Avatar f tn I am not sure where you live but there generally are local cardiac rehabilitation programs that your cardiologist should be able to set you up with. These programs tend to be great resources for information and also meeting people (of various ages) with similar heart issues. Once there they will also be able to work with you to maximize your physical conditioning. Some people also find that having more knowledge about their condition helps them better cope.

Avatar m tn Would he have learned anything in prison, something like rehabilitation? Probably not, but at least he would have been incarcerated and not able to be involved with this. Where do situations like this leave us? This kid didn't learn anything from his first scrape with the law. Chances are, this won't be his last either. He'll do some time for this, but when he gets out his gang will give him "props" and he will have garnered more respect from his fellow gang members.
Avatar m tn Most large hospitals offer pulmonary rehabilitation programs of varying length and complexity. Ask your doctor to refer you to such a program and if he can’t or is unwilling, contact the American Lung Association for guidance. If you are willing to put effort into such a program, the quality and perhaps even the length of your life will be enhanced. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I am looking to find a rehabilitation facility for my nephew while my sister is being treated for aggresive chemotherapy? He is incontinent, has vision problems and has not seen a doctor in years. What kind of facility could I send him so he can get the proper care and attention he needs while my sister is ill? It looks as though I may get custodial rights and would like to know the best possible choices to make in a short period of time. Thanks.

594255 tn?1219163564 I wholeheartedly agree with ibizan. Detoxing can be a very dangerous thing to attempt on one's own. We don't know the circumstances of your addiction or what else you may or may not be addicted to. In the past i have been through many detox & rehabilitation programs for various substances and although i know what meds to use and have access to them , i would never attempt to detox without proper supervision.

Avatar n tn He now has scoliosis because of poor posture, massive headaches and ear aches, hallucinations, and other problems due to being depressed and given up. We really want to find a home where he can be among people with the same rehabilitation challenges. It would be ideal if the home offered psychologist and a physical therapist; however, even if the home had one or the other it would be better than his situation right now. He just sits at home doing nothing.

I know it's frustrating but it's only a few more months. In the mean time, there are programs out there to help you care for your daughter. There are even programs to help you go to trade school and have a career so you don't have to rely on minimum wage jobs or programs for long.

Avatar f tn Many States although funding is limited have help through DHHS. Vocational Rehabilitation. Here in NC we have Specialists who can talk to us and test to see what direction to go in. Community Colleges often have Certificate Programs for a new career which are 12-18 months. Usually they also have help for folks with disabilities at the guidance office. The problem is the funding cuts to so many programs. Community colleges sometimes have short classes one exploring a new career.
