Avatar f tn i'm from houston and the pain clinic scene is ridiculous there.. too easy to get whatever you want from tons of clinics over there. He has to want to get clean, unfortunately.. you can't make him do it - he has to get to that place where he has had enough and wants to quit... DetoxHouston offers Suboxone/Subutex treatment to get off of painkillers which is what i used (not there, though)... Which is effective but also carries its own set of problems - you can swap addictions...

82861 tn?1333453911 Clay Road Animal Clinic, Dr. Smith DVM. 16618 Clay Road, Houston, TX 77084, 281-550-2552 You may have to wait a while late in the afternoons or Saturday mornings because Dr. Smith is very thorough in examining every pet. He is very patient with the animals and also about fully explaining any treatment and answering questions, in addition to charging the most affordable fees I've ever found here. Great vet for any pet except birds. He's skeert!
486038 tn?1300063367 I've not been to the Jacksonville Mayo or the MS clinic in Houston, I'm sorry about that. I have heard a lot of good things about the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and Dr. Elliot Frohman who works there. I'm sure if you google his name you can find out much more than I can tell you about, here.
Avatar f tn My original question was to convince my son to get help for his pill addiction. I saw a website in Houston called Detox Houston (which is where he lives) & I convinced him to go. The website looks great & sounds great but it is not. It's a joke. There is no follow-up help at all. He's had some terrible relapses & now I'm trying to find something else. He wants something that he can do as an outpatient. How do you go about finding a decent doctor/therapist to help you?
Avatar n tn Has anyone every been to rehab for drug addiction? If so...I would like to chat with you about my nephew who had to be taken to rehab after an overdose of Xanax.
Avatar f tn t be mean, but I wonder if I should go all out and travel to Houston (I am in Austin) to the MS clinic there to get evaluated. Austin doesn't have the best MRI machines or a big clinic that specializes in MS like Houston does. Would that be overkill? What would you do? Would you stay here and go the nice neurologist the rheumy referred or travel to a big center? Does anyone know anything about the Maxine Mesinger MS clinic in Houston? Does it have a good rep?
Avatar f tn As we know , not all celebrities who struggled with addiction won.. A few that we lost to the horrible disease AMY WINEHOUSE, MJ, WHITNEY HOUSTON, and many more... Its sad and it just goes to show you that ADDICTION doesn't discriminate!! It affects people from ALL WALKS OF LIKE! Doesn't care if your rich or poor, old or young, college educated or HS drop out... No one is immune... Anyways, I thought we could discuss celebs, their addictions, what we learned, thought, felt about it...
553283 tn?1409694311 Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic are obviously both top-flight medical centers, so the choice between the two would not be so much "which is better, Cleveland or Mayo;" it would be which one has a doctor or program that is more specialized to what you need.
Avatar m tn There are relatively few such surgeons in the US, so you would be looking at traveling to one of a few centers, such as Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, Texas Heart Institute (in Houston) Debakey Center (also in Houston), Mt. Sinai in NYC, Brigham & Womens in Mass., Northwestern in Chicago Ill., or a place of that ilk.
Avatar f tn Could someone please refer me to a competent cataract surgeon in Houston? I am new to this area and will be needing surgery soon. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I Just got called from the liver study clinic in Houston, they said that the first blood work back from them introducing Boceprivir into my treatment (introduced at week 4, blood work done at week 6) shows a negative viral load! Thats great news for me being a type A 1 and second time around on treatment! Looks like the Broceprivir works! By they way, anyone know how your viral load can be negative?
Avatar m tn I finally faced up to my problems and admitted that I had an addiction to painkillers. I looked into several rehab alternatives and the one that made sense to me the most was Methadone. I'm not looking for anyone to tell me how dangerous Methadone can be, I know and I still felt it was the best rehab for me. I have been in the program for a full week now and overall I feel great. I started at 30mgs a day and they have moved me up to 40mgs and that seems to be working great.

Avatar m tn I've been searching like a mad man for a dysautonomia specialist in Houston, Tx. Just as I was about to give up I came across one. The receptionist mentioned a 'Dysautonomia Lab' at the clinic. She is emailing a questionare to get me started. I'm really excited about this. I just hope I can get in and be able to cover the copays. Here is the name of the doctor and clinic if anybody is interested: Baylor College of Medicine Dr.
Avatar f tn S. News top ten neurology hospitals in the country, which includes the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Methodist Hospital in Houston, UCLA, and Boston Mass. Neurontin and Lyrica help nerve pain, I take the latter, but it's awfully potent.
Avatar f tn I was told by the Mayo Clinic to seek out an intensive OCD Treatment Program, preferably inpatient. Has anyone else done this and can you recommend a facility?
Avatar m tn About 6 months ago i started going to a doctor in Houston for back pain. I am prescribed 180 O.C. 80mg a month. Thats 6 a day. I can not get off and about 2 months ago I started shooting them. I called a rehab yesterday and made a appointment, went in and was told they could not help me because i was not abusing them. If 6 80s a day is not abuse i don't know what is. There is hardly a doctor in the world that will wright 180 and 180.
Avatar n tn She has seen 3 different GI doctors and specialists and had CT scans, colonoscopy, barium swallows, gastronoscopy with all of these doctors. Her recent visit at the Baylor College in Houston was a test she had to test the outside of intestines it came back normal just like all of her other tests. All of her bloodwork is normal too.She had a colonoscopy with a clinic back in June said in the bloodwork that her CRP level was elevated and said it is an infection but didn't know what kind or where.
Avatar m tn What area do you live in? Cleveland Clinic in Ohio has a fantastic menu of oncologists and hematologists. Here is the web address to the page I found. http://my.clevelandclinic.org/staff_directory/PhysicianResults.aspx?type=advanced&dept=Cancer+Biology&tab=true Thay also have facilities in N.Y. and Florida.
Avatar m tn My 46-year old son (end-stage liver) was discharged from a local hospital (transfusions and paracenteses) and transferred to a rehabilitation clinic. This place appears to be a hospice in disguise with no patient advocacy and little or no effort to do regular blood work, taps, etc. I had to haul him out of there last week to Mayo (Phoenix) ER to get cipro and an albumin IV, as well as a referral upstairs to Hepatology. He returned to rehab for his bed and three squares.
