Common Questions and Answers about Rehabilitation knee brace

rehab

20881263 tn?1561816684 s really important to continue that until they release you from the need and at that point, they should give you exercises and stretches to do on your own. Proper rehabilitation of the knee really does require this. So, you are likely recovering still and would guess that this 'giving way' feeling is the result of that. Please confirm with your doctor though. If the sensation of buckling continues, you may have retorn the tendon, unfortunately.
5987839 tn?1381922502 They get you up and moving almost straight away now, with rehabilitation focusing on early mobilisation of the knee joint, building up quadriceps and hamstring strength.....rehabilitation usually includes walking, bending the legs, and doing exercises that stretch and build up the leg muscles. All of which is going to be more of a problem for you with the preexisting spasticity and mobility issues, but in a 'normal' person recovery generally ranges anywhere from 3-8 weeks.....

Avatar f tn I had knee surgery (tibial tuberosity osteotomy with lateral release) 4 weeks ago. Was wanting to hear from other people who have gone through the same procedure. 4 weeks on I can bend my knee about 30 degrees and I am getting a bit more voluntary control of the muscles around my patella. My knee is still a bit swollen and I am still icing 2-3 times per day. I go back to see my surgeon in 2 weeks and would like to know if others have been referred to the physio sooner as this will be 5.
Avatar f tn I had arthoscopy with a microfracture on my knee January 06, 2014. The pain post surgery is worse than the pain before (and different) and I have physical limitations I didn't have before. I could not extend my leg parallel to the floor while sitting without wincing so I was given a steroid shot and three rounds of Synvisc four months post surgery. Sadly I have not noticed much improvement a month later. I was not told any of this was possible prior to the surgery.
Avatar m tn I read "I bought a knee brace for work, and sports. It is like elastaprene, or something. It works well keeping my knee stable (ACL injury). But it makes my skin have a rash. Is there another style material brace I could buy that would not make my skin have a rash? " But no answer. Is there any solution?
Avatar m tn A related discussion, <a href="/posts/Orthopedics/Do-I-need-a--knee-brace-after-my-ACL-surgery/show/2279102">Do I need a knee brace after my ACL surgery?</a> was started.
Avatar m tn and after that, consulting a orthopedic doctor I got a knee brace and on complete bed rest from that time, without keeping my leg down or putting any strain on it. But I am still not able to keep my leg down or stand(tried today morning with help of a stick). So, I am very concerned what should be the next step and whether I will be able to achieve complete recovery and in how much time? Attaching the MRI report with this.
999692 tn?1250637950 d need surgery to fix it. I need a knee brace and to do strengthening exercises so I can still hike, bike, and run. Any suggestions on braces that can withstand such abuse?
Avatar n tn I have been offered a soccer scholarship to play next year in college beginning in august 2009. I injured my knee in july 2008 and have not played sinced. I have been to my orthopedic and they have said my acl is still intact but it is very loose and the option of a brace is available but i have the risk of tearing it complelty as well as other ligaments. Whereas I can opt surgery which I am out for 6-8 months evern though it is not torn.
Avatar n tn Thus, ACL prevents the tibia from sliding too far forward and also contributes stability to other movements at the joint including the angulation, rotation at the knee joint. When an ACL injury occurs, the knee becomes less stable and there is a sensation that the knee will 'give out' from under them. Consequently, there would be difficulty in doing high demand work beyond the activities of daily living.
Avatar f tn Is it o.k. to wear a knee brace that also covers the vaiacose vein in my shin. without the brace I have pain in my knee cap & not sure if any pain is from the varicose vein. it does feel better with the brace on But will it do harm to the varicose vein?
Avatar m tn Now about a month back i had fallen while snowboarding and it bent my knee inwards the pain at the time wasnt too bad but its worsening and also is making my ankle hurt more. Im only 21 years old 140 lbs any type of reason for the constant ankle pain would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Knee braces can provide support, stability, and pain relief for various knee issues, including meniscus tears. By wearing a knee brace, you can alleviate some of the stress on your knee and promote healing.
Avatar f tn Your doctor may have you wear a rigid neck brace or halo vest for up to three months after surgery to keep your spine still and make sure the bones fuse. You may not require a rigid brace after a simple fusion using instrumentation. Most patients are able to return home when their medical condition is stabilized, usually within one week after fusion surgery. Limit your activities to avoid doing too much too soon.
Avatar f tn My son destroyed an ACL playing football -- he lives a normal life without one, but uses an orthopaedic knee brace when he runs or plays sports.
Avatar m tn He also suggested waiting as long as possible for knee replacement so hopefully the brace helps- he did say there were more specialized Patella support braces available also- Can you recommend any if this one seems to help the situation???
645800 tn?1466860955 Yesterday I finally got my new foot brace for my right foot ( called a toe off) . Right from the start it felt so weird walking with it on. Probably mostly because my foot has been dropping and turning in for such a long time that I had gotten somewhat use to it. It is made of carbon fiber material and goes all the way up my shin to just below my knee.
Avatar f tn The answer could go from complete rest to modification of activities and rehabilitation or just rehabilitation. If the tear isn't complete and isn't restricting your activities, rehabilitation is typically a great way to recover from an injury. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Avatar m tn The knee started feeling around 80% better about 3 days ago. I wore knee brace every day even to sleep, 2 days ago I changed to a more comfortable brace with those metal hinges on sides, also slept with it. My current issue/question, is 2 days ago I woke up with a swollen ankle and pain when putting leg down to walk. I don't remember any sprain in ankle at all, I had just walked a theme park the night before with no ankle issue or even the knee felt great.
Avatar f tn thanks for your reply, I was also wondering do you think they would follow the same steps as last time regarding the surgery?? like six weeks on crutches again but no knee brace again or would they maybe change it?
Avatar m tn Back then i got treated with some pills and some exercises. My knee is seen with little inflamation always and sometimes its painful while walking fast and going up the stairs. Avatar f tn See your chiropractor, seriously, I have a knee that does that, he works on it and it is fine. In the mean time, try wearing a knee brace to give it support.
