Avatar f tn Critics of the Vitter amendment say it would exempt GE Capital from being treated as a potential systemic risk because GE, the parent company, earned only 33 percent of its revenue in 2009 from its financial business. GE and other manufacturers back exemption in financial regulation bill But the reality is a little more complex. GE Capital is technically a separate business entity that reports on its own to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Avatar f tn Published in the peer-reviewed Ground Water, this study raises renewed questions about the potential for hydraulic fracturing to fundamentally alter shale rock formations and the hydrogeologic cycle in ways that could affect freshwater drinking supplies. There are also concerns that improperly sealed or unsealed abandoned drilling wells and naturally occurring fractures and faults will offer a path to connect gas bearing shale layers with overlying freshwater aquifers.
148588 tn?1465778809 In the United States, there is no government policy that limits sperm donation frequency or puts limitations on the potential number of offspring from the same donor, nor is there reliable data on the number of children born by sperm donation each year. According to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, or ASRM, the number is likely higher than those conceived by in-vitro fertilization, approximately 60,000, according to the CDC.
Avatar n tn While surgical repair usually abolishes the aortic arch gradient, systemic blood pressure often remains abnormal and may increase with time, even in those who became normotensive early after repair. The mechanisms for these abnormalities of long-term blood pressure regulation remain unclear. Furthermore, treatment in later life may be less effective, as long-term studies have shown persistent hypertension and decreased survival in those who were operated on in adolescence and adulthood.
Cat Is it normal for body temp to go down to levels called hypo while doing basic household chores such as cleaning the kitchen, which has been causing shortness of breath severely since an attempt to use a medication that didnt agree with me last summer. it causes not only shortness of breath but also sweating, rapid heart beat and symptoms of overheating, after i stop to rest, and it causes the body temp to decrease dramatically. i have seen it go down as far as 87.6 f.
Avatar f tn We do this cuz, if we were still living in caves, we would have trouble finding water this time of year in certain areas because of it freezing over. I don't know if there's anything you can do for it, though.
Avatar n tn My body thermostat has stopped working. I am cold most of the time through to the core and cannot get warm. It prevents me going out and is making life miserable, even a slight breeze can make me shiver. If it's a hot day I cannot cool down and perspire excessively to the point of almost fainting. I have had numerous blood tests etc and nothing comes up. It's been going on for about 4 years now.
Avatar f tn I was taken off the blood thinners after 7 months after the Dr determined I was not at risk of more blood clots. I was tested for all the major blood clotting disorders at the time the clots developed; but nothing came back positive. It is unfortunate that I never knew the reasons for why I developed clots; but it was at the same time I was diagnosed with Graves.
Avatar n tn The first 2 borderline screeners (there was a retest) and the stalling of childrens public hospital urged me and my wife to take our baby for a blood test to a private lab where (TSH 8.9) (fT4 5.7) (fT3 1.45). Next day the screening in hospital showed (TSH 12.97) (fT4 11.9) (fT3 4.8). Eventually we initiated treatment on 40th day after birth with 1x25 T4tabs a day One month later values from a molecular lab were fT4= 2.2 (0.6-2.0) fT3=4.13 (1.4-4.4) and TSH=0.783 (0.3-4.
175688 tn?1297556647 Definitely stay tight with your doctor on the blood pressure issue - over a long period of time is can cause damage to the arteries, plus can be an indication of potential problems inside like heart decease. Nothing to mess with. I am not a doctor, but to answer your question you can try a salt-less diet for a while (adding no salt and eating foods very low in salt), drink plenty of water, avoid soda and alcohol, get lot's of rest, and get out and walk a lot.
Avatar f tn s leg after he came home from school. I wiped it off expecting to see a scratch because it looked like two lines of blood. There wasn't a scratch so I am a little nervous it wasn't his blood. Also, he mentioned an incident where he accidentally hit another classmate today with the rings they use to stay in line and he and the child went to the nurse. That raised my concern level as well. He's special needs so he's not able to give me specific details.
Avatar n tn Not really sure if somehow this is an std or just an odd little area where extra blood decided to gather. The spot is also somewhat shiny, the texture of the skin on this area is very smooth. I don't think this is std related is because I have looked up several stds and generally they come with health issues / other physical issues that I am not experiencing. The red spot is the only present symptom.
