Avatar m tn My doctor gave me a leaflet on Rehabilitation of the Injured Shoulder and the Stage I exercises are pendular movements. The leaflet says to do these exercises for 5 minutes 5 times a day. Allow the arm to swing with its own weight and don't for the movements. You will be able to find how to do these on the web.
Avatar f tn There was pain, and muscle soreness for quite some time. Therapy and at-home exercises seem to have helped pretty much all of the pain, however, the "ball" of my arm near the shoulder still slips out of the cuff when I move my arm certain directions, and the exercises don't seem to be helping much. Even after all these months.
Avatar n tn It's hard to know for sure, but I would recommend seeing a physical therapist who specializes in orthopedic rehabilitation. Those are the experts in the shoulder joint as well as the spine. It doesn't take long for the shoulder to get "stuck" when a person doesn't move it; the PT can evaluate the shoulder and prescribe exercises or other treatment that may help. See if your doctor feels a referral to PT would be appropriate.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have similar pain but right side. what was the diagnosis in your case?
1197086 tn?1265117044 When you are comfortable with all exercises including dorsiflexion and plantar flexion progressive resistance exercises should be tried. I am sure you might have tried these in your 3 months of physiotherapy. This is followed by aggressive gait training exercises at about 10 weeks following the injury repair leading toward activity specific maneuvers and a return to activities at 4-6 months.

Avatar f tn Hello. In complete tears, there is typically a surgical repair suggested by the doctor. However, if you are not getting a surgical repair, rest and rehabilitation would be key. How much pain are you in? Have you been referred to a physical therapist? This would be a good way to identify where you should be in your rehabilitation process. If not, you can put in a search engine 'gluteus medius rehabilitation exercises.
1415174 tn?1453243103 if I get an injection into the shoulder joint would this speed the time of recovery or would it just feel better for a while? 2. would physical therapy make it go faster or is it really the same if I was given exercises to do at home? 3. If I do nothing will it take the same amount of time and the outcome be the same or would it be a worse outcome? I was injured several times by PT's for my back injury so I am reluctant to go back to another PT. Any advice? 4.

Avatar m tn Sent me to a physical rehabilitation dr. who looked over me for at least an hour. Neck x rays are very good as well. He finally found a handful of painful to the touch knots on my back trapezius muscle which he said is causing my shoulder pain. Could these knots do this??? I also have elbow pain on the same side (left). Should I continue to push more for lung cancer tests??? I am 37 years old. Smoked for a combined total of 7 years of my life.
1461944 tn?1286027942 You require sessions with an experienced rehabilitation expert, who will walk you through the exercises. This should have been done before surgery. I am dismayed at the number of surgeons who direct patients directly into the operating room for sciatic pain without having them treated by a rehabilitation specialist. After a laminectomy is performed there should be no pain whatsoever. Discuss this with your surgeon. You need another MRI.

Avatar n tn The most likely exercises to help repair and rehabilitate the shoulders are rotator cuff exercises usually with cable or band. You can also do later raise with a light band as well.
Avatar f tn I suggest you discuss this with your doctor, or possibly with a specialist (neurologist). Rehabilitation exercises can also help decrease the pain and I also suggest you seek a physical therapist for this. Regards and God bless...
Avatar m tn I am currently about 8 months into my rehabilitation from a rotator cuff repair (on June 10, 2009, I had a small tear in my supraspinatus repaired), and I am still experiencing swelling in my surgery-side hand, usually more noticeable after using my shoulder. It started out with numbness in my thumb and forefinger, which have gradually subsided. At about 3 months, I had a nerve conduction study (and an MRI on my hand at 7 months), both of which have come back "normal.
Avatar m tn Following orthopedic surgeries, such as joint replacements or ligament reconstructions, comprehensive rehabilitation is essential for optimal recovery. Physical therapists collaborate closely with surgeons to develop tailored rehabilitation programs tailored to each patient's specific needs and surgical outcomes. These programs focus on restoring mobility, strength, and function, reducing pain, and facilitating a safe return to daily activities and sports participation.
Avatar m tn In some cases it is reducible and the treatment option is to give rest and wait for healing. Most of the patients that undergo aggressive rehabilitation to restore muscle strength and flexibility do not have an abnormal gait. You should continue with physical therapy exercises and just wait and watch as it might take some time for the leg to come to its normal.
Avatar n tn Medication, heat and massage therapy, posture training courses and physical exercises might help with relieving the pain especially if imaging techniques done are normal. A rehabilitation doctor may help design exercises suited for you. Take care and do keep us posted.
