Avatar f tn It depends. High blood pressure can have many etiologies. The reason for the high blood pressure must be determined. Unfortunately, in modern medicine, physicians jump to prescribe a pill. A certain percentage of patients (as many as ten percent) can solve their blood pressure problems by a D3 supplement and adding calcium to their diet. Those test results came from a study involving a thousand patients from a company seeking a new drug application for calcium channel blockers.

Avatar f tn My doctor put me back on Metroplol (was on it back in 2007) to reduce my heart rate which we hoped would reduce my blood pressure. Well it did but I'm still 150/92, 140/94, 130/90. When I initially test at the drug store my pressure is always higher and then I test like a minute later and it drops. Two weeks ago it dropped to 128/88. Went for a follow-up with my doctor last Friday and it was 130/90 and he felt it was time to start taking blood pressure medication.

225237 tn?1333138999 In 2005 i was dianoised with high blood pressure, which in return made me have horrible anxiety. Well in 2006 i found out i was pregnant and my high blood pressure went away...totally normal. Now a few months ago I go to doc and he puts me back on blod pressure meds, which in return my anxiety has came back. I currently take 5 mg. of lisinopril. I have lost 17 pounds and st5ill working on getting some weight off. So I guess my questions are: Can my anxiety cause my BP too flucuate?
Avatar n tn I've been on 10 mg. lisinopril for a few months. My blood pressure was about 144/88 in docs office when I started. Now it ranges from 130s/75 to 90s/60s. Usually it's about 115/73. I get dizzy sometimes - like in morning yoga when I stand up. When do you recommend reducing dosage - or maybe reducing the day before yoga? thank you.
Avatar m tn Low emotional stress levels. Have blood cholesterol levels checked every year to ensure they are lower than average. Keep blood pressure normal, even if it involves medication.
Avatar n tn Keep a morning evening record of your blood pressure for a few days. If your blood pressure remains high after medication, then there are two possibilities. Either the medication is not suiting you. OR there is some underlying cause which needs to be eliminated.

Avatar n tn My mother is in her late 70's with very high blood pressure (systolic pressure was at 250). She's getting tests done, but they don't seem to be timely or thorough enough. My mother is horrible with advocating for herself. Her PCP told her that she may just have to live with high blood pressure. Could this be true????I don't think they are treating it aggressively enough.
Avatar m tn One last thing is exercising. Walking has been proved to control the level of cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and even improve asthma. A 30 minutes walk daily should keep you healthy and highly spirited.
Avatar n tn For example, eighteen percent of people with high blood pressure can reduce the pressure by taking simple calcium supplements. That study was funded by a company manufacturing calcium-channel blockers, for whom I worked briefly two decades ago. A long, long time ago, when Obama was a gleam in his father's eye, I worked in college in a behavioral science lab and we experimented with use of conditioning to reduce blood pressure.

6883059 tn?1395509077 Is there anything I can do, eat, or drink to reduce my blood pressure to an average level ?
Avatar m tn A thought occurred to me (rare these days) that I should try todecrese to 1/2 the peg while maintaining the riba and alinia at their current levels. When I predosed with alinia/riba, my hemoglobin trended downwards --though not severely-- and the alinia had no adverse effects except some nausea. On the other hand, the viral load dropped steadily, as did the AST, ALT, GGT . All in all, I was feeling much better than I had for a while. Coincidence?

225237 tn?1333138999 A poor blood pressure response to stress, activity, etc. is actually a disease. If you had a blood pressure of 120/80 along with a heart rate of 60 while trying to escape from a fire or an accident would be harmful, as you would not be able to do anything except walking slowly away. Often, the anxiety is misplaced and it's not healthy to live with chronic anxiety (which elevates the blood pressure), but in that case, you have an anxiety problem and not a blood pressure problem.