Avatar m tn Dr. Hook and Dr. Handsfield, I knew that mosquito bites cannot transmit HIV and blood borne diseases like Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C. Sorry for asking about Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C in this forum. I think the Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C virus are blood borne infections. So, the transmission through blood should be quite the same as HIV. Hence, I ask about them here. Hopefully, you can help. I have 2 scenarios here that I would like to ask of the potential risks: 1.
Avatar f tn I ask that because Hepatitis C, in addition to causing a constant state of inflammation in your body, can be linked to metabolic problems entailing faulty glucose regulation, faulty insulin regulation, faulty lipid regulation, and insulin resistance. This metabolic malfunction/dysfunction can be the cause of excess belly fat, which, in the presence of the insulin resistance and faulty glucose metabolism, is very difficult to get rid of.
Avatar f tn I get aquagenic urticaria (water hives) with too much thyroid hormone in the blood. Even just a mild amount of excess thyroid hormone will cause this.
382218 tn?1341181487 Johns Hopkins is currently recruiting RRMS patients as subjects for a study on Vit D. Wish I was closer so I could participate as I'm very interested in the potential effect of Vit D on this disease. "The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and the immunologic effects of supplementation with low-dose and high-dose cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis." http:// clinicaltrials.gov /ct2/show/NCT01024777?
645390 tn?1338555377 Higher BP is a potential side effect of the IVSM, but there has to be more to this in your case. If you have been anxious, that will add to the BP. Running around getting errands done is another potential issue, and getting an injection can play a role. What is your taper dose regime? Is it a medrol dsepak or the usual 60-40-20-10? You've been throught the wringer today so it is not surprising. Get it checked again tomorrow if you can.
Avatar m tn I am 26-year old female. I have a serious problem with regulating my body temperature. I feel freezing cold or overly hot. In the winter, I feel like my body is asleep at all times and does not generate any heat if I am not exercising. I can't do any of my hobbies inside of the house because I am too cold. I take hot showers, use warm baths for my feet, run warm water over my hands. I dress appropriately. I sleep under 3 blankets while my husband has 1.
Avatar n tn After that, i on the tap, small flow of water came out i use my left hand to rinse the water and wash my mouth. I am concern that my hand might not be clean or might have touch blood before going to the toilet.
Avatar f tn The pain patches I use are Lidoderm (lidocaine patch 5%) made by ENDO Pharmaceuticals. These are $1.00 each my co-pay on my drug plan. I had not thought of drinking extra water and I am glad you mentioned this as I really have never drunk as much as I should due to the fact that my city water has a chlorine taste to it. The only other prescription drug I am on is a blood pressure pill which controls it well.
Avatar f tn Although very minor amounts of selenium appear sufficient for adequate activity of deiodinases, thus limiting the impact of its potential deficiency on synthesis of thyroid hormones, selenium status appears to have an impact on the development of thyroid pathologies. The value of selenium supplementation in autoimmune thyroid disorders has been emphasized.
Avatar f tn Hello, First of all, the cause of irregular periods needs to be found out. The cause of irregular periods could be due to hormonal imbalance, stress, chronic illness, polycystic ovarian disease, thyroid gland disorders or diseases, pituitary gland tumors or cyst, galactorrhea, prolactinomas etc. You should consult a gynecologist and get examined and investigated as soon as possible to know the exact cause of all these episodes.
Avatar n tn You may be interested in this article, although the bulk of it addresses the action of a patented form of guggul on the thyroid... I'm not so sure that melatonin is a good thing for us hypos to take after reading this. Melatonin seems to suppress the action of the thyroid, which is why you're getting the same symptoms you had prior to taking levothyroxine.
Avatar n tn Been living with inoperable Chiari Malformation since birth, am 30 now. Experience no pain, but I am wheelchair bound and due to a scoliosis, syringomyelia, and pneumonia ravaged lungs from early childhood, I'm in a fairly sorry state. Happy though, content. I've a question. Do y'all experience issues with emotional regulation? Reason I'm asking is that my dad died two weeks back. Everyone around me is an emotional wreck, even people that purportedly weren't fond of him.
Avatar m tn This project examines the effect of human prolactin (PRL) on the expression of T-bet in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC). In this project, we also correlate the effect of prolactin-induced alterations in T-bet expression with cytokine secretory profiles of exposed PBMCs.
1615999 tn?1307461942 Thanks to everyone for all of the advise. I go back to the doctor on the 6th and I am going to talk to her about this. The pain is getting worse by the week and there are times where I can't even walk. I am hoping she can suggest something that will help until I can get the hysterectomty in October.
