Does anyone know of a good (effective) detox/rehab facility in Tampa Bay/St. Pete area? Son prefers non-residential but has rather large addiction to roxicodone /oxycontin. This is all so confusing and depressing. . seems so many people are trying to make big bucks at desperate people's expense (and I don't mean just dealers!) No one is really giving me much hope of permanent freedom from this drug for him, either.

Has anyone on here been to or known anyone that has been to Haven House Rehab Center in Oxford, MS??? I will be going in a couple of days and just curious if anyone has an opinion on it. Also, to all the women.... I haven't had a period since jan 19. The only other times I have skipped, I was pregnant but I have taken 2 tests and they were both negative. Can withdrawals from lortab cause you to miss a cycle for 2 months? Has anyone else experienced this as a side effect of detox and relapse?

Is there a Untied way in your area or a salvation army also mental health centers in your town .Are you still using and how much . You can do a google search of treatment centers in your area. You can use your local phone book to find what assistance is available in your area. It is difficult for us to help you in your particular state since we are international here in this community. Best of luck to you mom and it is wonderful that you want to help. Get your phone book out. Look up detox and rehab centers in your area. Whether you have health insurance or not there are places you can go to get detoxed. That is the beginning. Then the work begins. To figure out why you are doing this. It sounds like it started with back surgery. But that is just a symptom.. There is something that is making you afraid or sad or both that makes you feel a need to numb yourself. I use to do this with alcohol.

Where exactly is the Bay area? I live in Canada so not sure if that is a term for a certain area in a state in the usa. Let me know and I can send you some groups as well as surgeons.

Oh I bet. I live in bay ara Fremont area as well and it was warm. Took a nice cold shower before bed to help. It did a little. Good luck today because its going be anothers hot one.

The best thing for you to do is look up REHAB centers in your area or as much of an area that you can afford to drive. It's imperative that you visit more than one. Use all your resources...internet, friends, references, staff and other informative resources that can help you decide. Nursing homes really just take care of the patient with little or no rehab. Do you have a HealthSouth in your area? In bigger cities HealthSouth has a good name.

Could someone recommend a good neurologist in the San Francisco Bay area? Someone who listens to his patients and is willing to try to diagnose a condition when other neuros have given up.

You must live up north by the bay area. me I am down here in LA CO. we have had so many departments being closed or the staff cut to almost nothing. It's been going on for several years. Arcadia and Pasadena use to have top rated Trauma Centers, but now they are closed. Boy, do I sound as grouchy as I feel. It must be the heat, spasms, etc... something... I apologize for being so yucky... I'll do better tomorrow I need a good steak!!!

Most rehab centers take care of the detox the first week or so that you're there. I know the ones I checked into do. Also, stay away from Ultram. It will open a can of worms you don't need to mess with.

You may find that going to 2 meetings a day can give you the same benefits as a rehab. They will also assist you in finding a good rehab being they go to all in the area to speak and help those fighting their illness. You will be surrounded by people who will give you support, love, rides to and from, and place to go for a good part of everyday. He snorts coke, Addarall and Ritalin, the guy leaves paraphernalia all around his house and still denies usage. He is currently on methadone which is just a free drug to him at this point. It really depends. There are inpatient centers, as in you live there, and outpatient centers, where you don't live at the facility. Different options work for different people. I have been in a outpatient place and it works well for me. I am sure every place is different though, and it is ultimately up to you and what you want. There isn't an exact time to 'come off' of any drug, or any chemical that alters you in some way.

I can only suggest that you begin making phone calls to treatment centers in your area. Many of them have indigent programs or alumni programs and will take in one patient a month or so. We had a similar program at the hospital where my neuro was in Florida. It was an all day seminar thing (from like 8 til 3) and featured several of the hospital's docs (including my own). It was really informative. I wish I had something like that in this area. I didn't realize how small a town we live in, until we moved here a few months ago! I'll have to check with the local chapter of the MS society...maybe there are some interesting lectures in bigger cities near me.

Hey Cj!! I didn't realize you were so close, I'm from Amarillo, Texas. I know here in Tx, many rehab centers offer payment plans for people without ins, you would need to locate one near you and see if maybe that is an option for you. Take care!!

anyone have a family member in drug rehab? my DH has been gone 6 days into his 30 days of treatment. i am left alone with a three year old.. i want him to get help for drugs and depression, but now i am left alone with my son and i am now severly depressed, lonely, hurt, feeling guilty, and so on, and so on. his problem has torn me apart. i am a nervous wreck. i dont know what to do, or who to talk to. i am begging for some kind of help.. someone to talk to, somewhere to go.
