rehab

Avatar f tn Well I leave Thursdays to do an inpatient detox and rehab. After several surgeries I became dependent on oxycodone 15mg 5xday. When I first realized I was addicted I tried to ct and ended up passing out due to my Bp dropping. Then I decided to taper but my dr stopped that as well because they said I needed to have a 3rd back surgery even tho my last one was in April. I'm not walking correctly, kinda hunched over.
Avatar n tn The facilities he has been in specialize in brain injuries and he receives 6-8 hours of therapy each day - physical therapy, occupational therapy, vision therapy, neurocognitive therapy, and speech therapy as well as sessions with neuropyschiatrists and psychologists. It's working. And I see miracles being worked at that facility every day.
Avatar n tn We are in TX and found that the outpatient rehab that was affiliated with the inpatient rehab hospital that my husband was in had water therapy.
Avatar f tn As I mentioned earlier and unfortunately insurance companies, Medicare, etc set very high rehab goals. If they are not meant in a given short time frame the insurance will deny payment - or deny further rehab. No longer is a patient allowed to go at their own pace. In defense of these companies it has been medically proven that the sooner you can return to normal function the better, for several reasons. That said I think they have gone a bit too far.
Avatar f tn I am not feeling well at all, but as gnarly says you need to feel ok with just being ok. I am receiving lots and lots of therapy here in rehab and learning to re learn myself, if that makes any sense? My emotions are all over the board and all i do is cry.
Avatar m tn She finally admitted that she was hooked and needed help. We got her into a rehab center to hopefully get off them, so we can save our marriage. It is just as hard on me with her not being here becasue she is my best friend and we had our routine of drinking coffee and talking about anything that we want, and it was so depressing to wake up and not see my best friend laying next to me. I was wondering what it is like in rehab.
Avatar f tn After going home from the inpatient rehab center, is it necessary to follow up with visiting the the outpatient rehab center regularly or just continue at home the rehab exercise which be taught at rehab center?
317822 tn?1223241475 I must have been in a decent rehab, because when I was in 20 years ago (for alcohol and drugs) I liked it so much that I didn't want to leave....truth. When I walked through the doors I felt like the weight of the world had been lifted from my shoulders. They will keep you comfortable while you detox then they will get you up and your days will be quite full.....group therapy, individual therapy, classes, journaling and meetings (AA and/or NA). You'll also have some free time.
7689249 tn?1408018598 well i will be heading to rehab tuesday in memphis its a place called La Paloma its a really good place i am excited and scared i will miss my husband and my doggies they will be so lost without mama and my son i asked him if he would drive me there he said yes he's just so awesome its 17hr drive i want to fly so bad but I'm scared ******** i should just do it already this is my one and only chance and relapse is not an option i asked if i should take my pills on the day i go there and
82861 tn?1333453911 Are there any plans in the works for a physical therapy forum? As a veteran of numerous orthopedic surgeries and rehab, I would love to see some kind of expert or even patient-to-patient forum on rehab issues. Surgery is only one step in recovering from an orthopedic injury. The rest of the "cure" is up to the patient's willingness to endure the pain of rehab which is often overlooked by the surgeons themselves.
Avatar m tn The length of recovery depend on age, general health of the patient, location and size of the meningioma. I would suggest you to opt for physical and occupational therapy to reduce these impairments. Also please be sure to inform your doctor incase a new symptom appears.
Avatar f tn How is it that therapy is suppose to help you deal with why you used when all therapy does is make me want to use? I have been able to numb all my emotional feelings through opiates, even though my pills were used and prescribed for all my surgeries, it was my outlet, as sick as this sounds, hearing the words another surgery was like a free pass to opiates. Then of course it lead to my opiate abuse.
Avatar f tn Rehab combines detox with therapy to cope with the addiction issues either through 12 step programs, personal therapy, or group therapy (or a combination of all three). Many rehab centers use Suboxone as a tool for easing detox for the first couple of weeks. After that, they center on the mental aspects. Drug addiction is not a simply physical addiction (that's called dependence). It's a mental disease that has a physical component. My rehab money was well spent.
Avatar n tn My 49 year old brother had a massive left hemisphere stroke last August, leaving him paralyzed on the right side and he has made great progress with various modes of walking therapy. He now walks without any aids, albeit slowly and with difficulty. He does walk on a treadmill as part of his therapy and studies are showing that it's excellent for improving the gait to a more normal pattern.
Avatar f tn It was so bad that I had to cut the therapy short a week. The only good thing about the inpatient rehab center was that it did give my husband a good start on his recovery. I think that's all it was for...to continue care until he can get stronger to do out patient therapy. After my husband was out of the inpatient rehab center he was sent to a HealthSouth Out Patient center. They were wonderful.
Avatar n tn what is the average length of rehab therapy after total knee replacement? This discussion is related to On-going Pain after Knee replacement surgery.
Avatar f tn it's been a year since my mom had a stroke, she is in a rehab, but they aren't doing any rehab because they first said she was not responsive enough because she is not able to speak because her tongue is still swollen, she is still unable to speak but she do understand, I had her to write her name, she combs her hair, she will blink once for yes and twice for no, when I question the rehab staff about rehab now they tell me she had exhausted all of her rehab, I don't understand how th
Avatar n tn I posted last night asking if anyone could share their good and bad rehab experiences...why was that deleted? I got an email that there were 3 respnses- If anyone responded please repost! Unless there is some reason we can't share rehab experiences??
764912 tn?1322711843 Hi all, has anyone ever gone for Physical Therapy, specifically for balance therapy? They are sending me for that, just wondered about others experiences and if it helps.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you are putting a lot pressure on yourself to get your son to continue his therapy after he gets out of rehab. I completely understand how you feel, but this is a decision that your son will have to make. I truly hope that he will change his mind and continue his therapy. Have you asked him why he no longer wants to continue therapy? Is there a reason why he is so anxious? I can understand that he would have some anxiety, but it sounds like his anxiety is severe.
1462810 tn?1327360449 So maybe the insurance companies are not puppets, maybe they and the pharmaceutical companies and the M.D.s who accept that I'll be in to see them constantly needing medications I can't afford are all just very content with greed.
Avatar f tn With HbsAg out of the way and viral replication diminished using current therapy, an immunomodulatory therapy like SB 9200 that has already shown it's potent activity, will invigorate exhausted hbv Tcells to finally fight the infection till it's eradication! This strategy clearly works since a conventional immonumodulator like the interferon with standard NUCs does just that to achieve cure, albeit at a really low rate cuz of the presence of a flood of surface antigen.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the info. I'll try calling the drug companies, but if I don't get a definitive answer I guess I'll NOT take it during therapy. It seems to help me a LOT, but I started taking it a few months after I treated last time and it's hard to say whether it's the NT factor that helped or whether my body just got over the residual effects. Guess I might be finding out pretty soon.
1318483 tn?1318347182 Coming to rehab was the best thing that could have happened to me. I truly am thankful for crossing paths with my new pump nurse and grateful for her swiftness in getting me in here. I have physical, occupational and speech therapy every day. This makes for a long day but very much worth it. I see improvement every single day. This hospital has the most caring, compassionate and outgoing staff I have ever seen in my life. You cannot help being optimistic here.
Avatar m tn So I can no longer afford to see the doctor or go to physical therepay. So Im doing my own rehab of my sholder, but still in great deal of pain. My question is any ideas for controlling the pain, was taking 4 to 5 hydrocodone/apap 5mg/500mg a day for over a year (only thing that consitently worked). Since I cant see the doctor anymore no more prescription. Ive tried alot of other things, but any ideas would be apprciated. Thank you all.
