rehab

1508698 tn?1360215710 Hi all!! I am looking into going to a outpatient rehabilitation center. I was wondering if anyone here has ever gone, what all it included, if you liked it, and the price. Just wanted some input from people who have gone so I will know what to expect.
Avatar f tn My mom suffered a stroke and is currently in a rehab facility. They plan to release her in a few days but we would like to get additional inpatient therapy approved. She has done well and think with quality therapy she can return to being mostly self sufficient. Is there anyone with recommendations or resources for getting this approved? We understand it is an insurance issue but we might be willing to pay out of pocket for additional days for her. She will need 24/7 care at this time.
Avatar n tn We would appreciate if some one knows a good facility where our son can receive rehabilitation especially to correct his behavioral issues?
Avatar f tn He is still very aware and conscious. Is there hope or rehabilitation for pons stroke patient and what advise can you give the family. He is being considered for home care facility.
Avatar n tn I am looking to find a rehabilitation facility for my nephew while my sister is being treated for aggresive chemotherapy? He is incontinent, has vision problems and has not seen a doctor in years. What kind of facility could I send him so he can get the proper care and attention he needs while my sister is ill? It looks as though I may get custodial rights and would like to know the best possible choices to make in a short period of time. Thanks.
Avatar f tn The Act provides for both preventive and promotional aspects of rehabilitation like education, employment and vocational training, job reservation, research and manpower development, creation of barrier-free environment, rehabilitation of persons with disability, unemployment allowance for the disabled, special insurance scheme for the disabled employees and establishment of homes for persons with severe disability. Myastenia gravis as such is no diabilty. Refer to http://www.ccdisabilities.
1056851 tn?1318720978 Long term disability policies differ substantially from one another in some respects so it's important to read the policy that covers you. FYI Many group policies provide coverage based on the "own/regular occupation" definition for the first two years and revert to an "any occupation" definition thereafter (i.e. any occupation for which you are reasonably qualified by training, experience, and education).
Avatar f tn Your sister will need inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation preferably at a facility that specializes in TBI. If you are in the Northeast US, Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation comes to mind but there are others. You and her family will need a lot of patience and understanding to help her. God willing, she will make a dramatic recovery over the coming years. I've witnessed the miracles given to my wife but they occur over time. I wish you both well and keep us posted here.
Avatar m tn What is the typical recovery time? If they have trouble walking now will the rehabilitation be an isssue?
Avatar m tn My 46-year old son (end-stage liver) was discharged from a local hospital (transfusions and paracenteses) and transferred to a rehabilitation clinic. This place appears to be a hospice in disguise with no patient advocacy and little or no effort to do regular blood work, taps, etc. I had to haul him out of there last week to Mayo (Phoenix) ER to get cipro and an albumin IV, as well as a referral upstairs to Hepatology. He returned to rehab for his bed and three squares.
Avatar n tn s legal definition of disablity. The definition of visual impairment or legal blindness is that with best correction your better eye must have a visual acuity of 20/200 or worse. Or your best corrected visual field at its widest must be no more than 20 degrees. Please, note that the definition is WITH BEST CORRECTION in the BETTER EYE. That means with corrective lenses, glasses or contacts (although, for a field test glasses can not be used, because they restrict your field)!
Avatar n tn My father had a colectomy with colostomy mid-May due to a severe infection caused by diverticulitis. While recovering from surgery in a rehabilitation facility, he was diagnosed with c-dif. He was prescribed Flagyl and Vancomycin. However, he had an allergic reaction to the Vanco on his first day of treatment and it was immediately dc'd. He cont'd on Flagyl for 14 days. However, when they received the results of the stool culture, he was told today he still has c-dif.
Avatar f tn My son is in rehabilitation facility for his Percocet addiction. He was taken 4pills 30mg daily for 5-6 month. He is there for a week, and I was able to visit him. We have to fly 5 1/2 hours to see him. I would love to do it every weekend, but today on the phone he ask me not to come. Because he needs some time to get his thought together I dont know what to do. We really want to be there for him and support him. He has depression and anxiety. Maybe that the reason.
Avatar n tn Does anyone know of a wonderful rehabilitation facility that actually could give him the care he needs to gain some function. His mind is sharp, but his body can't do anything.I feel as though he will never get out of the SNF. If you can come up with some money, is there a place for a patient like this. On the west coast, all I am coming up with are out patient programs.Any ideas would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn Would he have learned anything in prison, something like rehabilitation? Probably not, but at least he would have been incarcerated and not able to be involved with this. Where do situations like this leave us? This kid didn't learn anything from his first scrape with the law. Chances are, this won't be his last either. He'll do some time for this, but when he gets out his gang will give him "props" and he will have garnered more respect from his fellow gang members.
Avatar n tn Now if you are a low vision patient that is nearly legally blind, then I recommend you also see an ophthalmologist or optometrist that specializes in LOW VISION rehabilitation. They can help you with magnifiers, telescope type glasses and reading machines that will allow you to try to make the most of the little vision you have. You have so very much still to offer, even though you are visually handicapped. Erik Weihenmeyer climbed Mt. Everest and he is TOTALLY blind.
572651 tn?1530999357 The very wise doctor kept her after the successful surgery on Friday and is now trying to find a suitable rehabilitation facility she can go to while she heals. Her spirits sound good, in spite of lots of drugs, itching and a slow hospital computer connection speed. She asked that we let you know her status so you all can stop holding your collective breath for news.
Avatar n tn I can only hope you get her there in time. The facility is affiliated through southwest hospital in Berea Ohio . Its Oakview rehabilitation center. They will hold her and if they feel needed get court orders to hold and treat people in your sisters situation , spirilang out of control. They have very good doctors and medical . Good luck to you Its hard in both situations . yours and your sisters.
Avatar n tn I was curious as to whether or not you could speak to her physician on getting her into a rehabilitation facility. They wouldn't do a drip to wean her on pain meds, but they could work with her on weight loss (which if its a significant amt, I'm sure is contributing to her pain.) Physical therapy would not only assist in weight, but strength, mobility and they also can do quite abit in the aspect of pain control.
Avatar n tn She spent a week in ICU then a week on the floor before being transferred to a rehabilitation facility. Two days ago she was taken from the rehab to the orthopedic office to review her broken ankle and was rushed into emergency surgery for the ankle because it was really unstable. They put plates and screws in and less than 48 hours late she is presenting sepsis again her BP is 77/90, HR is 130-145 BPM, O2 stat is fluctuating between 82-90.
Avatar m tn This is called goniometry. Ask your physician to recommend a rehabilitation facility that can recommend exercises.
Avatar m tn 10% of stroke patients require care in a nursing home or other long-term facility. For skilled nursing facility, stroke survivors require daily skilled nursing or rehabilitation services that can be provided only on an inpatient basis. So, he may have been shifted. Regards.
Avatar f tn I had a talk with my daughter and she has consented to give me temporary custody of the children and enter an inpatient rehabilitation facility. I am trying to work out the details to get her help so she can raise those babies right. It will be a long road, but it will be worth it. Thanks to everyone who commented and took an interest. I truly appreciate it.
