanced arthritis and had sucess with arthroscopy. He says I am not ready yet for knee replacement.
Avatar m tn Now about a month back i had fallen while snowboarding and it bent my knee inwards the pain at the time wasnt too bad but its worsening and also is making my ankle hurt more. Im only 21 years old 140 lbs any type of reason for the constant ankle pain would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn I was doing many physical exercises, innumerable hours of special massage, salubrious baths, sea water. Also much training in walking, wearing of special bandages. Doctors can not to help me, by saying it is a grey area for them. My limbs are numb and lame. I suffer when I go, because my deviation causes me much inconvinience. Are there some medical injections into them to improve circulation because other methods are useless?
Avatar n tn Stroke rehabilitation should begin as soon after a stroke, the priority being stbilising medical condition and controlling life-threatening ones. it may include therapy for communication disorders helping you regain lost abilities to speak, write and comprehend. Exercises to improve motor skills, mobility training to use walker or canes, improve range of motion therapy includes exercises to help lessen spasticity, psychological evaluation and constraint induced therapy.
Avatar m tn Second, patients must be compliant with the post-operative rehabilitation after a meniscus repair. Rehabilitation following a meniscus repair is more significant than if the torn piece of meniscus is simply removed.Your symptoms might have appeared due to over exertion and as such nothing serious is presumed. You can see your physician for a normal checkup. Avatar n tn Some remedies that other people have used and that we have recommended with our patients is rehabilitation exercises. These exercises should loosen up some muscles and fibrous tissue in that area that could lessen the pain symptoms. Alternative treatments can also be considered like accupressure or accupuncture. As always, you should discuss these first with your doctor. Rehab exercises are usually recommended by Rehabilitation Medicine specialists. Regards and God bless...
Avatar m tn Hi, as you suffered hemiplegia, the treatment after hospitalization is mainly physiotherapy based exercises to train the adjacent neurons to the injury site. The neurons which died during injury will not work again. The only thing is to teach the surrounding nerve cells to takeover the function of lost neurons. This can only be achieved by reverse training that is starting from the muscle end.
