Common Questions and Answers about Red skin with white spots

skin

Hi, Since when have you noticed these symptoms? There are several causes of white spots on the skin. You would have to consult a skin specialist to find out the definte diagnosis and rule out tinea versicolor, pityriasis alba, vitiligo, lichen sclerosis et atrophicus and secondary to healing process after an injury. Pityrospum ovale or Tinea Versicolor is a yeast like organism - treatment is with oral medication called Nizoral , topical are not that effective.
When I show the doctors the red spots on my arms, they tell me it is just thinning skin that happens with age. I am 63 and didn't expect this for a while. I do take medications, latest being Omeprazole and now new ones for stomach problems I am having. Due to chronic dry mouth and throat, have had two biopsies for Sjorgens, negative. Maybe I will have them scrape or biopsy it next time I go in.
As you explain about these white spots are flat on skin and spreading slowly it seems that this is skin condition vitiligo. white spots on skin which feel burning while exposed to the sun is a common symptom of skin condition vitiligo (source of info: http://www.antivitiligo.com/vitiligo/ ). I recommend you not use tanning beds to treat these spots. Because the intensity of uv radiation in these beds is 3 to 8 time than the sunlight. There is a great risk for skin cancer by harmful rays of UV.
In the last couple of years, the spots are turning into larger areas of white. It also seems as though the white patches are developing on the head of my penis lately. I am quite worried, what could be wrong!!

I have gone through recent reports and would like to add that I too just noticed tiny white spots on my thigh and legs within the last three months. They are quite few and not noticeable unless you were looking for them.I noticed them after a spell of chronic malaria in which I unknowingly took a double dosage of 2 extremely strong anti-malarials; amodiaquine/artemisin and Lumefrantine/artmether all within a space of two weeks.A doctor later prescribed chloroquine which cured my p.

Hello, Hives are red itchy areas and they don’t appear white. If the spots that you are having appear white then I would like to rule out any tinea versicolor or vascular conditions. Tinea versicolor is caused by a fungus that lives in the skin of almost all adults. Factors that can cause the fungus to become more visible include high humidity and immune or hormone abnormalities. Treatment involves topical and oral antifungal medicines. I sincerely suggest you to consult a dermatologist.
I wanted to Thank you for answering so quickly I did look at some pictures of tinea versicolor.
Some of them are red and raised with a little yellow/White centre while others are pink and flat. I have never sufferd with spots before especially over the body. Can anyone tell me what this is?
The spots begin as red swollen lumps (about 3 to 4mm), after a few days the larger ones will go scaly (top layer of skin appears white and very dry) and the skin will peel off when scratched leaving a sore red lump which sometimes bleed. The ones which peel then take up to 2 months to heal. I have been suffering with these for over 6 months and my GP can't give me any answers. I was prescribed Fucidin cream which made no diiference.
Well, I have some red spots in my pubic region. Not anywhere else though. They appeared after I had unprotected sex, but just one appeared. And it became white, like acne. I figured it was acne and I popped it (I'm 21 and still get zits on occasion). The next day another appeared (after sex again). So I used a wash clothe to wash my pubic region really well and it spread even more after that. Now, they did not all turn white like acne, most don't.
i have red spots on my moustash where some hair stoped growing, what is it and will the hair grow back, i also have a regular bald spot on there that apeared its not red but its just white as opposed to the dark stubble around it, it regained some hair will it grow back??
About a month ago, I left some red spots on his back near the waist, which were resected. Also in the arms, which are dry and virtually disappeared. Others are still in the outskirts of the axillae and nipples, still red and sometimes I get itchy. They are more scaly and red when I shower with hot water. As I said before, these spots are red, sometimes cause itching, are scaly and look like "wrinkled".
my husband took the meds in 2002 didnt respond he has not had in trouble other than being tired and now he has red spots on his hands and feet under the skin that itch really bad. can anyone tell me what may have caused this problem with spots and itching?
As well as this I have had exactly the same thing on my hip, dry white-ish skin with red spots, although all but one of the spots has faded in this area and the skin isn't red.. I'm trying not to worry but I have just noticed yet another patch of dry skin starting to form on my waist and I would really like to know what it is, it doesn't itch and I have no other symptons other than the spots.. oh and the fact both times these have appeared have been just before my period?
I had so many of them one week I looked like a red light with a white rash. They never did itch ( I did have allot of itching but it was not particular to the spots). Also it took about 2 months for all of them to go away. Now the red spots at the injection sites did not go all the way away for about 4 months.
Do the spots look like spiders, about the size of a dime, turn white when you press them, under the skin not raised? If yes, could be spider nevi. May also be know as angioma. Usually occur upper chest, back, sometimes on face.
