Avatar f tn gov and search nursing home comparisons. The issue I have is that none of the nursing homes actually mention rehab. My dad has a great attitude and is working hard at his therapy sessions. Can anyone offer advice on how to effectively research and screen facilitities to ensure that my dad continues therapy with the goal of going home? Thanks!
Avatar m tn After a stay in the hospital for 6 weeks we were told that she would never meet the requirements for a rehab program. She was sent to a nursing home but the family continued doing her exercise that we found helpful from the Internet and we used therapeutic needles daily to stimulate the nerves on her bad side. After a period of 5 months and getting her on a antidepressant we were able to get her to rehab. We were told first that she wouldn't live.
Avatar n tn And, if you have insurance or can find a way to afford it, get your husband out of a skilled nursing facility and into an acute or post-acute care rehab facility, preferably one that specializes in brain injuries. My husband had a severe stroke in August and is currently in a neurorehab. He was paralyzed on the right side, lost his ability to speak intelligbly, had no sense of balance, couldn't swallow, short-term memory loss, and had many cognitive issues.
Avatar f tn What are some goals u guys think a young (20) 1st time mom should want to accomplish? Other than being a good mother of course.... Like school, work, personal life goals... My life kinda seems to be at a stand still since my baby girl isn't here yet so I'm trying to get a list of goals.
Avatar f tn My mother is residing in a nursing home in a wheelchair. She has little rehab in there, because she's too tired to keep at it. She does try, but the rehab doesn't last too long because of her tiredness. She is immobilized on her left side, and can't balance herself to go on a commode.
Avatar f tn Isn't there some web site you can check this out on or maybe in her union book. There must some information that came with her nursing license, like all the do's and don'ts. Or maybe an 1-800 number you can call anomysley (spelling) and ask these questions.

Avatar m tn It is now November and he is still in a nursing home in Long Term Care unit and not receiving ANY rehab. The reason the home gives is that he has "plateaued". People I have spoken to have said that he should still be receiving therapy. I realize that he is now on medicaid, (he lost his job, home, everything due to this stroke) and is being treated like a second class citizen!! He is getting very depressed. Thank you!
Avatar f tn t do it because it is through his work. I was supposed to get into an outpt rehab by this week for the nursing recovery program or else. I'm so frustrated, it's always been like this with him. I still ache, and I'm noticing my triggers. Fighting kids, no time to myself, I feel like I'm less "here" for the kids than I was before. They start to fight and need so much, and I become selfish with my time compared to what I was when I would take norco.
1589929 tn?1310066922 I'm currently taking benzos for my anxiety disorder and have been on them for almost 3 years now but I'm not addicted to the benzos, I'm dependent on them.
Avatar f tn Hi, as I had posted previously, I went thru PT for 4 months from Sept-Dec. And started PT again in April and added on OT in May. For my last PT appt another therapist was working with me because mine was out. My therapist is also the manager there. She said she wanted her to do my evaluation again to see if I've reached my goals. At the start, my upper extremities strengths were about 3/5 and lower extremities range from 2/5-3/5. My upper extremity strengths are now 3+/5.
Avatar m tn My father had a stroke in July and at the time he didn't qualify for therapy... he was in a semi vegetative state & required a peg tube. He was discharged to a skilled nursing home & his prognosis was not great. We started the process of applying for Medicaid for long term care which he was approved for. However, my father was a fighter and began to recover quickly!
Avatar n tn I posted last night asking if anyone could share their good and bad rehab experiences...why was that deleted? I got an email that there were 3 respnses- If anyone responded please repost! Unless there is some reason we can't share rehab experiences??
Avatar f tn I have this amazing boyfriend, fantastic. We both enjoy a good sex life, and we are bestfriends at that. It doesn't seem it could get any better. But we have different goals in life. I want to become a Musical psychologist. His plans are to move to another place but not have enough money to actually stay there just get there and have a kid. The sooner the better. He plans to live in his car until he can find a job and he hopes for a child before this.
987762 tn?1671273328 s, 2009 was a heck of a ride for me, but one of the things i did to keep my self focused on getting back up, was the little and sometimes huge goals i set for myself, does anybody else do this? Well some of you will remember my 2009 episode began in April, from day one i set goals, even if it was ok 2 steps before you touch the wall this time, I even got back to doing a run at one stage.
1403867 tn?1281009744 took notice of what foods made me feel like crap after eating it and others that gave a me a bounce. When you set these goals and challenges you will feel successful and physically you will feel better too. Also set rewards for yourself after maintaining your challenges: Pedicure, new shoes, buy a new nail polish color, new outfit. Something fun! When your thinking of your challenges don't always take things away and don't always make it something physical.
Avatar f tn I've been an addict for 28 years of my life I'm graduating rehab next week but I've lost everything that I loved I'm afraid of leaving rehab because I know nothing else now I can't go back to my old life my old friends my old ways I have nothing I've never been by myself and I am so afraid I truly do not know where to go from here how to start this so-called new life
Avatar f tn I probably just need outpt rehab, but like today, I feel I need inpatient rehab. I ache all over after being clean a month. My kids can see the difference in me because before I was so complacent, now I'm just irritable when I'm here, and gone a lot trying to keep up with this nursing recovery program. I'm stressed out trying to make these deadlines. And to have to depend on my husband to carry his end of it.
Avatar f tn she wants to go home and the doctors want her to go to a nursing facility for a week. My sister would be giving her 24 hour care. How dangerous is this condition and should she have 24 nursing care?
