Avatar f tn Well I leave Thursdays to do an inpatient detox and rehab. After several surgeries I became dependent on oxycodone 15mg 5xday. When I first realized I was addicted I tried to ct and ended up passing out due to my Bp dropping. Then I decided to taper but my dr stopped that as well because they said I needed to have a 3rd back surgery even tho my last one was in April. I'm not walking correctly, kinda hunched over.
Avatar n tn The facilities he has been in specialize in brain injuries and he receives 6-8 hours of therapy each day - physical therapy, occupational therapy, vision therapy, neurocognitive therapy, and speech therapy as well as sessions with neuropyschiatrists and psychologists. It's working. And I see miracles being worked at that facility every day.
Avatar n tn We are in TX and found that the outpatient rehab that was affiliated with the inpatient rehab hospital that my husband was in had water therapy.
Avatar f tn I am not feeling well at all, but as gnarly says you need to feel ok with just being ok. I am receiving lots and lots of therapy here in rehab and learning to re learn myself, if that makes any sense? My emotions are all over the board and all i do is cry.
Avatar m tn She finally admitted that she was hooked and needed help. We got her into a rehab center to hopefully get off them, so we can save our marriage. It is just as hard on me with her not being here becasue she is my best friend and we had our routine of drinking coffee and talking about anything that we want, and it was so depressing to wake up and not see my best friend laying next to me. I was wondering what it is like in rehab.
Avatar f tn After going home from the inpatient rehab center, is it necessary to follow up with visiting the the outpatient rehab center regularly or just continue at home the rehab exercise which be taught at rehab center?
317822 tn?1223241475 I must have been in a decent rehab, because when I was in 20 years ago (for alcohol and drugs) I liked it so much that I didn't want to leave....truth. When I walked through the doors I felt like the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulders. They will keep you comfortable while you detox then they will get you up and your days will be quite full.....group therapy, individual therapy, classes, journaling and meetings (AA and/or NA). You'll also have some free time.
82861 tn?1333453911 Are there any plans in the works for a physical therapy forum? As a veteran of numerous orthopedic surgeries and rehab, I would love to see some kind of expert or even patient-to-patient forum on rehab issues. Surgery is only one step in recovering from an orthopedic injury. The rest of the "cure" is up to the patient's willingness to endure the pain of rehab which is often overlooked by the surgeons themselves.
Avatar f tn If he thinks that he might be interested, I recommend having him sign up to volunteer at your local hospital rehab department or therapy clinic. Most all schools will require a certain amount of volunteer hours, so people have realistic expectations about what they are getting into. We have had several high school students in the same situation at the hospital where I work. The hospital is great about letting the kids volunteer in all the various departments in which they show interest.
Avatar m tn The length of recovery depend on age, general health of the patient, location and size of the meningioma. I would suggest you to opt for physical and occupational therapy to reduce these impairments. Also please be sure to inform your doctor incase a new symptom appears.
Avatar f tn How is it that therapy is suppose to help you deal with why you used when all therapy does is make me want to use? I have been able to numb all my emotional feelings through opiates, even though my pills were used and prescribed for all my surgeries, it was my outlet, as sick as this sounds, hearing the words another surgery was like a free pass to opiates. Then of course it lead to my opiate abuse.
Avatar n tn My 49 year old brother had a massive left hemisphere stroke last August, leaving him paralyzed on the right side and he has made great progress with various modes of walking therapy. He now walks without any aids, albeit slowly and with difficulty. He does walk on a treadmill as part of his therapy and studies are showing that it's excellent for improving the gait to a more normal pattern.
Avatar f tn It was so bad that I had to cut the therapy short a week. The only good thing about the inpatient rehab center was that it did give my husband a good start on his recovery. I think that's all it was for...to continue care until he can get stronger to do out patient therapy. After my husband was out of the inpatient rehab center he was sent to a HealthSouth Out Patient center. They were wonderful.
Avatar n tn what is the average length of rehab therapy after total knee replacement? This discussion is related to On-going Pain after Knee replacement surgery.
Avatar f tn it's been a year since my mom had a stroke, she is in a rehab, but they aren't doing any rehab because they first said she was not responsive enough because she is not able to speak because her tongue is still swollen, she is still unable to speak but she do understand, I had her to write her name, she combs her hair, she will blink once for yes and twice for no, when I question the rehab staff about rehab now they tell me she had exhausted all of her rehab, I don't understand how th
Avatar n tn I posted last night asking if anyone could share their good and bad rehab experiences...why was that deleted? I got an email that there were 3 respnses- If anyone responded please repost! Unless there is some reason we can't share rehab experiences??
764912 tn?1322711843 Hi all, has anyone ever gone for Physical Therapy, specifically for balance therapy? They are sending me for that, just wondered about others experiences and if it helps.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you are putting a lot pressure on yourself to get your son to continue his therapy after he gets out of rehab. I completely understand how you feel, but this is a decision that your son will have to make. I truly hope that he will change his mind and continue his therapy. Have you asked him why he no longer wants to continue therapy? Is there a reason why he is so anxious? I can understand that he would have some anxiety, but it sounds like his anxiety is severe.
1318483 tn?1318347182 Coming to rehab was the best thing that could have happened to me. I truly am thankful for crossing paths with my new pump nurse and grateful for her swiftness in getting me in here. I have physical, occupational and speech therapy every day. This makes for a long day but very much worth it. I see improvement every single day. This hospital has the most caring, compassionate and outgoing staff I have ever seen in my life. You cannot help being optimistic here.
Avatar n tn Acute care for rehab centers normally require a minimum of three hours rehab 5-6 days a week. When my dad was tested, he did not consistently respond to commands. I am positive that he could hear, and he responded some days much better than other days. Keep telling your father that you are working on getting him to a higher level of care. Explain to him on a daily basis that you have to keep working on small steps of progress starting with consistent actions.
Avatar m tn s an excellent hospital w/ lots of awards so no bs here), to get the story straight, and in the end, it seemed like there would be no rehab/therapy available for my mom. It was ridiculous. She needed therapy right away and it was obvious, and yet the doctors were being negiligent because we didn't have insurance. Luckily we found a physical therapist close by through a friend of my mom's, and right now we are paying $50 an hour for a physical or occupational therapy session.

470168 tn?1237471245 I have a query regarding provision of Occupational Therapy in the USA. I want to compare it with provision in the UK. In the UK provision is divided between Health and Education. Education do not have any Occupational Therapist Department as they say "it is not essential to learning". As any mother with an autistic child with sensory differences knows sensory stuff has a huge impact and does make it hard for them to access learning in a school environment.
Avatar f tn Look up massage therapy school in ur area and go check them out! At the schools u no things are done right and every thing is clean because the students get graded!
Avatar m tn She was on a couple of antibiotics and they discharged her to the rehab center, she spent 28 days in the hospital. My mother participated in therapy but barley. She slept, and could hardly lift her legs like she did in the hospital. 4 days later she went back to the hospital for pneumonia and dehydration. We found out she wasn’t receiving her lasix (water pill) at the rehab place. She stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks and went back the rehab.
Avatar m tn When and IF you have a surgery on the shoulder make sure you are Vigilant with physical therapy program soon after the surgery, SCAR TISSUE build up after having surgery without rehab can cause more pain and less range of motion than you had before a surgery. I've had better results going to a sports medicine doctors that specialize on the area injured. NEVER ALLOW A DOCTOR TO INSERT A PAIN PUMP CATHETER INTO YOUR SHOULDER JOINT SPACE DURING SURGERY FOR POST OP PAIN RELIEF .
